The other day I was over in Edinburgh (no pics I’m afraid) and finally met up with JJBrazman who was up for the annual Fringe festivities among other things (he was of course "The Charming One"). As he was stuck with a heavy travel case, I naturally used my intimate knowledge of the city’s cobbled streets and alleyways to drag him across the length and breadth of town searching for fun amongst the city-wide arts festival.

      out-of-the-blue_3201.jpg

JJ recommended seeing these guys, who were great fun to listen to. There were also a couple free comedy gigs we managed to squeeze into our day, both in pokey wee rooms in the back of taverns and the basement of an Italian Ice Cream Parlour.

      SuperPriv4te

Last weekend I spent The Glasgow Faire holiday on a wee camping trip in Arran, one of the more popular western isles. Known for it’s sands, points of geological scientific interest and Cheese

      Journal-Cheese.jpg

Quite. After hiking from Brodick port to Calach, the first night’s stay was spent over in Lochranza (Lo*phlegm*-rhan-za) up in the North end by the distillery.

      Journal-Lochranza.jpg

I had a pack-free walk along the bay as I searched in vain for a shop that would have more food to sell, otherwise I would be stuck with my boil-in-bag dumplings and packet of black pudding for breakfast. Things did look promising as signs indicated a joint with food-

      Journal-NOPE.jpg

Or not. Anyway, here’s my ‘Front-Flap’ view of Torr Nead an Eoin from the campsite. And dinner smiley1.gif

      Journal-view.jpg

The local Meanbh-chuileag (Meh-nv *phlegm*-ool-yegg...I think.) weren’t too bad all in all, though they did lie in wait for me outside my tent that morning

      Journal-Midgies.jpg

      Journal-Charlotte.jpg
A newfound friend who kept me company as I waited for the late morning bus. It’s greying ginger fur and amiable nature reminded me of my Arran-loving crazy cat lady Aunt Charlotte =3

Taking the bus down the east side of the Island, stopping at Brodick for a supply run along the way to Whiting Bay, from there trekking around the Island corner to Kildonan, now my favourite place in Arran.

      Journal-View2.jpg

Another front-flap view of the Lighthouse on Pladda (Incidently built in 18-something by The Lighthouse Stevensons: a family of civil engineering history who most famous son was the author Robert Louis).
The rest of the evening passed by with little incident...except for the bagpipe-blaring wedding reception at the hotel next to the campsite. Though the best part was the Kildonan bar-room musical entertainment later on, with singing, concertina’s, moothies and uisge beatha gu leoir smiley8.gif

Oh, and for those who kindly endured my photo-album (or simply skipped down here for understandibly tldr reasons), I heard back from my College recently: I achieved a Mechanical Engineering HNC with an A in my Graded Unit, and I'll be entering a first year University of Strathclyde course in Prosthetics and Orthotics this September. I definitely be feeling more confident for this time around smiley1.gif

And before anyone asks, I’ve not seen the latest episode, and all I know is that people keep saying something about a moustache. I’ll wait until I see the previous five first. smiley0.gif

My family has recently taken to Big Bang Theory in a big way, particularly my parents. My mother has Wven borrowed the complete DvD box set off a friend. hile I’ve always found it fairly watchable, I only ever found some parts very funny. (I eventually got over the easily amused background audience).
The rest of the family say it's because they can identify with certain character relationships or something like that. Then again I wasn’t paying too much attention to the show since Dad was sitting in my spot the whole way through ¬_¬

In other news, I’m swotting up on my Highway Code as I will be learning to drive this summer. My first lesson is next week.

(Any spoilers will be in Comments)

I went to see it with some friends. And as someone who has not seen an Alien film before (turns out its perfectly stand-alone), I quite liked it.

I liked the introduction scene aboard the ship with Michael Fassbender (David) spending his “free time” (Lawrence of Arabia squee!) and I loved that scene with him in the Navigation Chamber. The other cast members were decent too – particularly Noomi Rapace (Elizabeth). Though personally, I absolutely refuse to believe that her character could have simply walked off what she goes through - unfortunately that’s just one of a fair number of things that stood out for me. Again, not that I’m saying it’s a poor film for it, but just...what wasn’t easily predictable was simply befuddling or poorly explained. In fact the most surprising thing about the whole film was the discovery that I could go see movies for as cheap as six quid at a Student price

Sir, I understand that the film is prone to bouts of Inceptionitus?

      Beg your pardo-

      BWAAAAAAM!!

Oh yeah, but it wasn’t too jarring. Actually the score’s great, and has that strong Epic Space Exploration Drama (StarTrekkian?) vibe to it which pretty much suits the tone.

My more-experienced friends (well, with the Alien Franchise anyway) seemed to think it was more of an Action Movie than a usual Horror Flick, though I thought it was still fun (I clearly don’t go to the Cinemas enough). And while not insultingly stupid, it’s probably not a good idea to think too much into it. (Yes that means you LFTO. You’ve got enough to sink your teeth into with Season 10 right now).

Oh and lastly, for those who have seen the film...

Sorry I've been a bit quiet on RT lately what with my last exam being on Thursday, and I’ve still been pretty busy lately with college stuff happening this final week.

Although I did take a break from revision last week to watch the Pagent along the Thames for the Diamond Jubilee (London Bridge looked specially painted for the event). One of the major celebrations involved a series of Beacons atop peaks along the country from Land's End to John O'Groats. Rather than trek up Dumgoyne (a relatively local hill) in the fading light, we had our own little Jubilee beacon in the back garden =3
      Beacon.jpg

This weekend I visited Edinburgh for a barbeque – although as it was put forward a day, my friend and I spent the day hanging out about town and the Zoo, carrying about an Applie Pie I had baked the day before. We did not get to see the new resident pandas, though the place was hoaching (or should I say, in a monium? smiley8.gif ) with people queuing to see Tian Tian and Yang Guang (Sweetie and Sunshine). I wasn’t too fussed myself, they’ll be there for another ten years, and I got to see the Penguins instead. Not to mention there were plenty of Pandas and Panda-themed items waiting for us in the Exit Gift Shop...including...

Agent_Me and I are creating titles for all the Chupathorities, and we couldn't decide on one for you. What sort of title would you like?

      • SuperPriv4te

Well you can propose your information and ideas to others in a way that it makes irrefutable common sense, though if there is conflict, you can always discuss/debate it freely to expand these ideas a bit.

As for the titles, I really don't mind, you can go ahead and call me anything you like smiley1.gif

Are you sure about that Sir?

        ...

        No wait!-

      • devilmaycrye

You don't need to be an Authority on Chupas, its just that you are an Admin in a Chupa group, so I thought you'd like one, like Chupa Carer, or such.

Just stuff like "Take it easy, Myshu hasn't said that" or "How would you know? You didn't create them", and other stuff like that.

I just wanted something official, approved by Myshu, that basically says "What I says, Goes".

You don't have to have one, if you don't want one, we just thought we'd extend it to you and Niriall.

      • SuperPriv4te

I would hardly call myself an authority on anything if I'm honest XD. I don't really know all there is to know about Myshu's universe, even if I do enjoy the comic and the supplementary info she makes in the Questions thread, but beyond that I'm not fussed.

I don't see how Titles would affect you getting complains from people. If it's your group and you're getting your info from the creator, there shouldn't be a problem. What sort of flak are you getting?
(I forgot I got an invite to that Caretakers group, I'll take a look now)

      • devilmaycrye

People who have 'authority' over the main Chupa groups, or people who are allowed to expand upon/know a fair bit about Myshu's Chupaverse.

And since I keep getting flak in the Caretakers group 'for not having talked to Myshu/asked for her approval' (even though I do), I thought it'd be a smart idea to give us all 'Titles", which we will see if Myshu approves of, so that no one can say we don't know what we are talking about.

      • SuperPriv4te

I'm thinking getting my nephew some good old lego bricks for his birthday this year, he has too many of those pre-made custom-piece sets that only build one thing. When I was his age I had the bricks and I made all sorts of things from them -- houses, space ships, a little red dragon with a jointed mouth and wings -- ooh, I could make one out of netherack and have its mouth full of fire... but no, must get on with some artwork!
