    • Halo 3 review.

After playing Halo 3 for several weeks I thought I had given it enough play time to finally review it. I will break the review up into several sections and then give it final score. So here goes nothing.

Single player- Sadly the game is short, only about 9 levels. 2 of these levels will probably take the average player 1 hour to beat and t he rest will take from 20 to 40 min. But the game, while it lasts, is one of the best FPS shooter experinces I've had. Except for the 2nd and 8th level the map design is incredible. These two levels aren't even bad, its just very easy to get lost for couple of minutes in them.

The scale of the battles are incredible. While in the past game you might get a handful of marines to fight with now you can get dozens. The enemies also come in large numbers with an array of species, weapons, and veichles. The enemy displays pretty good intelligence and will use grenades, equipment, cover, and all sorts of weapons to bring you down. And the scarab fights are epic. Then when the flood come in, they come in droves. This game is the most fun I've ever had fighting the flood, except for the overpowered flood turrets.

It is worth noting that the game peaks at the 6th and 7th level. These are by far in my opinion the best levels Halo has ever seen. By comparision the 8th and final level feel a bit disappointing even the final level is still pretty good. Even though this game is short it has strong replay value as I have already replayed through 3 times. Co-op is also better than ever with with up to 4 players. The downside is that the game becomes too easy on even the harder difficulties. Story

I auctually find Halo to have a pretty engrossing shooter story for a FPS, plus I love epic space operas. The beginning of the game is a little light on the story. You are pretty much given a mission to accomplish over the next few levels and little more story is given. But a third of the way in the story picks up as you and the covenant loyalists face each other in one last stand.

After that however the story is good but seems to rushed and leaves too few things unexplained. the ending would have been more satisfying of some sort of secret was revealed or you had a more conclusive final battle with the flood. Its also notable that if you want to find out more about the flood-forerunner war check out the terminals.

      Multiplayer

This game definitly has the strongest multiplayer of the series. There are alot of customibilty options and forge mode opens up a lot of potential for creative user content. The formula isn't changed but it is refined. The equipment, new weapons (most of them) and other features come into play and expand on what Halo 2 did well. The action is fast pace and a blast. But instead of talking about all they did right, I want to point out a few flaws, that Bungie could still fix in post release updates.

-No custom game search (Can't believe it doesn't have this.)
-No Forge, infection, juggarnaught in matchmaking (wouldn't mind if the above option was avaliable.)
-Besides Sandtrap there is rarely any of the epic veichle combat that I always enjoyed in Halo 2. Come on new large maps. (Forge mode helps though,)
-Several weapons are not avaliable outside of forge, such as incedenary grenades, and the fuel rod gun. Also the sword is in too few maps.

If these were fixed I'd have almost no complaints about the multiplayer whatsever.

Theater mode is also an awsome and fun feature and it is always great to save that awesome film clip or sweet screenshot.

      Graphics

A mixed bag. Gears of War definitly looks better, but then again it also rendered much smaller areas and battles. There is alot of action on screen and the framerate is always consistant. Most of the stuff is next gen except for the human cut-scene character models which looks like something out of Timesplitters. But the enviorments, weapons, and veichles look great. Sound

Amazing. The musical score is among the best in the gaming industry and the sound effect are excellent.

Final Score Despite its weakness its strengths and multitude of features more than make up for it.

    • Best of Halo 3

Coolest Single player level: The Covenant

      Coolest Multiplayer map: Sandtrap

      Coolest new weapon: Spiker

Coolest weapon thats never used: Incendinary grenade (Argh)

Coolest New veichle: Chopper. (If you don't agree you haven't splattered a fully loaded warthog with it)

      Coolest Equipment: Bubble shield

Coolest new feature: Forge (If you don't like the map, change it.)

Coolest Armor type: Elite (Wort Wort Wort)

Coolest Character: The Arbiter (Spoiler: Just watch the scene where he finishes Truth)

Coolest line: "The Brute ships outnumber us 3 to 1." "Then its an even fight."

      Most disappointing of Halo 3

Most disappointing level: Floodgate. (Only 12 minutes long. The cutscene afterwards is longer than the level itself.)

Most disappointing multiplayer map: Epitah. (I just don't have fun on it)

Most disappointing new weapon: Flamethrower. (It could have been awesome)

Most disappointing veichle: Mongoose (Its on nearly every map pushing out better qualified veichles, only useful in a Assualt or CTF)

Most disappointing equipment: Tripmine (It just can't kill things and its so rare)

Most disappointing armor type: Spartan (Because out of 2 Elites are just awsomer)

Most disappointing character: Gravemind (You should have been able to see it and better development)

Worst quote: Anytime it sounds like Master Chief is coming onto to Cortona

If you have Live I highly reccomend downloading the MoH: Airborne demo. The game was pretty low on my radar but now its peeked my interest.

Robot Chicken is doing a Star Wars special in two weeks. So far it looks hilarious. The best line so far.

"Your tounge can't repel flavor of this magnitude."
      -Admiral Ackbar

Chances are if you aren't a fan the humour of that line will be lost. But if you are a Star Wars fan this is going to can't miss show. Its also twice as long as the average episode.

Family Guy is also doing an hour or so long Star Wars special. From what I saw with the preview they auctually follow the movie with family guy characters and humor. I don't like family guy as much as some of the other shows out there but I thought this material was pretty hilarious. Again it probably has more to do with me being a Star Wars fan boy.

Also I downloaded Starfox 64 on the Wii virtual console. If you have a Wii I reccomend picking up this classic game.

    • Spider-Man 3

I walked into this movie with low expectations. A week ago I was really looking foward to this movie. But then it was pummeled by medicore reveiws and a lot of people seemed disappointed. I stil lwatched it yesterday and was surprised and I was surpirised. This was my favorite comic book movie ever.

It was incredebly ambitious, had some good themes and good plot ideas, had very cool villans, and was willing to involve many intertwining stories. I really liked the black spiderman suit and thought it was an interesting concept and it usually works well. Sandman was awesome. I always thought Spider-man2 was overrated and so was Doc. Oc. Al the critics praised these as the pinnacle of the comic tbook genere. But Spiderman-2 moved way too slowly at times, lacked real ambition, and I though Doc Oc was inferior to Sandman. However that said this movie is one of the most flawed movies I've ever seen.

The largest flaw is that it was only 2hours. There is no way this was supposed to be a two hour movie with all of the plot lines and characters in the movie. With everything going on the movie should have been at least another 45 minutes if not a whole hour longer. The reason they probably did this is because two hour movies are considered more "marketable." But Lord of the Rings did really well and they had less mass appeal and were three hours long. This alone would have made this one of my top movies of all time.

      Review: 8.8/10

Here are some of the other faults/things I would have changed. Warning: Spoiler alert

1.) Venom was really cool but under developed and underused. Also I wish Brock had a bit more turmoil to make his hatred feel more powerful. This could have ben solved by using the extra time I suggested.
2.)Flint/Sandman should have visited his daughter before the final battle. A good way to make the chartacter face his concious.
3.) Gwen should have been used a bit more. Show her split with Brock and it should have been an angry split involving both Peter PArker and Spiderman ad the reason behind their split.
4.)Black suited spiderman should have been a tab more more vicous and had more scenes.
5.) I was fine by how Peter Parker acted while under the influnce of the black suit. But WTF was up with the Emo Flip and and the gratuiotous dance scenes. WTF
6.) There should have been been more internal conflicts with the suits.
7.) Sandman's defeat in the final bettle wasn't belivable. He got hit by misseles and thats it. There was a water tower right behind Harry in the Final Battle and it could have been used.
8.) Spiderman and Venom should have had a brief fight in the church right after Venom was created. And venom should have also caused some random havoc in the in the city.
9.) At time Mary-Jane almost seemed to whiney. I'm fine with the character just tone down the crazy/irrational women bit down.

    • Game reccomend

I was looking for a new game to buy for my Wii. Metroid Prime and Super Smash Bros. are still ways away. The only Wii games I have is Twiilight Princess, Red Steel, and of course Wii sports. Tillight Princess is awesome but Red Steel is a huge disappointment. And Wii sports is Wii sports. So after looking over some reviews I tried the Godfather for the Wii.

Surprisingly I havenever seen the Godfather movies yet, but I feel like I should. Normally
I wouldn't be drawn to a license game that feeds of of GTA but I wanted a solid mature game for the Wii and Red Steel let me down. This game however is auctually really fun.

I have only played it for about 5 hours so I can't quite review it but I do have some first impressions. Its pretty much GTA with a 40's mob twist. You can do things like antogonize bussinesses, set up rakets, and whack enemy famillies' mobs soldiers. One of the most impressive things is how the wii is used. The aiming is auctually made better with the Wii controller, something Red Steel couldn't do. But the coolest thing is how you can use it in fist fights. You punch, throw, grapple, kick, neck snap, and even strangle the opponent with the Controller motions. This aucutally comes off felling intuitive and very fun. You can also do special execution moves that also feel surprisinly inuitive. However I wish the Wii's capabilities were also used in the driving controlls, which would have really kicked ass.

      Us. Jon, Pat, Me
      n1225080161_30109114_66.jpg

We were playing frisbee golf , the standard college pass time. It was a windy day and we were on the first hole. My frisbee flew true and straight down the hole. then my first friend, Pat, throws a Rhino frisbee. Goes right on the roof of the dorm. Second friend, Jon ,goes up, his frisbee lands right next to Pat's. This is the first time we have ever got a frisbee stuck and this seemed like a unlikely phenomeon. We were however dedicated to getting it down.

First Jon tried to climb a tree. Impossible. Our next attempt was to take a stick to Pat's window to get it down. Didn't work
      n1225080161_30109117_817.jpg

Then being the honors college students we were we decided to build a giant stick with duck tape. Here is our stick.
      n1225080161_30109120_1627.jpg

We took this 40 foot stick to the front of the building and began our work. No one believed in us. At first even I was certain our mega stick would snap. But lo and behold it survived at reached the roof. Everyone who passed by gave us odd looks but we went about our work. We even conscripted a volleyball to aid in its task
      n1225080161_30109123_2439.jpg

The problem was that the Frisbee was stuck behind two peg layers on the roof, which made this significantly harder. We had to work these frisbees through those pegs. We worked for 40 minutes, we were about to give up, but every small movement gave us hope. Then at last we got the frisbee in the roof gutter. Then it got intense. Then a lucky Volleyball hit we knocked it down.

      The liberated frisbee.
      n1225080161_30109131_4596.jpg

We gave up on the second one. It was too flat. Still this was a mighty victory indeed. That night we celebrated by feasting in a Taco Bell parking lot at midnight.

The Saint Achievement is hard, but not impossible. The best way to get it is to not get the best ending. If you get the best ending, you'll have to save everyone you possibly can and complete Overtime Mode.
If you get another ending, you can save a few people that would normally die, and you don't have to save everyone of the survivors.

If you want some advice, ask and I'll try and help you out.

Dead Rising...do the research, I think it has lowered in value.

I would say get Okami, but that is for the PS2. It is a great game.
FEAR had a great single player. And Crackdown is very fun, but alittle short (rent).

    • Rei_Smite

Dead Rising, I love. It gets alittle repetitive, but that is when you put it down and wait awhile. Then you can jump right back in.

GRAW single player was great in my opinion, but Multiplayer is where the game flourishes.

Question: Do you like Naruto and/or Bleach?

Sorry, but I dissagree. The Kar is not always a one-hit kill like it should be. And every once in awhile, the M1 Grand gets a one-hit kill. It is kind of Bullshit.
Truefully, I liked the game types, but the game is just too one sided when it comes to the weapons (and sometimes spawning locations) in my opinion...I hope they fix that with an update.
