Someone may read this so hey whats up? I made a new video it be awesome if you checked it out.

I been very inactive with making videos because of one reason: myself. You see I will get an idea and then I will get excited, but then I will start thinking more and more about it and then....thats it. I been having problems executing lately and last week driving home I had this idea and I decided to not think about it, but rather just do it. I didn't really plan anything except the joke at the end, I filmed and then I edited. I am happy with the piece and I want to know what everyone thinks. So hey if you wanna be nice and spread it that be great if not thats cool as well. Thanks for reading/watching.

So recently a band I enjoyed, Streetlight Manifesto, announce they would no longer be a full time touring band, but would continue to make music. This confirms the conversation a friend and I have had that live music is dying.

It is damn near impossible for bands to make any money touring full time unless they are already an established band from years ago or get on a big tour and still the money is not there. Kids are not going to shows anymore for a few reasons:

      1. No one host shows anymore. My co-workers use to be in bands and have told me the underground scene in New Jersey was huge. Every weekend you could find a show and for 5 dollars get to see 4 to 5 bands. Now these underground shows barely exist and if they do its normally 10 dollars to see 3 to 4 bands with the headliner normally getting all money and local bands getting nothing. Which leads me to my next point.

      2. Big bands will not give local bands slots at the big shows. These successful bands, who got successful because they got on big shows, do not allow local bands to play at a bigger venue. A VFW show is no problem, but normally thats 50 kids max instead of the 200-500 kids at a big show. If local bands want to grow they either have to get on the bigger shows to get more exposer or tour non stop which leads to.

      3. Local bands who constantly tour are putting themselves in a huge debt hole or barely breaking even. Bands have posted about how much debt they have amassed going out on tour. Thats paying to have merch made, cd's printed, renting a van and trailer, getting gas for the van, paying for repairs, hotel rooms (on good nights), and food. Theres more, but I think you get the point. Why do they do it? Well the hopes to make some money to make a living off it and to give fans an opportunity to see them live, but sadly this leads to my last point.

      4. Kids don't go because they have so many other things to do. Back in the 90's kids go to shows all the time, but now they don't because there is so much more to do. The internet is a thing and kids will spend their time on there listening to the music and maybe go see the band once a year.

I don't think the live scene will die anytime soon or ever for that matter, but bands and artist who want to make a living off music need to make a change. Constantly touring will not accomplish this. Go where everyone is: the internet. Post youtube videos, build up an audience, and build your audience that way. Kickstarter is a huge thing right now and I have seen a lot of bands going these to raise funds to make a new album. The best example I think was Big D and The Kids Table. They offered a lot of good rewards and promised the people two albums and they raised the funds and then some.

If for some reason more then 1 person reads this I am sorry if I offended you, but maybe I'm wrong. Thanks.

Hey everyone or no one who reads this,

If you know me you know I like to make videos. Way back in the day I did a web series called "Me And My Red Vs. Blue T-Shirt". The concept was basic, I shot it on my parents Canon powershot and edited parts 1 to 4 including trailers and commentaries on Windows Movie Maker and part 5 was edited with Adobe Premiere 2.0.

Once that was done I started with the help of others 5 Awesome RvBers and it saw minimal success. I look at it as just a way for me to garnish up some kind of attention and be someone. Basically I wanted to be internet famous. The biggest thing I gained from it was good friends who I still follow and talk to this day. Looking back at it I was a jerk and was very immature. Which leads me to the point of this journal.

In 2012 I flat out stop making videos. From January to June I did nothing, I thought about making videos, hell I even was working on one at the time, but it never happen. I can blame it on the fact I was dumped by my girlfriend, which led to me slacking off at work, which led to me almost being fired, but the person to blame is myself. Luckily I have moved on from that and am in a much better place.

The turning point for me came in mid July when I went to see my old band perform at their cd release party. I had a camera from work because the next day I was going to shoot for a client, but my friend asked me if I could film them as well. I agreed to and had a blast filming so much that after I offloaded the footage from the client I sat down and edited together the footage which became this. The reaction was great and I had a spark in me once again. In September I made 2 videos that were completely out of my comfort zone. The first was one I relased for my 24th birthday that I called 23 to 24 I experimented with green screen/ clip manipulation and doing a more "serious" type video and overall I was happy I took my whole year of everything I cared about and showed it off in 24 seconds. The second was footage I shot over a 5 day period where I went from Vermont to Florida on two seperate trips. I decided to ask my friend to compose some music and was blown away with what he gave me. This was 5 second travel and it was another "serious" video. It showed me I can get outside help to make my videos better.

Finally I wrapped up my year by doing another music video for my old band www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aIAgztkKsE] which turned out great

2012 was a year of growing up. I learned to grow from a broken heart. I learned to grow with my back against the wall. I became a much better filmmaker and I became a much better man. All of this led to Christmas morning when I got this:

      Canon_EOS_Rebel_T3_478187.jpg

I basically know now that 2012 was a good year, but 2013 is going to be a year I will remember for the rest of my life. If you have ever watched any of my videos I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I make these stupid things to entertain myself and just prove to myself I can do something. To know someone else likes it gives me more confidence and makes me smile. So thank you.

tl;dr. 2012 was ok. 2013 is gonna rock.

Currently I am working on an idea, an idea that may work out or fail like many other ideas I have had in the past. I am doing my research with this and am making a push, but seeds of doubt still fill my head. There is so much I want to do and I haven't done anything in the 2 years I have graduated college. Yes I have a full time job doing what I love, but in my personal career I am not satisfied. It can be frustrating. So this idea maybe will not amount to anything, but I need to do it just to prove to myself that I can see an idea through. That it actually becomes a reality and not just another idea floating in space. If I can do it once I can do it again. Thanks for reading

Greeting to whoever is reading this,
A while back I made a music video for the band I use to be in you can check it out here It was just a random thing I did, but it was a lot of fun to shoot something and edit it the next day and have it online for the masses to see.

I am writing this journal because I want to keep making music videos. So I am looking for bands and solo artists who would like a music video done for them for free. I vow to make the most awesome looking video ever. So if this applies to you or you know someone who this could apply to have them hit me up. Also tell me how you been.

Insofar as a Title Town exists, it's gotta go to Boston. I suppose we could buy the Rays, move them to North Jersey so that fans will actually come out to games, and make them contenders.

There was a FAQ on the the site that had this to say that I think you might find interesting:

What network would show this? SyFy? Science? Who said anything about being on TV? Not sure it’s relevant, but when content is made, bids can be taken from various networks.

Man, Eddie, I'd really love to make RT Philly, but chances right now are slim to none. I'm trying to save money for an apartment, and a plane ticket to see you cats (tempting though it may be) means dipping into my savings, AND taking more time off from work, meaning even less dough. As of now I'm going to have to say unfortunately not. :(

    • TravieYak

Yeah, Jack is four years older than me; if you can believe it! As the new Theme of the Week, I'm sure he'll be yelling at all us kids to get off his lawn, or something.

As for RTMN, yeah dude, can't wait! The more the merrier. Actually, speaking of Jack and RTMN, we've been talking about having an RTMN Live! event at RT Philly. Perhaps making use of the theater/projector that will be on hand... if so, not sure what movie yet, though... you'll just have to be there to find out!

Which I know you will be, which is good, so we'll totally need to make a video together! No doubt.

Yeah, the RPG. I still want to continue it, and I hope I can get more people involved in it, but right now it's a bit of a back burner project. I just didn't like the fact that it was inside the "Beards and Jackets" group when, for all intent and purposes, that group is dead. So, I made a separate group specifically for the RPG. It's closed at the moment, but don't worry as there's no activity going on right now. I'll probably make a journal about it soon enough.
