I've been watching a lot of movies as of late. Horror, action, drama, etc. Lots of good films, such as Black Swan and Tron: Legacy. And then some real shitters, such as Suspect Zero. The Netflix free trial is something to be admired, a monster of time wasting... but is it really wasting time if you're viewing all these films and television series for a higher purpose - mainly, a career?

I don't know, and frankly I enjoy the filler of my time. I've been writing articles for horror magazine websites and the like, but I want to do more. I'm bored, and I want to write. Any suggestions? Perhaps I should start a blog? Something like my past journals on RvB, but bigger. Better.

      Hit me with your thoughts.

Missed you guys. Also, I'm mucho apologizado that I cleared all the alerts on here... too much reading. I'll make it up to you all soon though. I prommers <3

    • I Miss You Guys...

      Damn you, college!

Not much has really been happening...but here's the lowdown on the 949.

      - I went to NY for a few days last week and interviewed the editor of FANGORIA magazine. Details of the trip can be found here and here, in the article they asked me to write for their website.

      - I've been posting YouTube vids, and getting pretty good at it, if I may say so myself. Search around past journals to get links to THAT.

      - I quit track (since like...2 months ago) and have been running on my own, training for an upcoming 14 mile race. Woo-hoo!!!

      - Me and Mina will be celebrating our 4 years together on May 12. Yay.

      - I still work at a shitty pizza place...but a shitty pizza place with the BEST food ever. Yum!

      - I dropped out of my math class...more on that later. I hate math :[

      - I'm on skype now (MrSugarWater)...so add me.

      - I'm falling behind on watching horror movies :[ But I got a film review I wrote published in the school paper. Yay!

      - I watched the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre...did not like. I'm not a huge fan of annoying, fat wheelchair-bound retards. But I was glad when he died. Heh.

      - My birthday is coming upppp!!!!!!!!!1 and I'm looking forward to not being a teenager anymoarrrrrrrr.

      - I miss B3@$tial

      - I miss JediJesus too.

      - If I didn't say "I miss you", it's because I can still talk to you whenever I want <3

      - Me and Drebin insulted the shit out of each other before realizing we were insulting someone different than who we actually thought we'd been insulting.

      - I think I have a minor case of OCD or mania or something...

      - I'm currently reading the ENDER series. Highly recommended.

      - This site is no longer in the "golden years" and I miss those days.

That's about all I got going on and am currently thinking about. If you wanna sub me on YouTube, lemme know, I'd be more than happy to direct you. Other than that, sorry for the half-ass journal -- you guys all deserve a better friend -- and I'll talk to ya'll soon :)

    • Repo Men Review

      WhenIDie7

      It must be done!

RepoMen is about a future society in which us lovely citizens can replace a bad heart, a failing kidney, or a missing limb with artificial parts called 'Artiforgs' produced by a company called The Union. Like cars and gym memberships, the hosts of Artiforgs must make monthly payments until the cost of the artificial organ is covered. When one cannot cover the payments, a "technician specialist" is sent to the home of the recipient to retrieve what is rightfully the Union's. One of these Repo Men, Remy (Jude Law), finds himself in a debacle when an on-the-job accident forces him to host an artificial heart. When he isn't able to make the monthly payments, the Repo Men come looking for him.

An important point about the movie itself is that people are ripping it apart for not "being original" and stealing Repo! The Genetic Opera's ideas. First of all, the idea of "Repo Men" has been around since 1996 and actually did start out as a live musical production in theaters around that same time (Yes, because of DLB). In 2003, Repossession Mamba (the book that Repo Men was based off) author Eric Garcia set his book in motion to become a film by meeting with screenwriters. In 2007, Darren Lynn Bousman started filming for Repo! The Genetic Opera movie (released in 2008) and 2 years later we have Repo Men. Hardly a spur-of-the-moment-steal-fest. If anything, the studios are to blame.

That being said, I loved this film. I loved the violence (what're you doing on here if you don't like the violence?), the premise of the film, Jude Law, and the ending. If you've read my previous reviews (especially Law Abiding Citizen), you know I have a thing for great endings. Repo Men's ending just pisses you off - but for me, it was in a good way. Rar. I didn't have many problems with Repo Men except for a few inconsistencies. I thought the film portrayed our society heading exactly in the direction the film portrays (maybe not so bloody...or dead...) - with us starting to rely on artificial organs, as immortality constantly eludes us (i.e. We stop giving a damn about taking care of ourselves). Also, I have a deathly fear of gyms and car dealerships (hence, the above example), and I felt The Union was the PERFECT example of being bullied into something that you know is a really bad idea because you don't know the implications behind the decision that the car salesman is basically making FOR you ("Do it for your family....Do it for yourself").

Things I hated about this film are few and far between, but I'll elaborate. I'm not a huge fan of Forest Whitaker. I guess he played his character well enough, but a part of me thinks there were others who might have been a better choice. A HUGE problem I had with the film was the last 20 minutes (half of you just went "Oh come one! Not THIS again!")...however, the way the director ends the film kind of negates any illogical inconsistencies that one might hold (you know what I mean if you pay attention to the ending) - I thought this was a smart choice.. a little on the 'unfair' side, but a smart choice. The fight scenes weren't TOO impossible, and when they DID get ridiculous it's kinda explained why - you have to pay attention to the end (I wish I could go further into it, but I don't wanna spoil it for anyone).

I think this was a really fun movie. If you're kind of a hard ass when it comes to films, then I suggest renting or avoiding this film altogether. The film could've been done a tiny bit better, but I'm happy with it, as it is. Because I thought this film was mostly well-done, with great acting (For the most part - Liev Schreiber is 'eh') and some amazing visual eye-candy (great action scenes, especially the last fight scene), I give Repo Men a 3.5/5

**I'm switching to "-/5" because I hardly ever go below '5/10'. I wanna make it more fair**

I also played around with the effects toggle. Wanted to see how it'd look here and there. Let me know what you think, pleeeeeease. I don't want to keep doing effects if there's no point.

      Wow, 22:39 nice!

Unfortunately I will be going on co-op until next fall, so my training will be focusing on next cross season where I'm aiming to run the 8k consistently under 26 minutes.

Did you say your team does indoor track as well?

    • imapc2

It was meh, the highlight of the season was a time trial in the second week. I ran 15:35 for 4800m, over a minute and a half faster than what I did a year ago. However, my 8k success did not follow the exact same path of awesomeness. Beat my best time last year of 28:56 with a 27:34, nothing to be disappointed about just didn't live up to the standard the time trial set for me so early in the season.

And yourself? I remember you were making huge improvements early on, how did you end up?

hey a job is a job, be grateful you have one. are you getting to work a lot of hours or have your hours been cut back on b/c of how lovely cali is doing??

it is fulfilling... but it's super stressful... i'm trying all these holistic things to try and lower my stress levels... went to the dr a few weeks ago and my BP is pre-hypertension... i don't wanna die soon so i gotta figure something out... >_< and i actually just had to change my personal cell number b/c work invaded it - my supervisor texts, which is handy, but i'd get work calls on my vacations or when i was sick... no bueno. sooo idk haha

UCR is badass... i have friends that went there and absolutely loved it... and i don't know if you are into any sports, but apparently they have an AMAZINGGGG gym.

when it was time for me to do college, my parents said that i could go to a cc for two years and they would buy me a new car, or i could go to chapman... i chose chapman. i never regretted my decision to go there though... best years of my life so far. i really wanted to go straight to a university b/c i just didn't feel like all the people who go to a cc are serious about it... and i know myself well enough to know that i would have gotten caught up with the slacker bullshit, and i didn't want to set myself up for failure.. i knew if i surrounded myself with people who were serious at a university, then i'd be ok.

and now i'm looking into grad schools, and b/c i wanna go to UW, out of state tuition just might be the death of me... it's something silly like $32K if you are out of state and $5K if you are a resident of washington state. i'm torn on what to do.

and as for work killing me this week... friday night i had 3 crazy child abuse investigations.. apparently a mother socked her 14 yr old daughter in the face in the high school office in front of the staff, then i had to go speak with a 7 year old who disclosed that his father has been sexually abusing him for several years... called the sheriff's in on that one and waited for 3.5 hours for them to show up... it was 12:30am by the 3.5 hour mark and my supervisor told me to go home b/c i live about 40 minutes from work and was on my 16th hour in my work day... will find out tomorrow when they actually showed up at the house to interview the boy... so i never got to my 3rd call, which i ended up having to do saturday morning... the lady was freaking crazy and it took me about 2 hours to deescalate her anger... totally a blast, if you ask me~!
