We met in 2009, hung out in 2010, and corresponded numerous other times. It truly is sad to see you gone. Not sure what you were looking for, but I hope you found it. See you on the other side buddy.

So, after having seen all these projects on Kickstarter I thought about starting one of my own.

I only need about $1000 seed money, and I can pursue my lifelong dream.

The kicker is that there is no possible way I can offer incentives for high-level donors, or even mid-level donors at that.

For the record, my dream is to become an NHL Referee. The equipment I need to buy costs about $1000.

Good idea? Please comment. Thanks smiley1.gif

This is a copy/paste job of the email I recently sent my family, so if you find yourself confused, too bad smiley8.gif

I know you all are so eager to hear from me that I just couldn't go another minute without typing something up, so here I sit--words eluding me.

I think everyone's is more or less in the loop as of August, so that's where I'll start. Following the Moondogs' season, I found gainful employment through Masterson (temp agency) at National Vision manufacturing eyeglass lenses. It was simple, paid well, and I was the favourite temp in the department. After two very successful weeks, I asked my long-lost (as in friends for three years, haven't caught up in one) friend Ashley (also worked at NVI) for her new phone number, and was promptly reported to HR for harassment and stalking; this led to me being canned. Now, before you get too upset, I did everything short of a lawsuit to fight for my job. I'm still kind of riled up about it, but I have far more pressing issues to deal with, and my brain is a fragile object that shouldn't be subjected to such stress.

So that got me into the first week or so of October by the time I actually found out that I wasn't allowed to be hired there full-time. From here things get funky. By submitting a question to Wild.com and having it read during intermission on the AM waves, I won two free tickets to a pre-season game (Sept. 23). 13th row. Lower level. Overtime win. Excellent. Finding that I love Wild games, I decided to pull it off again the following week. Won again. Fifth row--moved to the glass by 3rd period. Got to bang on the glass during a fight. My life is complete.

Also in this time period, I was appointed to the Board of Directors for the St. Cloud Ballroom Dance Club. Yippee! The major significance is that I don't have to pay $5 every Saturday to learn how to dance, I get it for free--quite a bonus as I don't have any spare moneys AT ALL during the entire month of October.

So here I am, after losing a job for the second time in as many months, winning tickets to two games, fulfilling a lifelong dream (glass pounding), getting on the Board, and realising I have no money for bills all in the matter of two weeks. And I thought I had already been through an extreme emotional roller coaster!

Here's where the story gets sickeningly sad.

For three weeks, I call around to temp agencies, all of which have stunningly large amounts of work available. Somehow, I am unable to land any sort of work. Bills are beginning to pile up at an alarming rate, and plasma can only do so much. I get contacted by one agency saying that one of their clients is looking for "people who have worked at Grede" and that I should be a shoo-in for employment. Nothing. Finally I find one place that can get me an interview. The company: Dubow Textiles. Embroidery, screen printing, laser etching, etc. Basically the second-largest custom textile plant in North America, family owned and operated since its inception in St. Cloud in 1979.

Interview goes well, and I just completed my second week on the job, getting paid just in time to prevent eviction. The best part is that my boss is as big of a fanboy of the Wild as I am, and I am also the only other person there who likes hockey, so we get along almost freakishly well. My training is almost complete, and I figure now that I have sewing experience Anne and I will be able to have quite the conversation come Thanksgiving. I also get mad discounts on clothing items, so when Christmas lists are compiled make sure to include something along those lines. Heck, I'll probably even put your name on it.

My car was "broken into" (I don't bother locking it, no real valuables inside) last week, and a few contents went missing. Among the goods taken:
      --MP3 player, 4GB capacity, 4 years old, $20 in 2007.
--Earphones, no idea where they came from, starting to break down.
--Tape deck, $10 last year, now impossible to listen to anything but the radio (that's the most upsetting thing)
--Bag of BBQ Corn Nuts left in the glove box for a rainy day, I still don't even know who left them in my car.
--Pair of driving gloves destroyed by years of abuse. I still have my Isotoners :)

Oh well, now I have an excuse to get a music device that doesn't corrupt my files every other week (SOMEONE GET ME ONE FOR CHRISTMAS!)

In my free time, I have been playing furiously on NHL12. It's the only real solace I have other than Minesweeper and Solitaire (my rolling Vegas-style account is up $12,000--yes, twelve THOUSAND), so last Friday night when I arrived home I was severely distraught to find that my Xbox would not read discs. This was quite devastating, as I had all weekend with no money to do anything but sit around. After searching endlessly for simple fixes, it was determined that I was S.O.L. as the warranty was long gone and a replacement DVD drive cost $80. Fast-forward to Wednesday night. I get home from work and decide that I might as well crack this bad boy open and try to fix it. YouTube provided an excellent tutorial on how to get the case off, but from there I was on my own. I opened up the DVD drive and proceeded to jiggle the laser (I presumed it was stuck, judging by the grinding noise emitted when it spun a disc) along its rails. Failure. So I took some excess lube from the rails and re-lubed them, along with the gearbox for the laser. The noise stopped. Sensing something awesome on the horizon, I brought the console back to the living room. SUCCESS. I enjoy being curious sometimes. ^_^
