I am the Event Coordinator at my school's radio station and have been for the past three years. Last year I started this 24 hour event called Radiothon that would raise money for a local charity. We had musicians, student organizations, activities, music, special programing. It was fun to plan but also really stressful.

Well it couldn't have been that stressful because I went through with planning it again this year and it paid off because we raised more than double our goal and the school gave us an award. It was nice to be recognized by the school finally since the station has been unknown to most of campus and administration for the last 7 years. Now that I am graduating I'm not sure what is going to happen to the event and the station but at least I can say I did something to make it better.

Here's an update on what is happening in my life right now.

-I am about to graduate college in May

-I have two job interviews lined up for the next couple of weeks. 1 at a marketing firm and the other at a production company.

-I have not had a free weekend in 2 months

-I am giving two presentations at my college's research symposium.

-I have just learned about the amazing powers of caffeine in coffee. Still hate the taste of coffee.

I'm super pumped about the job interviews and the research symposium. People always ask me if I'm scared to graduate and I just reply with "meh" because I'm not scared, I see it as something that had to happen and unpreventable so might as well just embrace it.

    • Crazy week and crazy announcements!

Last week was crazy. I like any Rooster Teeth fan got tickets to see Lazer Team months ago and only just recently realized that I did not know any RT fans in my area. To combat this I planned a post Lazer Team screening hang out. I made a forum post for it, I tried to find and friend people on this site who are from Columbus and then invited them. I was having a hard time getting people together until I stumbled across the Rooster Buckeyes group! A small newly formed group of Ohio RT fans. Thanks to the lovely creator and admin of this group many more people became interested in the event. Finally the night of the Lazer Team premiere came and it was AMAZING!

The movie was great but what was even cooler to me was the support from the fans there. We all talked before the movie, filmed an AHWU, and got to laugh at the hilarity of our favorite people. I wanted to promote the post event before the movie start so I hesitantly got up in front of the theater and got everyone's attention. They all went silent so quickly I was shocked. A room of 350 people quieted down in an instant and intently listened what I had to say just because we all shared the love for Rooster Teeth. I told them about the event afterwards and then they began to cheer! People who know me at my college don't act that enthusiastic about what I have to say!

After we all laughed together for two hours we went to the hangout and...hung...out. But really it was great! Everyone was very excited to meet new people and makes friends!

Because of this post movie hang out and my ever increasing desire to be involved in the community I was made co admin of the Rooster Buckeyes group! In addition I was chosen to be a Guardian at RTX 2016. I am incredibly excited for both of these new opportunities and can't wait to help this community!

This past semester I have been taking a class called Horror Films and Their Audiences. Basically we watch horror movies, analyze them, and learn about cinematic markers, directors, writers, and special effects artists for the horror genre.

As the semester is winding down we were able to go on a field trip and see a horror movie in theaters. We saw It Follows written and directed by David Robert Mitchell with music by Disasterpeace.

      It-Follows-Movie-Poster.jpg

This movie is everything that the horror genre today needs. The tone, the plot, the acting, the monster, the music. All of it is unique, original, and when put together it is perfection.

To say the least I am completely obsessed with the film and utterly terrified.

I will give a brief summary with no spoilers:

After having sex a girl begins being followed by an evil spirit that can take the shape of any human. It only walks towards you and when it reaches you it will try and kill you. She and her friends fight back and try to find out why this is happening.

      Trailer Here

That is the whole plot. Its so simple yet something that can scare anyone. A lot of my classmates equated it with an STD but I found it to be more of a personified form of basic anxieties that people feel. You can run but they will always catch up to you.

The music written by Disasterpeace (Rich Vreeland) was what really made this movie. He previously has written music for the game Fez. All of his work has a chiptune and 80's sound to it. His soundtrack for It Follows was just the right level of beautiful, anxiety ridden, and anxiety inducing. It complimented the film and really helped the audience feel what needed to be felt.

Director and writer of It Follows, David Robert Mitchell, was inspired to make the film by a childhood nightmare where something would follow him in his dreams. And that feeling is brought to the screen. The movie is very dreamlike and has an air of Nightmare on Elm Street. The setting as well as the costuming is very ambiguous. The characters never make references to pop culture and they don't have any dating electronic devices. It sucks you into the movie and prevents you from getting distracted and this will definitely help it remain timeless and classic. Another great thing this about this movie was the camera shots. They were all very cinematic and beautiful without trying too hard.

It scared me. It made me anxious. It made me cringe. I went home and was not able to sleep last night. But it was terrifying in a way that modern horror movies don't do anymore. It provides suspense, thrills, and anxiety. Most horror movies today rely on something called "torture porn." This was started with Saw and is basically defined as extreme gore and violence to provide the scare factor for the movie.

My last commentary on this movie is that Gavin totally called this plot with his Snail question from a podcast a few months ago. The second I found out what the movie was about all I could think was "oh my god. It's the SNAIL!"

All in all I would rate this movie as 10/10 (but I'm not a movie critic so don't take this to heart) and a must see if you love horror movies.

I found French Toast Crunch at the store the other day!

Needless to say I was excited.

and then I reviewed it! It was tasty.

I think my next video is going to include a piece of bread but it will probably go in a different direction than French Toast Crunch.

Hey thanks! Just curious, is this actually JJ or someone acting for his account? Do you usually reply to all your new adds? I’m currently studying social media in school and I’m wondering how people usually like to do these things.
