I finally finished my friends video this morning, and it's the first to have my shiny new logo on the tail end of it. I'll be giving it to Alex this afternoon.

Hmm....not really much to report on.....

I've beaten Bioshock twice. I liked the "good" ending better than the other. I've also managed to snag all but 2 of the achievements, so I imagine I'll be playing it a third time to see if I can get them.

I saw Stardust not too long ago. The movie starts off a bit cheesy, but I wound up very much enjoying it a little later. I will be buying it when it comes out.

I don't think I'll be writing or drawing or reading much (basically anything that involves brain power) until I get everything happening sorted out. I'm still not entirely sure which direction to go with my jobs, and it's still a while yet before I move out.

I hope everyone is doing alright, I've not been on much to check my alerts.

Oh, I just about forgot. We are just 9 pieces of trim and 1 light fixure away from having a completely remodeled (and very nice looking) bathroom smiley0.gif . I'll be stealing my sisters new camera (she just got one today) to take a few pics.

I'll be using this logo at the end of the video I'm making for a friend.

I've decided to change my "Altered Inc." name (which I put on the back of all the home made cards/videos I make) to "Altered Ink" merely because I like the implications better. With the new name I also decided to actually create a logo, unfortunately I wound up creating several versions of the logo. So, I would like some assistance in choosing the best one. And since RvB seems to dislike images at the moment I have to link them smiley6.gif . Please and thank you smiley0.gif

      ...for now anyway.

I've not been able to work with Ravitron since the week before last....so I'm a bit down about that. I knew I wouldn't be working much right off, but I was hoping to have a bit more of a start that what I did.......though what I did work was kind of impressive. I only worked for 4 days, and made over $500 before the government decided they needed to take a chunk out of it.....stupid government people smiley5.gif .

For now I'm dealing with my other 2 jobs, and I'm really getting annoyed with the funeral home. My boss is so incredibly cheap that he wanted to patch a broken 5 gallon bucket which we broke last week. Fortunately I threw it away the day it happened, and the trash was collected soon after. But now he's having Robby use "the goo bucket" for washing cars. Robby said that he thinks he's going to wear gloves the enitre time just to be safe.
Plastic 5 gallon buckets don't cost that much! So instead of using a bucket that's used for organs and other various bodily goo, he should have just had him go get a new one!

At least I'm able to catch up on my debts a bit with the extra money I got from Ravitron.

I'm still not sure when I'm going to be moving out, it should be happening within the next 2 months I would imagine.....but you never know.

Please forgive me for not keeping up with all my alerts, feel free to message me, I have checked my messages a couple times.

This morning I had the day off from both of my jobs. I had just finished eating a bowl of Frosted Shredded Mini-Wheats while browsing RvB and deviantART when the phone rang. I look at the caller ID, and it says "Ravitronics." Well I only know one person who works for Ravetron, and that's Sev, so I answer. It turns out that his place of employment has outgrown their current staff and would be needing extra help on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and asked if I would be interested in traveling to Indianapolice for the duration of those days to assist.
Seeing a ripe opportunity presenting itself to me, I jumped at the chance and began inquiring about the specifics. So he transfers me to his Boss. After a short conversation I learned that even with my lack of skills in the field of networking, I would be starting at $9.00 an hour and that if I could also help Sev out with a job today. Well, since I really didn't have anything else extremely pressing happening today, and really wanted to make a good impression, I decided to go for it. Sev picked me up from my house and we went strait to work.
Not counting lunch I worked 8.5 hours, this, my first day and I had a great time while doing it. Not once did I have to stand or sit around wondering what I should be doing smiley1.gif . So hopefully this trend will continue when I go to Indianapolice.
Now all I have to do is let my other Bosses know that I will be taking time off for "personal matters" those three days. Don't get me wrong, I still like my PC job, it's just not going much at all like I had hoped it would be. It's a long drive and the wobbly hours usually just provide enough money to cover my weeks cost of gas.....so I definitely need something more stable......Plus, Ravetronics is located locally in Benton Harbor, so it's a very short drive smiley0.gif .
Here's to hoping for the best smiley11.gif

      EDIT:

I almost forgot, another reason this is such a big deal is that I've been needing a consistent job in order to pay for the rent in the duplex I'm planning on moving into (temporarily for about a year) with Alex and Sev as my roommates (until Alex and Carly get married and they move in together).

    • Dead People Need Underwear Too!

      (safe-for lunch funeral home rambling)

Why is it that so many families that bring in clothes for their deceased loved one, forget to bring them underwear? Please do your funeral directors a favor next time someone you love passes, and remember to supply the skivvies.

I've not actually had to dress a body where there was no underwear provided, but I would assume not having them would cause a bit of trouble when applying the rest of the normal wardrobe. Use your imagination, and you should understand where I'm coming from.

Last week we had another 400+ pounder in the funeral home. Sadly, this guy was only about 14 or so years old, and (before embalming) weighted about 416lbs! I got to wondering how the parents could have let their child grow to such proportions, and then I realized that the parents were probably also large people.....you know similar eating habits and all.....that was my best conclusion anyway since I never actually saw any of the family myself. Really the whole situation is rather sad. Sad that the parents and their child neglected their personal health to such an extent, and even worse that the parents had to suffer through losing their child because of it.......talk about learning things the hard way smiley3.gif . And if I had to guess, no one affected by his death will be making any changes that would improve their health. Again, this is based off my own speculation, but it has been bothering me whenever I happen to think about it.

So today I got to deliver and acquire death certificates from various doctor's offices and hospitals....which was kind of fun. I enjoy being able to get out of the building and drive around a bit. I also went to 2 different churches and helped everyone haul the caskets up the stairs in preparation for the funeral services.

Now I'm covering the phones here at my PC job, talk about a form of "culture shock."

Have a good weekend all! Maybe I'll have a weekend question to post....maybe not.

    • Weekend Away

I was gone on a 3 day weekend trip to Toledo Ohio with some friends. I love any excuse to get away from Michigan. I really got to thinking about how much better I feel away from the pollution from Chicago and surrounding areas. One of these days I can definitely see myself moving away from this state. I'd probably move to somewhere around Arkansas, since I have lots of family in that area, or even further south. I would consider California, but the cost of living there is a bit high, but you never know.
So this weekend wasn't anything exceptional. We spent lots of money eating at restaurants, caused havoc at the pool, played cards, the usual. The days were spent sitting and taking notes at the convention that we were there to attend. I wasn't really looking forward to attending at first, but once I got there I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately of the 6,000 people that attended, only a small handful were exceptionally attractive and thew were already dating or married, so my hopes of accidentally meeting a hot girl willing to date me was dashed to pieces, but I think I'll get over it smiley8.gif .
Sorry, I have no pictures from any of this, I have yet to get a new camera, and I'm just about flat broke now smiley6.gif .
Now I think it's time for me to get organized. I've already weeded through my CD collection and have gotten rid of the old stuff I don't listen too anymore (it's amazing how my taste in music as evolved since I was 14). Maybe I'll clean up my room today, then go see Transformers again...... or maybe Live Free or Die Hard again.....

Does anyone have a movie recommendation? I've already seen Transformers (duh), Live Free or Die Hard, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and Ratatoullie.

This afternoon while working for PC Consultants, I finally went on my first solo business call. One of the computers at this church/school combo mysteriously lost internet connection and I got to figure out how to re-gain the connection. Really what I did any of the employees there could have done, but apparently they were under staffed or something so they called it in. I just reset the routers, jiggled some cables, and reset the computer, and everything went back to normal. Yeah not that impressive I know, but it's definitely progress smiley0.gif .

That's an interesting way of looking at it - and something I'll think about. But at what stage does the things people do become defying nature? I'm writing this on a piece of technology that lets me talk with someone half the world away, I'm sitting in a building that has been built on what were probably nice green fields once... These don't count as natural things.

Yet people are part of nature too. An irritating, destructive part, but still part. Is changing our environment to suit ourselves much different to a dog or wolf walking in circles before lying down as it pads snow flat? Building a computer as a tool different from a chimpanzee using a stick as a tool to get insects out of tree stumps?

...don't ask me why I'm playing devil's advocate here - people are crap, they... we seem to revel in what can be destroyed. We are part of nature and still destroying it. How self-destructive is that?

People do see themselves as apart from nature. I suppose that is a key part of why they'd want to change themselves so severely. It is a way of saying that human kind can go it alone.

Also, neck ties are a ridiculous piece of clothing, that's why I specifically mentioned them in your journal. Normally, if someone ties something round their neck you'd ask them to have counselling... But make it a piece of fashion, and suddenly you're encouraging kids to learn how to do it...

If I get run over by a bus tomorrow, be sure to mention to everyone that there will be NO TIES at my funeral...

Thanks for that. But how did you see the Victorian's motives, then? My understanding (admittedly unresearched and anecdotal) was that Queen Victoria was asked her opinions on things. This is apparently why male homosexuality was illegal (she didn't approve), but female homosexuality wasn't (the story goes that Victoria said "ladies don't do that sort of thing").

The whole point was that society was rebuilt, according to ideas of decency and morality that probably clashed with how things were done before, and seem repressive and prudish to us today.

The great double journal entry comment catch up...

Firstly, I'm taking the smiley0.gif as a general sign that you think it's good to go into some education, try and improve myself, gain some direction in my life and so on, and so on...? If so, thank you! If not... well, I read into it what I wanted, and am still going to take it as a good thing... smiley8.gif

O.o Your place of work scares me....

Well, I was going to start with "it scares me too sometimes...", then it occurred to me that you work with corpses... So, my workplace scaring you? That's something with a far bigger meaning than most people could say...

And I'm hoping the tai chi will let me relax a bit. I am trying, but not entirely succeeding, obviously. There is also the point of watching my friend focus on making herself move more gracefully (and doing well, too) - this, combined with the karate I do, seem to be leaving me more aware of how I move myself, able to be that touch more in control of what I do and how.

...and this left me thinking of how martial arts and dancing overlap - how are the classes going? Do you feel more certain of where you're putting your feet outside of classes now, as well as in?
