In the spirit of the engagement celebratory spirit that is still lingering here, this weekend question shall be about popping the question.

What do you think is/was/could have been the ideal way to propose to your significant other? Or if you were the one being proposed to, what do you think is/was/could have been the best way your significant other could have proposed? And please explain why you feel this way smiley1.gif

    • Alex's Proposal

Yesterday was a special day. My friends Carly and Alex got engaged!
Carly is on the far left:
      DSC00659.jpg
      Alex:
      DSC00660.jpg
We all went to the beach yesterday after we (about 10 of us) all got off work, played some volley ball, did everything as we normally would at the beach just to keep Carly from suspecting anything was different. So about 3 hours pass and we finally take a walk out onto the pier as we also usually do...
      The pier:
      DSC00880.jpg

We all walk all the way to the end, and that's when Alex leads Carly to the ledge where they sit down and dangle their legs over the side. The water was very calm, so they didn't have to worry about getting wet. A few minutes pass, and we all are gathered about 10 feet away leaning against the cement. Finally he gets down on one knee, pulls out the ring and asks her to marry him.....Even though none of us could hear what he was saying due to the wind, we all got teary eyed, smiling ear to ear. Carly's hand starts to shake as she puts the ring on and a tear streaks down her cheek.

It was at that moment the the woman sitting with her boyfriend a few feet away from them squeaks "Oh my god!" and starts clapping, soon everyone on the end of the pier was clapping (About 30 people) even if they really didn't know what was going on.

They hug, they kiss, and we all run over and give them a hug and congratulate them smiley1.gif .

I don't know if it could have been any more special and/or unique.

Afterwards we all went back to Carly's house where her mom had gotten a cake just for the occasion smiley0.gif .

    • Website Planning

I've been put in charge of designing a new look for our PC Consultants website. The current one is shit.....there is no nicer way to put it. I would provide a link to it, but I cannot remember what it's actually called, and we don't really use it at work. I had spent a few hours the previous week browsing for websites that offered similar services as we do to see if I could try an mimic their setup, but like ours most of their websites were also crap. So I expanded my search and found a handful of websites with elements I wanted to incorporate.

As a rough visualization I sketched out some ideas on paper just to see if I could get my boss' approval. And sure enough he green-lit the project so soon I will be creating a digital version of my sketches, and tweaking them as necessary. The idea was that simplicity works best, so I tried to come up with an uncluttered, and easy to navigate design. Nothing is written in stone, but I'm looking forward to seeing where I can take this anyway.

Here are the 2 sketches I did:

    • Artistic Mood......Taking Commissions

      Whedabra

I seem to be in an artistic mood these last couple of days. As an outlet I've found myself browsing deviantART for interesting pictures to draw. As I searched for photos, and found the ones I used for "Basia" and "Blow" I got to thinking......now would be a great time to ask for commissions. So if anyone has a good quality picture they would like me to attempt to turn into a drawing please let me know.

You may post the images here, or send them to me in a message. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.

Saturday among the many things I wound up doing, a couple friends and I went to a BBQ at another friends house out by the lake. Everyone sat around talking and eating. Severn and I were the only ones sitting at the table, and it was covered with books, folders, binders, and of course used plastic plates. There was also a large box of colored pencils.
It has been a long standing tradition that if there are crayons, markers, or colored pencils laying around as well as pictures that need coloring, then we should do the social activity of group coloring (this was big during large group-parties at Pizza Hut). So Sev started on a picture of a rose, which was the best picture of a the bunch, and I got stuck with one of the many pictures of Tinkerbell. I wound up spending about 2 hours coloring and Severn spent about 4 hour coloring (the time was broken up by a trip to Thunder Mountain where we climbed to the top and then went to the lake on the other side) and a few others joined in for smaller amounts of time (they colored other pictures of Tinkerbell). I'm an impatient shader, so my Tinkerbell didn't turn out that great, but Sev is very good at shading and his rose wound up looking extremely impressive!
So a few hours into our coloring extravaganza, when everyone started leaving, we began wondering why social coloring was such a big activity for our group of friends and families. Other than the fact that it's just downright fun, and that we've been doing it since 1st grade, we really didn't have a good answer. So my question to you is this:

What sort of unusual, or at least less common, group activities do you and your friends and family participate in? How often does said activity usually happen, and/or on what occasions? And what do you suppose is the origin of the activity?

    • Graduation Dunking

I'm sitting here at my new job (PC Consultants) keeping watch on the office today. Honestly it's kind of boring. All this week I've been searching for the appropriate drivers to this computer, built by one of our advanced tech guys, after re-installing the operating system. It's been hell really, I got all but one driver installed with minimal problems, I thought I simply downloaded the drivers for a similar, yet incorrect model number. So I double check the numbers again, and it turns out, the website doesn't even have drivers listed for the model I have......which doesn't make any sense.......So what drivers did I just install that have everything but one USB port working properly? So just for the hell of it I downloaded a similar driver package and now I have 2 missing drivers.......

But enough about that. My sister's girlfriend (Amber) recently had her graduation party, and that was a blast! I asked her if she was planning on doing anything stupid and/or memorable during the party.....and when she replied with a "no" I immediately began concocting a plan as I casually drank 3 cans of Coke. *devious grin* I rallied a few people together (whom I've never met before) and told them that I was planning on capturing Amber and tossing her into the pool smiley0.gif . Well it turns out my sister also liked this idea, but wanted to give Amber fair warning. So Amber changed her clothes and went about tending to her guests. Just to be nice I waited until most of the temporary guests were saying their goodbyes, then I struck! I chased her for maybe 15 feet before she gave up, I marched her over to the pool and dropped her in smiley0.gif .
Just to be supportive, my sister also let me drop her into the pool as well! Then about 15 minutes later everyone had changed into their bathing attire and we all swam for a few hours, eating cold pizza all the while. Now she'll have something to remember! After she climbed out I thanked her for being such a good sport and gave her a big hug (getting me nice and wet too), just in case she was harboring some hard feelings and just wasn't showing them.

I also made her a custom created graduation card, wrapped in black tissue paper and decorated with my evil, devious-grin, smiley. I figured she'd like it since she, my sister, and I all share similar tastes when it comes to art, decor, and clothing..... So I was very happy when she finally got around to opening the cards and gave me a really big smile and hug when she got to my card.

I would like to thank everyone who participated in The Weekend Question. Just for kicks and giggles I've decided to reveal the fates that you all chose.

PortalCore, Hozak, and Halomate all died when they flipped more than one switch and the gazebo exploded.

KiloG85, who flipped the red switch, opened up a path that lead underground into vermin infested tunnels and booby-traps. Even if he found the exit, chances of him contracting a deadly disease is very likely.

raptordocker, Jonixlord, feyd1, Biba, and Flamewolf, who all flipped the green switch, opened up an outdoor area of the labyrinth where the walls were covered in ferociously spine-covered vines with unusually beautiful flowers. Any who tried to climb the plants perished due to the toxins within the spines. This was also the fastest way through the labyrinth with the least amount of traps.

Nightdancer, Nudge1, Tomii, and XCalibur22, who all flipped the blue switch, opened up an area of labyrinth that looked identical to the previous part, with the exception that now there were swinging blades, pressure sensitive panels, and other nasty surprises along the way.

Also, on an unrelated note, PortalCore is having a small contest of sorts. Anyone interested in participating and possibly winning a few mod points should click HERE.

You wake up and find yourself in a labyrinth. The walls are impossible to climb, so your only option is to try and find your way out. As you search for an exit you come across a small gazebo and inside there are 3 switches. They are all identical in size and shape, but each one is a different color. From left tor right: the first is Red, the second is Green, and the third is Blue. A note located just above the switches warns you that each switch opens up a new area of labyrinth with new challenges, but you will only get to choose one switch. Out of the three, which switch would you choose, and would there be any reason why you would choose that particular one?

    • The Cut Has Been Made

I've hacked and slashed my way from having 100 friends in my list to only 40 now. If anyone has been removed by mistake please let me know and I'll send another friend request your way. Hopefully this will make RvB more enjoyable now; after all, isn't that what its about anyway smiley1.gif .

I still plan on continuing the weekend questions and modding every comment, so even if you've been cut from the list you can still get mod points for participating.

I had a great extended weekend, went out of town, went to the beach, played volleyball, Super Smash Brothers Melee, ate ice creme, and saw Pirates of the Carribean 3. I personally loved it, this one was much more character driven than #2, and it had lots happening most of the time, giving it great re-watchability value!

I find myself having less and less time for my online social life here recently. I now have 2 jobs on top of all of my other hobbies which I already didn't have enough time for......and it seem that every time I log on here I'm swamped with alerts. So I need to simplify things.

I'm going to clean out my friends list, as well as my watchlist. For those of you who would like to remain my friend and keep your position on my watchlist please leave a comment here saying so.

      Thanks,
      -T.3-

      Catching up with journal comments...

I have to admit that this morning I woke up and was dreading going to work, but now after reading this, I think I might be able to have a better day than I had originally thought possible

This is perhaps the single best thing anyone could have said. I'm feeling positive, and the idea that other people are too... Well, it's more than I could have hoped.

That said, I did read in your journal that you've not been feeling too well. So, I hope you feel back on top form soon.

Thanks for all that. You're right, there is nothing like it, and it does feel good. It probably helps incredibly that the sun is shining, which will always keep a good mood going.

Since that point, it's been a matter of keeping things going. And they've been going well, to the confusion of people around me who are used to me being fairly quiet and slightly depressed. Singing is not what they expect from me...
