      Fix this poem. 40 mods if you do it with these hints: This poem is pretty famous, or at least the author is. There is no comma, semicolon, period, or exclamation point that is incorrect, neither are words spelt wrong, but some words are different than the ones you see. For example, the color used in the first line is not green. The original poem and this modified one have the same meaning, they just look different.

      WHAT IS WRONG: 8 words are changed, 2 were removed, every stanza has an incorrect number of lines, some words were placed on different lines, and some words that should be uppercase are lowercased.

      Two paths diverged in a green wood,
      And sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler,
      long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the wood;

      Then took the other, as just as fine,
      And having perhaps the better call,
      Because it was grassy and wanted tear;
      Though as for that the passing there had worn them really about the same,

      And both that evening equally lay in leaves no step had trodden black.
      Oh, I kept the first for another day!
      Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
      I doubted if I should ever come back.

      I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages hence:
      Two roads diverged in a forest,
      and Iâ€" I took the one less traveled by,
      And that has made all the change.

      Machine Politics
      The industrial boom of the late 1800's and early 1900's led to major economic expansion in cities and towns across the country. But it also led to a increase in government corruption and crime. A company that is buying for the rights to build a town building or city roadway, for example, would bribe, or give “graftsâ€Â, to government officials to make sure their company is the one who does the job and gets paid. Since grafts became daily business in city and state politics, a job as an important government official was very profitable. In order to get these important jobs, politician would use “political machines†in order to get the victory on election day. These machines would consist of machine bosses that has connections in every part in a major city, and they would be able to use their influence to get voters to vote for their candidates. While these practices did encourage corruption in city and state governments, it also created some good for the lower class living in urban life.
      A political machine would be run by a machine boss who would represent a candidate, who would use a system of legal and non-legal ways to get votes for their candidates. The bosses would mostly target immigrants; the bosses would gain their trust and loyalty from them by placing paved roads, good water lines, etc. to the immigrant and poor communities. They would also help immigrants find jobs, and some would supply the poor with food and clothing free of charge. The bosses would also do inside favors for non-immigrant citizens in order to gain their trust. In return for all these services, the bosses would ask for votes on election day for the candidate(s) he is representing. Along with these methods, the political machines would also use bribes, repeat voters, and phantom voters in order to ensure a victory on election day. These machines would be very effective in town and city elections, where grafts for city projects would usually be given.
      This system of political machines did provide some positive outcomes in cities. It provided services for immigrants, both basic needs and extra luxuries. This was especially important at a time when the government gave extremely little aid to those in need. Some machine bosses, like Edward J. Kelly, the Democratic political boss of Chicago from 1933-1947, had a strong stand for unsegregated schools and support for African Americans in cities, which proved to help him when the black population in cities rose dramatically. Both Kelly and his predecessor, Anton Cermak, favored a broad spectrum of ethnic groups by placing people of many different nationalities in leadership positions, which did help in the process of acceptance of different ethnic groups.
      But with these few positives also came many negatives. Those who won offices used their powers to protect pimps, gamblers, and liquor salesmen who would give them the most money in order to continue their businesses. These machines disregarded laws and used illegal practices in order to win, and continued a series of crime and government corruption that was running ramped during the time period. An estimated 75 to 200 million dollars were stolen from the New York City Treasury between 1865-71 by these bosses, who ruled from Tammany Hall. They would use the money from treasuries and grafts in order to increase their own status in society.

      This is my history essay. I'm going to finish it when I have 3rd peroid free in school. You can look it over if you want to, but it doesn't matter. I haven't done my conclusion paragraph yet.

      Here's the question: Do you agree that the Civil War was fought for primarily economic reasons and not to abolish slavery? In other words, did the nation go to war to preserve the north's economic dominance? Did the South fight the war to preserve the "plesent and prosperous" way of life of the elite citizens of the Confederacy? Was there any moral reason for fighting this was?

      The Civil War

      If the average person were asked why the American Civil War was fought, they would probably answer because of slavery. Most people who are educated in this time in history would respond that it was fought to preserve the Union and to stop the southern states from seceding. Some people disagree with either of those answers. Howard Zinn, in his book A People’s History of the United States, says that the Civil War was fought to protect the North’s economic dominance over the South. Zinn states that “The northern elite wanted economic expansion- free land, free labor, a free market, a high protective tariff for manufactures , a bank of the United States.†He also states the reason the Southerners fought was to preserve their economically prosperous way of life. Zinn is incorrect in saying that the Civil War was fought for primarily economic reasons.

      The nation did not go to war to preserve the north’s economic dominance. Their main reason was to preserve the Union and to stop the South from seceding and forming their own nation. All the other reasons, economic dominance, slavery, economic expansion, were, at most, secondary reasons that would be fulfilled if the Union won the war and stayed together. If the northern elite fought the war for their own economic reasons, they would not have taken such a drastic step as to support the abolition of slavery. Doing so would hurt them because their source of cheap raw materials from the south, which was cheap because of the free labor from slaves, would be gone. The North had to fight this war if they wanted to seem like a powerful force in the world, and to not look like a piece of land that could easily be broken apart. So, if anything, the North fought the war to maintain political dominance over the South.

      Even though most people do not agree that the war was fought for economic reasons, they do agree that the South fought to preserve their way of life. The idea of the South was to stop the power of the North from taking them over, whether it was a political dominance, an economic dominance, or the abolition of slavery. Stopping an economic dominance of the North would keep trade of raw materials, mainly cotton, a fair trade between the South and the North, and the South would still be able to profit from trades between themselves and Great Britain. Any type of political dominance of the Union over the Confederate would mean that the Union would still be in power over the Confederacy, which the South would not allow. Also, Democrats were fighting in United States Congress to try to get laws and treaties passed to help the Confederacy, but with the dominance of the Republicans in both the House and the Senate, this was a difficult task. The South would also want to stop the abolition of slavery, which is what mainly differentiated life between the North and the South. This was the South’s basis of their “slogan†of how they wanted to “preserve their way of lifeâ€Â. Also, the abolition of slavery would hurt the South economically, which is probably how Zinn gets his argument of how the northern elites fought to keep economic dominance.

      Even though all these reasons of why the South wanted to fight a war can stand true, as stated before, the main reason of the north was to preserve political dominance and to preserve the union. One moved that helped this cause was the abolition of slavery, which would definitely fit into the Republican and Union plan to help win the war. For that reason, there was no moral reason for fighting this war. During the war before the Emancipation Proclamation, slaves were taken by Union soldiers from Confederates because they were an abduction of property, which could be easily argued by Northerners as A’ ok* because the Southerners kept arguing during the 1850's that since slaves were property, they were allowed to take them into the territories. So during a time of war, since slaves are property, they are allowed to be taken by Union soldiers, in doing so hurting the Confederate cause. Later in the war, President Lincoln, who before said that he was not going to bother trying to abolish slavery where it is already established, issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which was a brilliant political move on his part. Issuing this statement made it seem that the South was fighting to protect slavery, and no foreign power who abolished slavery (like Britain and France) was ever going to help the Confederacy.

      Eh, it's just a game. If you want, you can message him nicely, tell him that both Pixie and RoadBlock looked at the game and didn't have any objections (this was 20-30 minutes after it was made) and that it should be unlocked, or at least be re-created. DiMono says in the Forum Games Rules that any Forum Game can be allowed to live without discrimination, so you can bring that point up as well.

      It was fun, though.
