In the news not too long ago there was an incidence where a bunch of teachers convinces a class of 6th grade students who were on their last days of a week-long field trip, that there was a terrorist loose with a gun. They then had one of the staff dress in a mask and point a gun at the students. They were told to hide under the tables...ect. The kids were screaming, crying, and in general just panicking.....I'm not sure if they got in trouble for this "terrorist drill" or not though.... so.

What do you think is the best method of preparing children for a terrorist attack.

I've been very busy this week. On Monday I found out that I got the job with PC Consultants and I began work immediately. So needless to say I wasn't exactly prepared for it. So now in the mornings I'm working at the funeral home, and then in the afternoon I work with PC Consultants until 5pm. I do have every other Monday off work now though, so I'm really happy about that smiley0.gif !

I've managed to check a few watch-list alerts over the last few days, but I'm still behind. Hehe, I hadn't realized how much of a drain working 2 jobs would have on me!

I picked up the 2 disk version of Pan's Labyrinth yesterday, along with The Wild. If you have not seen Pan's Labyrinth I highly suggest you do, it's an amazing film.

I still plan on posting the pictures from Vegas, I'll hopefully get that done on Monday.

And have brought back gifts smiley0.gif . They got me a deck of cards, a limited edition 2007 Las Vegas mug, and the 20th anniversary edition, 2 disk set, of the Transformers Movie smiley1.gif . I had actually put in a request for the first season of Beast Wars Transformers, but they get props for trying smiley0.gif .

They took a lot of pictures, but unfortunately they are not very good quality. But let me tell you Cesar's Palace is friggin AWESOME smiley11.gif I will sift through the photos later and post a few of the better ones!

    • I Died Again Last Night

I had these weird series of dreams last night, and they started out by killing me off. I was driving my car home on Red Arrow Highway which intersects with the one I live on. I go around one of the more sharp curves and since I'm only using on hand on the steering wheel and not really paying close attention my car goes off the road a little bit. This should not have been enough to cause me to wreck, but apparently the gravel on the edge washed away during a rain storm leaving a drop off of several inches. So when I go gently correct my steering it jerks the wheel sideways and I wind up flying off the road and into a cherry orchard. My body starts tingling all over and I can't help but notice how beautiful the trees are, covered in pinkish blossoms. I don't remember exactly what happened after that, my mind just seemed to focus on the flowers and I woke up in a cold sweat with a pins-and-needles feeling all over....and my leg and arm hurt numbly. Suddenly I realized that I had died, yet again.

So I manage to fall back asleep and time moves forward. I'm playing a very life-like game that was a mixture of Star Craft and Black and White. I'm (along with a several of my friends) trying to make a stand against a tyrannical government. There was a top-down view which was like the original games. But then after I had built the start of a new civilization and the attackers came. I was suddenly inside the town, with the rest of the people and my friends in a more FPS feel, only real. The government we were battling was a mixture of technologies that looked like someone had taken standard military vehicles and spliced them with very shiney, pimped out, kick ass, cars. Our pity-full town could not stand up against the huge assault, so we pulled back and fled, in a small pod-like vehicle leaving the enemy to destroy our hard work.
We then made a new tiny establishment to call home, but we were without resources now so we took one last look at what was left of the old town (only about 6 buildings) and then pulled the plug. I was then inside a small living-room/bedroom combo thing with Severn Alex and Carly. Carly and Alex were married now and were sitting on the couch holding hands watching an old home movie I had recorded years ago when they first started dating. Severn was sitting on the floor, staring at the computer which had just turned off, where I should have just been. I sat down on the floor on the opposite side of the couch Severn was at and began to watch the movie. It was at Carly's parents house, during the summer, right after a volley ball game. The team I was on had just royally spanked their team and I was being a pain-in-the-ass winner! It then moved into a card party that happened later that day where Carly was being her usual Violent self and Alex who normally hated playing cards, was trying to learn to like the game.
Then they make a comment about how they wish I was able to make them some more home movies like this, the ones that capture the fun times. So of course I don't see why I can't, so I ask them if they really want me to follow them around with my camera again, and they don't even acknowledge that I've said anything. I reach down to pick up a newspaper to throw at them, and suddenly I realize that I don't have any arms, or even a torso. In fact I'm not actually there.....
That's when I realize (in the dream) that I died in that car accident, and now at least 2 years have passed since that day....

When I finally woke up again I was suddenly feeling very depressed. It took all the way until about 11:00am before I started feeling better.

Well, my parents have left for Vegas for the week. So my sister and I have the house to do with as we please. *evil grin* Unfortunately I am not feeling particularly festive, so I guess it will just have to stay in one piece for now.
I let them borrow my camera so that they could take pictures until their fingers fall off. Should they happen to fill my memory card they said that they might drop by Best Buy and get another. I wasn't going to argue, 2 memory cards would be nice to have smiley1.gif .

Also I've just seen Spiderman 3, and I have to admit that I really liked it! I was very skeptical, especially with the main inclusion of the stupid sandman character. But it actually played out nicely. And I found no fault with the animation as some critics did. Honestly, how else could you animate a giant blob of dirt?.....and being someone who has seen some very massive (sometimes exploding) blobs of dirt, it looked close enough to life that I found little fault with it. The thing I really didn't like about it was how little Venom was actually in it......he's one of my all time favorite villains......and they really didn't set it up for another movie with him and Carnage in it either.....which was also slightly disappointing. But the parts that Venom was actually in it, it was absolutely joygasmic smiley12.gif .

I'm also continuing the remodeling project on my garden. My only real constraints now are money smiley3.gif . And since my camera is across the country I cannot take any pictures of the progress yet. But I have a new plan for it this year. It's expanding upon my old plan, with a few new modifications that I hope will make it a little less expensive to build and less work to maintain. And somehow I managed to hurt my ankle yesterday as I was digging around and now it's causing some discomfort.....stupid ankle.

    • Burnt Cookies

Wow, already Wednesday, where does the time go? I started this week off sleep deprived and now, 3 nights later I'm still not caught up on the sleep.

I tried making cookies yesterday (actual cookies and not just the dough smiley12.gif ), and I can not believe how difficult those buggers are to make......that's what I get for following the instructions instead of listening to my inner chef. It said to bake them for 12-15 minutes, so I set the timer for 12 minutes......and right around the 10 minute mark I smelled burning ingredients! I run over, pull open the door, and was greeted by a face full of smoke smiley4.gif .

Those cooking were lost, but fortunately I still had enough for another batch and a half, which turned out alright (aside from being somewhat flat). This second time I set the timer for just 9 minutes smiley6.gif . Stupid instructions didn't know what they were talking about.

Next time I think I'll just stick with something easier, like Pecan Pie or something smiley12.gif .

    • My Camera

I'm sorry for the lack of a weekend question, I was distracted by the events that surrounded my poor camera this weekend. As most of you know I love my camera to bits.....but unfortunately I was a little bit careless with it when I was taking some pictures down in the wetlands. I accidentally dropped my camera, it rolled down a small, steep incline, and splashed into the water smiley3.gifsmiley7.gifsmiley5.gif ...... I recall yelling "NO!" followed by a jumble of words, noises, and foul language as I tried to save it from it's grim fate while it tumbled down the hill....but alas! it was for nothing!

I quickly take the memory card and battery out as soon as it's out of the water, and fortunately the way the camera fell had kept an air bubble in the card chamber, so the data was fine smiley1.gif .

The water did minimal damage to the camera, but the nasty bog grit got deep into the camera and it's moving parts, so I had to take it apart and clean it (thank god for the year of tech class I took!). I just tested it about half an hour ago, and I think it'll still work alright, it just is clumsy when it comes to focusing now. Hopefully it'll last until I can save enough money to get a new one smiley7.gif .

When I sat down to scan my latest image (titled Broken Wineglass Flowers) the back of the chair I sat in broke off. I began to fall backwards and in an attempt to catch myself I sent my hand through the nearest window! Broken glass went everywhere, it even sliced a hole through the very thin curtains. Yet somehow I got out of it without a scratch. My thumb hurts and my fingers are tingling (and it's been about half an hour since it happened). For some reason my hand thinks it should be in pain, even though nothing has happened to it....it's kind of disturbing, like the damage is there and I just can't see it....

Hopefully this feeling passes before long.
