Manda sent me a text telling me to "Rally the Troops". I have no idea what that means, exactly, but I figure I'd make a journal with that title, none the less.

What does it even mean? It means that Manda and I are about to play some CoD4: Grenade of Grenades.

If you want in, send either of us a message on XBL.

The following journal is about professional wrestling and---

Okay, now that no one is reading this journal anymore, let me continue:

For a ten year period, I want to say between 1998 and 2008, I participated in backyard wrestling from the beginning of middle school to a year or two after I graduated high school. It was stupid, sure, but it was fun. Granted, both groups that I belonged to during this time were not of the "hardcore" variety. Our "fighting" was as fake as can be and we more or less focused on the story lines, as well as our characters, than any actual "violence". This isn't to say that there wasn't any unfortunate accidents.

Even so, I don't regret any of it because I made a lot of friends and memories in that decade of time that will live with me forever; and I've got the scars to prove it. In fact, next time you see me, just look at my nose and my right eyebrow for proof of that.

After over a year decade of doing this odd little hobby, we all decided to pack it up and move on with our lives. Some of us just stopped all together, like me. I never considered myself to be a "wrestler", believe me. I've been a fan of professional wrestling since the early 90s, when I was in elementary school, but it was never the actual wrestling that I enjoyed. I love the characters, the story lines, and the showmanship. If anything, I enjoyed backyard wrestling because it was an excuse to put on costumes, pretend to be someone else and entertain people.

Three of my friends who I backyard wrestled with, however, actually took it a step further and went to wrestling school. Two of them left after awhile and started their own "underground" wrestling promotion, which has a Youtube Channel as well as plays on a few local television stations. The third friend, who some might know as the OFFICIAL PROFESSIONAL WRESTLER of LATE NITE JENGA JAM, "Tough Talk" Tony Spencer, continues to attend the school weekly and already has two championship belts to his name as he works in the independent wrestling circuit of New England.

One such belt is the NWA Liberty States Tag Team Championship. Now, if you're not a fan of professional wrestling you probably don't even know what the NWA is; and I don't mean the rap group. Basically, in a nutshell, the NWA stands for the National Wrestling Alliance and is, more or less, an organization/union of all the independent wrestling federations around the country. To say this is a big deal is rather an understatement, because really, to be apart of it and to hold one of it's titles is a bit of an honor.

So, where does that leave me? Not anywhere, really, although I did help the other two friends with their wrestling promotion for a little bit in the beginning. I was playing the "host" of the show, as well as ring announcer plus the main interviewer to the wrestlers. If you watch the first few shows of the first season you will see me, but unfortunately, work got in the way and I was forced to step down from my position. Which is a shame because it was a lot of fun.

Although, they've recently had their once a year super show called, "May Madness", and I returned to my old hi-jinks; but this time I caused a little bit of trouble (in character). Of course, this was all filmed last year, so things have changed since then (like, I don't have short hair anymore), but it was still fun none the less.

Next weekend they're filming the next "May Madness" which, like this one, most likely won't air for another year; but it should be fun as I may even get to see some action in the ring! Me? Wrestling in a REAL ring? This will be interesting, no doubt. Most likely won't be anything too over the top, as they'll just show me some basics, but it should be cool none the less.

If you're interested in checking out the show, you can go to: Project Zero Wrestling

Although, if you just want to see me doing my thing than you can just watch this:

P.S. "Tough Talk" Tony Spencer makes a special guest appearance as "Sgt. Ali"

      FINAL FANTASY 8

      view_345270_1_1243520566.jpg

Ask most gamers which Final Fantasy game is their favorite and I would say, for the most part, they would tell you that it's Final Fantasy 7. After all, it was one of the major releases for the Playstation a year or so after it's initial release in the mid-90's. However, for me, I didn't own a Playstation until well into the late-90s; and I can still remember to this day how I happened to come to wanting to own one, and the game that convinced me.

Fall, 1999, I was starting 7th grade and a friend of mine would not stop talking about these two games that he had recently received; Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 8. Seeing as how he only lived down the street from our school I journeyed with him to his humble abode after school and proceeded to watch him play Metal Gear Solid for about an hour; ironically I watched him finish the game as his save point at the time was around the end.

Before I went home, however, I watched as he put in the disc for Final Fantasy 8 and I watch the opening cinematic; to say I was blown away would be an understatement. I fell in love immediately. Before my Mom came and picked me up I got to watch my friend play the first 10 or so minutes of the game and, by the time I hear a familiar car horn outside, I knew I wanted to see more.

As soon as I got outside and into my Mom's car I told her simply, "I know what I want for Christmas."

Christmas, 1999, I received my Playstation, as well as a copy of Final Fantasy 8, and I played it all day and night; but what exactly did I love about the game so damn much that makes me consider it my second favorite video game evar? For me, a game needs to have certain qualities for me to consider them favorites of mine: re-playability, nostalgia and something that I feel I can connect with; what do I mean by that exactly?

Well, around this time in my life I was starting to slip into a very deep depression and would often use video games, the computer and anime as forms of escapism in my life. For some reason, I was able to connect with the main character of Final Fantasy 8, Squall, because we were both shy people that didn't really talk to people, nor were we too open about our feelings, as well. We preferred to be alone.

Plus, the fact that Squall's love interest in the game, Rinoa, looked very much like a girl I was crushing on at the time helped a little bit, too. In the end, I think that's what this game boils down to: deep at heart I am nothing more than hopeless romantic and, in my mind, this story was mostly a love story which I felt really turned off a lot of gamers. That, and maybe the game mechanics. I mean, as much as I love the game I cannot help but agree that it's flawed at times, too.

The Junction System, the main aspect of the game that controls how you fight, use magic and summon GFs (guardian forces) can be a little daunting at first, as well as confusing, but once you get the hang of it it's actually quite useful and simple. The other aspect of the game that be a bit frustrating at first, as well as time consuming, is the "Triple Triad" card game. If ever there was a side quest in an RPG, this would be the ultimate.

Which I guess has always been my issue with RPGs in general; I play them for the story and I grow impatient the more and more time elapses between bits and pieces of that story being fed to me. I hate collecting things. I generally find side-quests to be a bore. I just want to play the story, dammit. I want to know what happens next. Unfortunately, and albeit ironically, as much as I do love this game I have never finished it. The furthest I ever got was the castle right at the end before you fight the final boss.

Believe me, though, I've replayed this game many times and have loved it more and more since that fateful day. It's my mission in life to finish this game some day, some how, and without cheats or a guide; obviously.

If you don't have shell access, don't bother. You won't be able to upgrade the software, which will bite you in the ass.

If you don't have at least a basic understanding of PHP, HTML, and CSS, you'll be in over your head.

Search for security upgrades for whatever software bundle you use. If you go with MediaWiki, at the VERY least I highly recommend ConfirmAcccount and AbuseFilter.
