    • ALL FOOLS DAY!

This is a day when people like to pull pranks...

Actually, All Fools day had a very practical origin.
The origin of April Fools' Day is obscure. One likely theory is that the modern holiday was first celebrated soon after the adoption of the Gregorian Calendar; the term referred to someone still adhering to the Julian Calendar, which it replaced. In many Pre-Christian cultures May Day (May 1), was celebrated as the first day of summer, and signaled the start of the spring planting season. An April Fool was someone who did this prematurely.
Another origin is that April 1 was counted the first day of the year in France. When King Charles IX changed that to January 1, some people stayed with April 1. Those who did were called "April Fools" and were taunted by their neighbors.
In the eighteenth century the festival was often posted as going back to the times of Noah. An English newspaper article published on April 13th, 1789 said that the day had its origins when he sent the raven off too early, before the waters had receded. He did this on the first day of the Hebrew month that corresponds with April. Another possible reference to April Fools' Day can be seen in the Canterbury Tales (ca 1400) in the Nun's Priest's tale, a tale of two fools: Chanticleer and the fox, which took place on March 32nd

So, I was thinking about how I want to spend that week off that's coming up. I know I definitely want to go to the beach, weather permitting. But other than this, clueless at this point. Most of you will be spending Easter with family.
What if that were not an option for you though?
What would YOU do with a week and nothing to do?

I started learning all about Ozzy when I was in high school. He was still with Sabbath in those days, and I was blessed to see Sabbath twice live at the then called Anaheim Stadium. Those were some of the best years of my life.

Regardless of how much you care for someone, there comes a day when they will let you down, be inconsiderate, or just plain cruel. What makes the big difference in relationships, is being able to tough it out. Let the little shit slide.
Yeah, I know. It's painful and hard to do when your in the middle of it all. Trust me, I know. But....
If you can ride out the pain long enough, maybe you will be one of the lucky ones. Maybe you will find a love that completes you.

Why are you like the only person by far that is posting in Caturday?

The thread goes through phases. At times, there are a bunch of people posting. Right now, it looks like I'm the only person interested in it. It amuses me.

I'm afraid to post in the caturday thread because of what happened to jadegalixia. She's right...the rules are not posted.

To be completely honest, I took the thread off watch about a year ago. It went from my friends and I posting pictures of funny cats, to people who took the thread way too seriously. I actually recommend staying away from it, or just lurking. Not to be mean, but I've made some friendlier threads.

As in, Oregon, Canada, Alaska, or otherwise? Over on the east coast, "Up North" refers to New Jersey and on upward. I'd move to Maine if it weren't winter eight months out of the year. Beautiful place, though.

      You're more "out west".

    • WADR

      That's cool.

Shit, now? I'm browsing RT before going to bed.

You'd think, with me visiting Washington DC for the weekend, I'd make better use of my time, but no. I've been here so often, it just seems very . . . overrated. You can't walk a half a block without getting hit up for money. You know how you can tell which ones are crack heads? They don't have a guitar or other instrument.

Oh, hey. you should check out Team R@NDOM. It's pretty . . . random. If you are to expect much from them, you've come to the wrong place.

I'm also listening to the Brasil Guitar Duo. I saw them at a free concert the other week, and, despite the poor acoustics of the "Auditorium" they were pretty damned good.

( this is exactly what I suggested. I had the same mistake happen to me before I actually joined the group. It's an oversight, a simple mistake that can be easily repaired.)

i know, but it's my thread and it's been really overwhelming with so many people in there lately. you guys aren't trolling or anything like that one guy, but i just want to make sure everyone knows the rules since there's a lot of common errors.

looking forward to your future pictures.

As Finch said (in that thread you posted in), there weren't any problems until Geoff linked to the group in the news post. This created a huge influx of new people (and frankly before that it was mostly seasoned, well behaved posters), a large percentage of whom didn't know it was a group thread.

The problem has very little to do with how the group is/was set up. Yes, if it had been set up differently that may have been avoided, but it most certainly wasn't the origin or the cause. Everything worked fine until that surge.

I just replied to this within the Introduce Yourself thread.

Also, anything you need to know is in the Rules and FAQ. Beyond that, there are no rules and you are going to have to mend fences. I saw that you had several posts deleted in the what did you do today, internet? " thread. I don't know what was said, but someone took offense to it and other people saw it, so you are coming in at a disadvantage and you will most likely be a target to the people that saw it. I can't do anything about that.

What you can do, is shrug it off, and post by the rules, and not pay attention to negmods (which don't mean anything). If you feel like staying there, then this is my suggestion on how to get by.

When you click on the link in the news post that brings you to the forum thread, there are links at the top of the page that say "Group Forum" and "Group Profile" to help you navigate around.

I'm not the one that deleted it.

But it looks like you're not a member of the group, and if I recall -- your post [before it was deleted] did not contain a picture in a picture thread. So I would have deleted it, too.

You're welcome to join the group, read the rules, and try again.
