      This is an RP for anyone wanting to play in a world with super powers and technology. It takes place on an alternate Earth in the year 2010. Superpowers have been a staple of this world world for centuries. By now at least one quarter of the world's population carries some form of superpower, though not necessarily a very strong power or very many. Additionally, thanks to genetic experimentation during the World Wars and onward there now exists a 5% population who exhibit some form of physically recognizable animal traits. (Ears, tails, fur that sort of thing.) The majority of these live in the former axis and allied countries (Japan, Italy, Germany, Russia, England and the United States.)

      Because of the abundance of powers things are a bit different in this world than in ours. Technology has progressed faster and we have some tech based on powers, such as force-fields. During the Cold War a United Nations registration act passed to help keep track of those with dangerous powers. Those who commit major offenses with powers or have lethal or invasive powers (Telekinesis, Super-strength, Mind-Reading, Invisibility, Teleportation, etc.) are required by law to be registered. It is also possible to become a licensed super or to work for the police or military etc. There are several underground movements both good and evil who are against this registration.

      One of the biggest advances in technology is the teleportation grid. Permanent folds in space all over the globe to allow fast transportation through portals between: New York, NY, USA (With two sub-gates leading from there Directly to Washington DC and to Chicago, Il, USA.); Los Angeles, CA, USA; Tokyo, Japan (and a sub-gate leading from there directly to Hong Kong, china.); London, England, Britain; Moscow, Russia; Sydney, Australia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Cairo, Egypt and Cape town, South Africa

      (Most events in the thread will probably take place in New York, London or Tokyo. some arcs (campaigns) gather a group and go elsewhere for a short time.)


      RULES

      No magic, this includes runes, curses, chants, etc or unrealistic powers. All things must be explainable by what I like to call "superhuman physics" if you have questions about what this means feel free to ask me.

      No stealing from other media, All material must be kept at least a little bit original. or, in other words, don't put stuff we could get sued for. change the names and stuff.

      Remember you can declare an attack but you can't decide whether or not it lands. Only the group admins or the person being attacked can decide if the hit lands. but don't make yourself invincible. You are not a god. This is a game, make it fun.

      If a player is offline you have to wait until they respond to continue. this is known as a time-bubble. (Once they've responded you can respond if even if they're offline.)

      5 posts S&D Rule: If there have been 5 or more posts of only OOC in a row and you want to post more OOC then you must take it to the S&D thread to avoid clogging up this one.

      ANYONE can join this RP, yes, even you.

      No stealing from other media, All material must be kept at least a little bit original. or, in other words, don't put stuff we could get sued for. change the names and stuff.

      Character Sheet Format

      Name: (The name you were born with or the name you are legally using (like to sign a check.))

      Nickname: (the name your friends/buddies call you by, a code name, the name the papers call you or the name people shout when they see you. Include all that apply)

      Power/Skills/Training: (go into plenty of Detail here. remember it has to work with superphysics, no magic. List of already established powers HERE.)

      Equipment: (what do you have besides your powers. super suits go here, as do devices that give you powers. Think weapons, tools, transportation, etc. List of already established technology HERE.)

      Appearance: (Height, Weight, Build, Eye colour, Hair colour, Clothes, etc)

      Date of Birth: (When were you born/hatched/removed from your cloning tube/ built/ arrived on earth etc)

      Gender: (Male, Female, something else? (Remember, Chilognathan genders are Worker, Warrior or Controller.)

      History: (what did you do before you got here? who do you work for? Who are your friends? Who are your enemies? where do you live? What's your purpose in life? How did you get your powers? (remember, most people are born with their powers.))

      Legal Status: (Are you a registered super? do you have citizenship in any countries? Enlisted?(rank?) Do you have a Criminal Record?)

      Other: (Anything you don't mention in the nine above fields that's important to the game.)

      This is the place to put your comments, questions or suggestions for powers and technology in the SH series threads.

      Let's start with Mental Abilities.


      Super-intelligence (When any of a number of processes of the brain simply work more efficiently, to greater capacity or faster.)

      Intuitive abilities (Abilities that allow one to understand something as if by instinct. Examples include the ability to precisely target, knowledge of biology or other sciences and immediate grasp of languages. (They cannot do so without any contact with the information though. for example you can't learn spanish if you've never heard of the language before.))

      Learned abilities or skills (Things like acrobatics, martial arts or knowledge that you study or train in.)


      Telepathic Abilities

      Mind Reading (the ability to sense thoughts of others (including words images, sounds, etc.) and some can send suggestions or communicate mentally with people.)

      Illusions (the ability to influence people's senses to put them in a world of your creating.)

      Machine Speak (the ability to read info from and send commands to computerized systems (even when that system may not have com equipment.) In the case of AIs this is essentially the same as Mind Reading.)

      Animal Speak (the ability to locate and use the senses of animals (see through their eyes etc) and control their behavior.)

      Zombie Speak (the ability to sense and control zombies (See post #8) You can also use any of their senses that still work.)

      Plant Speak (the ability to sense plants and cause them to grow quickly into distinct patterns and shapes. For example you could have vines reach out and grab someone.)

      Psychokinetic Abilities

      People with psychokinetic abilities have the ability to produce a special type of brain wave designed to affect the material world. However, due to varying genetic markers, everyone has a different kind of emitted brainwave. Because of these modifiers, these brainwaves can only effect certain things specific to that brainwave. Any substance or force that you can think of can be manipulated this way.

      The brainwaves are emitted from the subject's brain either at will or in moments of distress. The waves themselves carry energy and a particular command issued forth by the brain. If a person wants to move an object, the emitted brain waves will carry the command "move here" and, when the wave contacts the target, the target will use the energy to move itself.

      A single player may have no more than one PK power. (with certain exceptions. It is possible to have both Ætherkinesis and Fantasmakinesis; or Sonokinesis and Thermokinesis; or Macrokinesis and Microkinesis. but if you do this don't expect to get any other powers.)


      List of Currently established psychokinetic powers:
      (Note that if an item does not appear on this list it doesn't mean it can't exist, merely that we have not thought of it yet.)

      Vectorkinesis (the ability to absorb, impart and redirect kinetic energy in objects.)

      Chronokinesis (the ability to accelerate or decelerate into relative time frames.)

      Gravitotkinesis (the ability to generate and cancel gravitational force.)

      Ætherkinesis (The ability to bend space and make holes across it to create portals that connect two points in space.)

      Fantasmakinesis (Intangibility) (The ability to create a pocket dimension and subsequently enter and manipulate the location of said pocket in order to move around in regular space undetected, untouchable and able to pass through anything.)

      Sonokinesis (the ability to generate and cancel vibrational energy (AKA sound waves and such.))

      Thermokinesis (The ability to change the temperature of your surroundings. Typically used to make the general air a precise temperature or to project columns of high or low heat.)

      Photokinesis (The ability to make Photons 'bounce' off of nothing within a given range. Photokinetics canNOT however cause photons to stop or indeed even change speed. This applies to the entire EM Spectrum.)

      Electrokinesis (The ability to control the flow and speed of free electrons (Electrons not bound to an atom. Examples being electrons floating in the air or in metals.) This ability is mostly used to make magnetic fields or static lightning bolts.)

      Hydrokinesis (The ability to control the location and matter state of Water particles. typically used to create objects out of ice, make waves of water, pull water out of air or to create steam. Most users specialize in either ice or liquid water.)

      Aerokinesis (the control of all gases is banned, please see ventrokinesis and pyrokinesis.)

      Ventrokinesis (The ability to control the location of nitrogen particles. Typically used to create wind or cushions of air. )

      Pyrokinesis (The ability to control the location of oxygen molecules in the air. Typically used to control combustion.)

      Terrakinesis (This ability does not exist due to difficulty to define. please choose one of the next few abilities instead.)

      Metallokinesis (The ability to reshape most pure metals or mostly metallic alloys.)

      Psammokinesis (The ability to fuse, shatter, granulate and reshape silicone as well as the ability to make lighter pieces float in the air (Grains of sand or small shards of glass but not big pieces of glass.)

      Carbokinesis (The ability to reshape carbon into its various allotropes.)

      Macrokinesis (The ability to target and move heavy objects or multiple lighter objects. This ability affects the targeted objects(s)'s momentum.)

      Microkinesis (The ability to reshape most solid materials or to arrange tiny objects in precise ways. The sub-atomic version of this power is essentially alchemy.)

      You don't have to get approved, but If I don't liek your character they'll probably die and stay dead.
      If you're an Alien or a Vampire or an ESPer or something there's a chance you'll end up as a target rather than a hunter.

      This RP takes place on an alternate Earth where steam-tech and clockwork have lead the way through the industrial revolution and beyond. On this Earth (rather than an abundance of oil, coal and other fossil fuels) there are instead an abundance of uranium deposits and several other dense elements. This had the effect of making internal combustion fuels and plastics extremely rare. Vehicles including cars and trains are powered by miniaturized steam reactors. Steam powered tanks were used by both sides in the World Wars. World War II was ended decisively with a nuclear attack on Japan by the United States. Afterwards, The USSR and Communist China built up stockpiles of nuclear weapons and the United States and England followed suit. The standoff has left the two sides in a cold war, neither wanting to destroy the planet yet neither willing to back down.

      Our setting is London, 1958. The cold war rages on quietly in the background and MI6 is still fairly secret. Sometimes, the space race between the USA and the USSR makes the papers. Electric lighting is fairly common. Upper and middle class households can be expected to have a radio or phonograph player. Many areas have movie theatres. The upper and middle class and businesses have miniature-steam-reactor cars, trucks and motorcycles. Television is just coming into being (BIG tv sets with tiny screens). Leftover WWII guns can sometimes be found in the hands of gangsters and such. Tanks and nukes are pretty much exclusively military, since they're so hard to steal and so hard to hide.
