I have never really had heroes in my life, and looking up to anybody felt unnatural to me, we are all at the same playground, we are essentially presented with the same tools, and being able to accomplish many of my goals with ease, to me, someone better than me only meant a challenge.
However, Monty was different, oh, so different. I found myself trying to impress this person, creating a cosplay male version of Yang, one of his creations, making videos to get his attention, and even creating a Twitter account just to reach out to him.
I got the chance to talk to him at RTX 2013, he said my cosplay was the best he had ever seen, first male Yang, and again at RTX 2014, knowing his background working for video game companies i asked him if he ever thought of making a RWBY video game, he looked at me and very discretely said, "Shhhh", i was genuinely excited, a feeling i rarely experience.
His efficiency, his work ethic, creativity, how he kept to himself, and everything about him, i could relate to, and even as martial arts expert, a black belt in 3 different martial arts styles, and trained in 3 others, i found his fighting sequences so incredibly creative that no matter how much i wanted to be in par with his creativity, he was lightyears beyond my reach.
So whether i am writing my book, bringing your creations to life in cosplay or try to recreate your fighting sequences in videos i will be reaching out, not to the stars, no, they are too close, i will be reaching out to you Monty.
Thanks for the inspiration.
