My boyfriend drives for Fare here in Austin as a second source of income to help pay off his student loans. Last Saturday, he was driving down the frontage road when a person in a Kia decided they wanted to make a turn directly in front of him, resulting in tons of damage to his car. You can actually see the video of the crash in the link provided below as well as hear about my boyfriend and his seat cover and how much he likes it.. What makes it even worse is that the other driver didn't have an active insurance policy at the time, so their insurance isn't going to cover it. He's taking the other driver to small claims court, but we have a feeling that much isn't going to come of it.

What I'm asking of the Rooster Teeth community is help - help that you're not obligated to give, but it would be really appreciated. Even something like $5 or $10 goes a long way towards helping dig us out of a hole. Anything and everything helps, and believe me, I would be so eternally grateful if y'all were able to give us a hand.

You can find the GoFundMe page here if you feel so inclined. Again, we would really appreciate any help you can give. Thanks guys!

And I just want to shout from the rooftops that Punch Brothers is pretty much the most amazing band ever. Chris Thile is a mandolin GOD, and that's coming from an atheist.

Go listen to them! They're fantastic!

So I want to try to organize some kind of meetup - anyone interested? It's July 9 now, so sometime soon, hopefully! I am in desperate need of a life... and I figured this would be a good place to start!

    • This is my RTX picdump. And a story.

I, much like everyone else, attended RTX this year and loooved it. I didn't get to go to as many panels as I would've liked to, but I think that just comes with the territory of not having gone before. Luckily, I did manage to catch a few things I really wanted to see - like watching Joel and Adam play a game that probably literally scared the crap out of them, and the Rooster Teeth Charity and You panel that has really given me the kick in the pants to get more active in my community - especially this community! I also got to meet Barbara and Arryn, both of whom were as lovely as you could imagine and the cast of Day 5, who let me draw on their table to try to garner some Twitter followers. Sadly, I didn't get to meet Burnie, although there is a kind of funny story about that.

So I'm one of the super lucky ones who Burnie follows on Twitter. He's been following me for about 4 years (ever since I tweeted about a picture that Milana Vayntrub photobombed) and I've had a little interaction with him, but honestly, not too much. Also, my boyfriend happens to drive for Fare, who was the official ride share app for RTX, which is actually what he's doing right now and I'm bored so I'm telling this story to nobody.

So Sunday night, with RTX wrapping up, my boyfriend was doing his driving thing and picked up a passenger. Guy gets in the car, boyfriend does the pleasantries thing, and the guy starts talking about RTX. Boyfriend said something along the lines of, "Oh, yeah, I went on Saturday and my girlfriend was there all weekend, she's a really huge Red vs Blue fan" and the guy mentions that he works for Rooster Teeth and that they were the ones who put it on. Guy gets to talking a little more about how RvB was started in his second bedroom in Buda, and boyfriend realizes that he sounded super familiar. He asked the guy if he did any voices, and the guy goes, "Yeah, I'm the voice of Church."

Immediately, my boyfriend goes, "Burnie Burns? Fuckin' A, man!" and shakes his hand. Yes, for serious, Burnie was my boyfriend's Fare passenger, and he stars talking about how much I love Rooster Teeth, and how excited I was for RTX... and then he offhandedly mentions that I'm pretty much obsessed with the podcast. Burnie goes, "Oh, really? What's her username?" Eric says, "Oh, shes's motelcowboy on Twitter" and Burnie goes, "Oh, yeah! She's from Corpus Christi! She's part of the community!" Obviously I'm paraphrasing quite a bit since this was last week and it was entirely secondhand, but still - dude totally remembered me and even remembered where I was from.

When the ride was over, Burnie hopped out, went to the car, and grabbed two of these - commemorative coins from RTX, complete with Burnie's name on them. It's currently in my wallet, somehow bringing me good luck. Not sure how, but I'm convinced that it will.

You know, this is what I really love about Rooster Teeth. They reach out to and connect with their fans through social media, they make an effort to be as nice as possible whenever they're meeting fans, and they manage to still produce high-quality content. I can't even begin to explain how much this indirect interaction meant to me, as silly as that sounds. I have so much hope for the work I plan on doing with SideQuest once that ball gets rolling, and it makes me feel whole again. I love Rooster Teeth so much.

      Hey folks!

I attended the RoosterTeeth Charity and You! panel this year at RTX and it really gave me a kick in the rear to realize that I need to be more involved with charity work here in Austin. I know I live in the home of RoosterTeeth and can probably find a ton of fellow nerds who are interested in giving back - it's just a matter of getting in touch with people!

I'm incredibly interested in organizing some one-off charity events to benefit local Austin nonprofits, like days where a group of nerds goes and helps out or raises money for those in need. Is there anyone here in Austin who'd be interested in getting involved with me? I don't have any particular nonprofits in mind yet, so I'm totally open to any suggestions. I know the RT community does a lot for Extra Life, but I really want to focus on offline stuff where we can get our hands dirty.

If you're interested, get in touch with me on here by commenting or shoot me a PM, and you can also shoot me an email at thesusanturpin@gmail.com.

Hope to hear from y'all soon!
