Check the comments for the lo'down on my trip to NYC!

It's currently 12:45am. I've got to get up at 6:00am to make my train to NYC at 7:00am.

I haven't packed yet. Eh, par for the course as far as this procrastinator is concerned.

Either way, I'll see you all when I get back Monday night. Expect a photo dump journal on Tuesday.

Also, I've heard stories of a certain legendary RTMNmon in the area; I'd best be on the look out...

      TravieYak

Remember when I said I was going to make an entry for RTMN over on Roosterpedia?

Well, I finally got around to working on that: here is what I've got at the moment.

I've got to get to bed, work at 7am, but after work tomorrow I'll most likely work on it some more when I'm not packing for my trip to New York City this weekend.

So, any questions, comments, suggestions, complaints, help, etc. as far as the RTMN article is concerned would be greatly appreciated.

      Thank You.

      I sleep now.

      ... would smell like shit.

As someone that collects bad movies, one of the hardest parts is finding them in the first place. This is made even more difficult when a movie has multiple titles and, I've noticed, the more titles a movie has the worse it tends to be in the end. It's even more confusing when a bad movie will often steal a title from another movie or, in some cases, even claim to be a sequel to another movie when it really isn't in the first place.

Example: If I was to tell you that we were going to watch "Terminator 2" on RTMN, you'd probably be expecting to be watching this, right?

      terminator_two_judgement_day.jpg

Well, wouldn't you be disappointed when we actually watched this:

      terminator2.jpg

"Terminator 2" is better known as "Bruno Mattei's Terminator 2" (made in 1990, a full year before the real one) in order to differ itself from "James Cameron's Terminator 2"; who the fuck, you might ask, is Bruno Mattei? He's one of the most notorious Italian directors of the 1980s as far as bad cinema goes, and he's just as infamous for often having movies that were either faux-sequels to other films or having movies that shared titles with another much more famous one. Want another example?

      attachment.php?attachmentid=6919&thumb=1

Bruno Mattei directed a film that goes under the title, "Jaws 5: Cruel Jaws". No joke; and, before you ask, no it is not an official sequel and, yes, it sucks. Although it does have a funny scene where an annoying girl in a wheelchair gets eaten by the shark. Sounds CRUEL, I know, but trust me; she had it coming. I think RTMN has taught us many times that a little girl in any bad movie is going to be annoying.

Now, back to "Bruno Mattei's Terminator 2". It's also known as "Shocking Dark", "Alienators" and, get this, "Aliens 2"; a supposed sequel to another James Cameron movie, "Aliens". Speaking of "Aliens", there's another movie out there called "Alien 2: On Earth" (which came out a year after "Alien" and, therefore, six years(!) before "Aliens"):

      Alien2Poster.jpg

It's about a bunch of spelunkers in a cave who get killed by an Alien who, somehow (as it's never explained), is on Earth. While it's not directed by Bruno Mattei, it's just another example in this sub genre of bad movies trying to leech off the success of more successful movies; and not doing a really good job of it. I suppose the question, therefore, is: "Are there any movies that actually did this successfully?"

In my opinion, yes; and no. Probably the most infamous would have to be "Zombi 2", which is actually a sequel to "Dawn of Dead". Confused? Let me explain, but it's going to get even more confusing: When "Dawn of the Dead" was released in Europe it was done so under the care of producer Dario Argento who re-edited the movie to "make it more suitable for European audiences" and retitled it "Zombi"; it was a hit, to say the least.

      Zombi_2_19791.jpg

Before the film came out, however, another Italian director by the name of Lucio Fulci (one of my favorite directors of all time) was working on a Zombie movie which was to be simply entitled, "Zombie." After the success of "Dawn of the Dead" aka "Zombi", Dario Argento became the producer for "Zombie" and, in order to cash in on the success of "Zombi", retitled "Zombie" as "Zombi 2", a supposed sequel to "Dawn of the Dead"; even though it wasn't. This would eventually lead to numerous other sequels being made in the "Zombi" series wherein a movie would simply be called "Zombi 3", "Zombi 4" etc. to cash in on the name.

What's the point of this journal, you might be asking at this point? (If you're even still reading...) One, I thought it would be interesting/educational and, two, a unique experience happened to me recently. I was searching eBay for a VHS copy of an ultra rare Pierre Kirby movie called, "Dressed to Fire" and, surprise, surprise, I actually found one! Twenty Bucks, buy it now! So, I did. Soon after I was contacted by the seller to alert me to the fact that, after checking, the movie inside the box was not, in fact, "Dressed to Fire". To compensate me for his mistake he offered to give me any other movie he was selling as a replacement, plus he'd give me the VHS slipcase of "Dressed to Fire" for free!

Well, I was upset, sure, but he did have something I was intrigued about; a movie entitled "The Outsider" starring Rutger Hauer (played "Roy Batty" in Blade Runner and was the main character/cop in "Split Second"). Therefore, I chose that one. Interesting thing about it, to me, was that when I searched for it on IMDB.com I came up with nothing. According to the site the movie doesn't exist. (Of course, IMDB is really just a glorified Wikipedia when you think about it, because it can really be edited by just about anyone.) It wasn't until I did some detective work that I found out that what I had bought, "The Outsider", was in fact the English title for a Dutch film entitled, "Grijpstra & De Gier"; a fact that is not even mentioned on IMDB.com!

This is the back of my car, each sticker tells something about me:

      2010-07-07130446.jpg

Iron Maiden: I love them, certainly one of my favorite heavy metal bands.

Helloween: I also love them, one of my favorite power metal bands.

Big Brother is Watching: 1984 is one of my favorite books, ever, for various reasons.

Def Leppard: Probably, in most likely hood, my favorite band from the 1980's.

Rockstar Logo: If I had to pick a favorite game publisher, it would probably be them.

      Limozeen: My favorite fictional band.

Banzai Institute Logo: An organization from one of my favorite movies ever, "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension".

Stratovarius: I enjoy this band, certainly one of my favorite symphonic metal bands.

Autumn Above: My friends acoustic metal band, you should totally check them out. Totally. Do It. NOW.

But wait, that's not all! The real reason for this journal was to tell you all about NERDFITTI; don't know what that is, you say? For shame! It's a website that specializes in vinyl decals that deal with the more nerdier, or geeky, side of the things from logos to characters. Best of all? It's run, and all the items are made by, fellow RT'er Hamstar!

I learned about his website from seeing pictures from fellow friends on this site showing off his work on their automobiles and I said to myself, "Holy hell, that's sweet!" So, I sauntered over to his website and, need less to say, I was impressed by the selection and went on a spending spree. Imagine my surprise when Hamstar contacted me directly via a message on RT telling me that I was, in fact, his very FIRST customer! Me? Really!? Awesome! So, what did I get in the mail just a few days ago, but this:

      2010-07-07153931.jpg

A treasure trove of goodies in an envelope that had to be taped down in order to hold in all the awesomeness! Seriously, Hamstar, THANK YOU. You're awesome, and I wish you all the luck in the world with this business venture! You know I'll certainly be buying from you again, and I cannot wait to add some of these to the decal collection on my car! smiley12.gifsmiley13.gif

      I see what you mean.

No words really form in my mind when this happens, not exactly anyway. I feel like it's almost like a very primal level of understanding and trying to tap into it consciously requires a great deal of mental effort than when this event occurs on it's own.

I also receive a foreboding feeling. Perhaps it is as you say, that the mind cannot comprehend this new thing and therefore fears it because on a basic (maybe not primal since we know of it) level we fear the unknown. Maybe it's for another reason entirely.

I just don't know. And for once maybe that's half the battle.

Oh yeah he is a fucking geek at heart. His voice mail use to be a song from Zelda. I can't remember which. I use to work at a LAN center in high school and I asked my boss if I could start doing lock ins. They were closed, we would just be paying to play while no one was there (the idea made him a ton of cash)... but Cody and Mattie did one with me.

Makes me want to go back to a Raw event. Problem is you have to go to those things with people who know their stuff. My sign would be of the triforce.
