I originally received these in a Power Point presentation file.
I was a bit disappointed that some of them are sort of small when I extracted them, but I think they still look pretty nice.
(the Bolivia and painted buildings pictures were also extracted from a Power point file.)

Author Unknown, but I got this in 2002
To the tune of... I'm sure you know.

      Iron-man, Iron-man
      Does whatever an iron can
      Flattens clothes, any size
      Uses steam, he's in disguise
Look out! Here comes the Iron-man!
      _
      Is he strong? Listen, Bud!
He's got electricity for his blood.
Can he swing from a thread?
Not a chance, cause he'd be dead
Hey there, there goes the Iron-man!
      _
      In the chill of night,
      At a chinese laudro-mat
      Like a streak of light
He flattens clothes just like that
      _
      Iron-man, Iron-man
      Friendly neighborhood Iron-man
Wealth and fame, he's damn bored
      Flattening clothes is his reward
      _
To him, life is a great big hang-up
      Wherever there's a bang-up
      You'll find the Iron-man!

I was gone for a while a couple of weeks ago and no one seemed to notice.

      :-(

Anyway, I was in Scotland and saw some castles and mountains. Very nice scenery.

But, I also got a picture of ....

THE LOCK NESS monster. Yes sir, there (s)he was on the side of the road playing a bit of "possum".
I have never heard it mentioned that it could stay still for so long, but I waited for quite a while and not even
      a blink.

    • 50 Ways to Scare People...

      Stonesword

      in the computer room...

      1. Log on, wait a sec, then get a frightened look on your face and scream "Oh my God! They've found me!" and bolt.

      2. Laugh uncontrollably for about 3 minutes & then suddenly stop and look suspiciously at everyone who looks at you.

      3. When your computer is turned off, complain to the monitor on duty that you can't get the damn thing to work. After he/she's turned it on, wait 5 minutes, turn it off again, & repeat the process for a good half hour.

      4. Type frantically, often stopping to look at the person next to you evilly.

      5. Before anyone else is in the lab, connect each computer to different screen than the one it's set up with.

      6. Write a program that plays the "Smurfs" theme song and play it at the highest volume possible over & over again.

      7. Work normally for a while. Suddenly look amazingly startled by something on the screen and crawl underneath the desk.

      8. Ask the person next to you if they know how to tap into top-secret Pentagon files.

      9. Use Interactive Send to make passes at people you don't know.

      10. Make a small ritual sacrifice to the computer before you turn it on.

      11. Bring a chain saw, but don't use it. If anyone asks why you have it, say "Just in case..." mysteriously.

      12. Type on VAX for a while. Suddenly start cursing for 3 minutes at everything bad about your life. Then stop and continue typing.

      13. Enter the lab, undress, and start staring at other people as if they're crazy while typing.

      14. Light candles in a pentagram around your terminal before starting.

      15. Ask around for a spare disk. Offer $2. Keep asking until someone agrees. Then, pull a disk out of your fly and say, "Oops, I forgot."

      16. Every time you press Return and there is processing time required, pray "Ohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseohpl," and scream "YES!" when it finishes.

      17. "DISK FIGHT!!!"

      18. Start making out with the person at the terminal next to you (It helps if you know them, but this is also a great way to make new friends).

      19. Put a straw in your mouth and put your hands in your pockets. Type by hitting the keys with the straw.

      20. If you're sitting in a swivel chair, spin around singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" whenever there is processing time required.

      21. Draw a picture of a woman (or man) on a piece of paper, tape it to your monitor. Try to seduce it. Act like it hates you and then complain loudly that women (men) are worthless.

      22. Try to stick a Nintendo cartridge into the 3 1/2 disc drive, when it doesn't work, get the supervisor.

      23. When you are on an IBM, and when you turn it on, ask loudly where the smiling Apple face is when you turn on one of those.

      24. Print out the complete works of Shakespeare, then when its all done (two days later) say that all you wanted was one line.

      25. Sit and stare at the screen, biting your nails noisily. After doing this for a while, spit them out at the feet of the person next to you.

      26. Stare at the screen, grind your teeth, stop, look at the person next to grinding. Repeat procedure, making sure you never provoke the person enough to let them blow up, as this releases tension, and it is far more effective to let them linger.

      27. If you have long hair, take a typing break, look for split ends, cut them and deposit them on your neighbour's keyboard as you leave.

      28. Put a large, gold-framed portrait of the British Royal Family on your desk and loudly proclaim that it inspires you.

      29. Come to the lab wearing several layers of socks. Remove shoes and place them of top of the monitor. Remove socks layer by layer and drape them around the monitor. Exclaim sudden haiku about the aesthetic beauty of cotton on plastic.

      30. Take the keyboard and sit under the computer. Type up your paper like this. Then go to the lab supervisor and complain about the bad working conditions.

There are over a dozen "random missions" where you'll pass by someone that needs help or someone that needs help will come up to you.

One of them is a lady on the side of the road that flags you down to help her and she lost a wheel off her stagecoach and needs help to fix it.

In reality, she's bait for a gang of thugs waiting behind the coach to ambush you. The first two times I totally fell for it and got killed. When I finally caught them, I didn't kill her because she's unarmed (you can lasso and hogtie people, so that's what I did.

This "mission" happened once right after I had just finished saving and was just riding around, so I made sure to set her down on the railroad tracks to get the achievement.

I can go through stages of both wanting to listen to stuff in english, and other languages.

When listening to music in another language, I am able to just listen, enjoy the melody etc... When it is in English (or even French), I end up getting distracted by the song, trying to work out the words etc... Then singing them.

At least when it is in a completely different language, my brain knows it has no chance, so doesn't even try.

      =P

Which I have to admit, is beneficial when I am supposed to be concentrating on something like a report. =) It's nice to have something there, without it being too distracting. Its either these girls, or my instrumental music, like my bioshock soundtracks... But then I just want to play. ;)

      Too bad about the HP.

There were at least a couple of models that were prone to overheating.

I hope mine isn't one of them. I looked on the net and it doesn't seem to be.

For all my criticism of HP (huge, bloated drivers, taking the laptop to repair and returning it in exactly the same state - twice, etc.), there is one thing I can say for them - they didn't hide the fact it was a design flaw. When doing an automated driver update search, it actually linked me to the website, informing me of the problem and telling me I was eligible for free repairs.

I don't know what other models might have been affected, but definitely the dv6152eu (hereafter known as The Paperweight). Right now, I think the cost of repairs would be more than the cost of replacement - especially now I've started breaking it down for usable parts to sell on (a friend has the hard disk already, the memory I maxed out so have two sets of DIMMs etc.) which will soak up even more of the cost.

It's a shame, though - while it worked, it worked magnificently. I'll miss that.

Unfortunately we only have a few days at the end of our holiday. We are planning on going to Toronto (day trip to the falls), and to Vancouver (Jarrad really wants to see it. I think possibly because the winter olympics were there). Plus it is on the way home.

Personally I really wanted to go to Quebec, Montreal and Edmonton, but we just don't have enough time/money. This time is our US trip, with a small amount into Canada. Hopefully in the future we will be able to get to Canada again, to spend more time there.

No as soon as we sat down at War the lady dealing couldn't beat us to save her life. Well, me anyway and every time I won I could feel it. After a while I just started leaving most of my winnings on the table and only removing $10 or $20 from the pile. I never lost the pile and that's how I ended up with what I left with. I planned on being there for 3 or more hours and ended up only being there like 1, maybe 1 and 1/2.

There was one hand where my brother, who was first card, sat out, which shifts everyone's card down one (since he isn't going to get one, since he's not playing) and because of that, the card he would have got went to some other dude, who got a 3, and HIS card, which was an Ace, went to me and I had put down like $30+ so I won, that dude lost and etc because he just decided not to play.

That's just how lucky I was last night, it was awesome.

An Indian walks into a cafe with a shotgun
In one hand pulling a male buffalo with the other.
      He says to the waiter:

      'Want coffee.'
The waiter says, 'Sure, Chief. Coming right up.'
He gets the Indian a tall mug of coffee.
The Indian drinks the coffee down in one gulp,
Turns and blasts the buffalo with the shotgun,
Causing parts of the animal to splatter everywhere
      and then just walks out.

The next morning the Indian returns
He has his shotgun in one hand, pulling
Another male buffalo with the other
He walks up to the counter and says to
      The waiter

      'Want coffee.'
      The waiter says 'Whoa, Tonto!
We're still cleaning up your mess from yesterday.
What was all that about, anyway?'

The Indian smiles and proudly says .....

'Training for position in United States Congress:
Come in, drink coffee, shoot the bull,
Leave mess for others to clean up,
      Disappear for rest of day

I have already converted all the home movies I had.

Other than our Wedding video all our other home video stuff is on min-DV or SD cards. I never had to lug around a full size VHS camcorder.

We do have some TV shows/special on tape that would be nice to have in a digital format. But it is the purchased movies that we have the most of.

When you did the conversion....did you use a capture card for your PC OR did you use some other stand alone converter? Some of these stand alone converters look like they might work....pop a tape in and it records it to an SD card. Just not sure of the quality of the transfer.
