I made it myself. There's some Chopin in the middle and at the bottom.
Yes, I know some songs don't work. Sue me.

Alright, just to get this out of the way: I have owned an Xbox360 and a Wii for longer than I have owned a Playstation 3. I am in no way a fanboy of any console. There. Let's see how many people actually read this before calling me a fanboy.
On now to the actual review. Are all of the things you've heard true?
In my experience? Yes and no.
True or False:
OMG TEH SYSTEM CRASHES SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH
Answer: False. The first day I got my PS3 I had it on literally all day without turning it off. Didn't crash or even hiccup. I had some trouble with the wireless controller but that was just because I'm an idiot. So, false.
True or False: The system overheats quickly.
Answer: False. Again, the first couple of days I had this system, I had it on almost constantly. It is supremely efficient at whisking heat away. Just put your hand near the vent and you can feel it. It needs maybe...two to three inches of clearance on ONE side to vent properly. So, yeah, false.
True or False: It's difficult to find other players online, or the service is laggy/slow/gay
Answer: False. Games like Resistance, Call of Duty 4 and most notably Warhawk have HUNDREDS of games going at any given time. I highly recommend Warhawk and Resistance. The online service, in my experience anyway, has never lagged. So, False. Did I mention it's free?
True or False: There is no rumble and the SIXAXIS motion control is just a gimmick.
Answer: False and False. Well...the first bit is sorta true. I heard somewhere that Sony IS making a controller with rumble. But, personally? I don't even notice it's gone. I haven't really noticed rumble since Starfox64.
SIXAXIS a gimmick? Not in my experience. Games like Lair and Heavenly Sword make excellent use of the motion capabilities. Lair takes some getting used to, but once you do, it's really quite good. Not nearly as awkward as the Wii's controls often are.
True or False: The system is super loud.
Answer: False. Totally, completely false. Unless you're Daredevil. This system is whisper quiet. Not like the jet engine sound of the 360 (which I've learned to ignore anyway, but still.) the PS3 emits only a gentle, low hum. Which is puzzling considering the sheer amount power it has...but I'm not complaining.
That's really all I can think of at the moment. For the price, you get an excellent system with a great online community, excellent games to play and a built in Blu-Ray player. Which is really cool.
So, if you have any questions, please, ask away.
Just trying to clear up some of the misconceptions.

USNORTHCOM recently announced on their official web site that they are ready to implement martial law. In a press release, the military command stated that the organization is ready to respond to any homeland defense or civil support mission requirement. Considering that George W. Bush has signed a directive making the President a dictator over continuity of government operations in the case of a catastrophic emergency, any homeland defense or civil support mission requirement would include the implementation of martial law. Below is the full press release which contains all sorts of wonderfully crafted politically correct language from their PR people that attempts to convince us that the use of the military domestically for all declared emergencies is perfectly acceptable.
U.S. Northern Command’s primary mission is Homeland Defense, and the command stands ready to respond to any homeland defense or civil support mission requirement.
“The U.S. military absolutely has the capacity to respond to potential threats within our nation today. It will get better in this coming year and continue to improve beyond that,†said Gen. Gene Renuart, USNORTHCOM commander.
Established in 2002 as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, USNORTHCOM has dramatically expanded DoD’s focus on all aspects of Homeland Defense, including planning and exercising, as well as organizing new headquarters and units that are specifically tailored for domestic response.
USNORTHCOM has prepared detailed plans for responding to situations that range from pandemic influenza to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear events, and the command has redefined its readiness capabilities since Hurricane Katrina.
When it comes to providing forces in response to incidents, the command has nearly 50 National Guard officers fully integrated within its operations, in addition to National Guard Civil Support Teams located within every U.S. state and territory, and 17 regional consequence response units.
USNORTHCOM also utilizes an active-duty military response unit of nearly 450 Marines who are the “gold standard†for responding to weapons of mass destruction attacks. In addition, there are pre-identified active-duty and Reserve components (4,000 members each) on a short string to provide additional muscle to initial response teams.
USNORTHCOM’s primary mission remains defending the homeland, and Americans can be assured the U.S. military is ready and capable of responding to attacks within the United States.
The establishment of USNORTHCOM has helped blur the lines between police and the military. It is an illegal and unconstitutional entity that should be abolished. In the press release they admit that the National Guard is integrating into their operations and that they are setting up new centers of operations which will act as fusion centers between different authorities. This combined with a report from the Progressive indicating that private businesses will be brought into the martial law system and given shoot on sight privileges is certainly a disturbing development. These things would not be happening if the government didn’t have future plans to use this wide ranging control system designed specifically for martial law. USNORTHCOM is clearly shaping up to be the command and control apparatus that will be used to implement martial law if such a need arises in the near future. As USNORTHCOM continues to push forward with their system and as the economy continues to unravel, we might be seeing USNORTHCOM deployed in the United States to quell violence if an economic collapse takes place.
