I'm starting to suck at the whole update thing. But since I'm pretty lame by sitting here at home on a Saturday night, I figured now was a good time. Not too much to say though. School is going okay. It's getting really boring actually and unfortunately I think it's going to stay that way until next year when I get more into my core classes. I registered for next semester and I'm taking almost all general ed. requirements; Great Books I, Basic Math Concepts II, Fundamentals of English Grammar, The Art of Theater, and Characteristics of Students with Mild/Moderate Intervention Needs. The last one is probably the only one I will enjoy. I'll have classes from 12:30-6:45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and then Monday from 4:25-7:05. So as far as time, I did fairly well. No early mornings! At least not because of classes.

Work is...ugh. I guess I like it a little bit more than when I started. And by like, I mean that I'm tolerating it a little bit better. I just have to keep reminding myself that the pay is good. lol. But, I found out that the newly built YMCA in my area will be opening in a month and they're accepting childcare applications. So I'm going to email my resume in and see what happens. Since I worked at a camp that they started, I might have a good chance. The pay won't be as good as Lowes, but I think I'd like it a lot more. It's also closer to my house and I'd be able to use the facility either for a big discount or for free from what I've heard.

Thursday morning I had to take the reading part of the Praxis I test. For those who don't know, the Praxis test is for people aspiring to be teachers. There's the Praxis I and II and it's practically like the ACT. The only reason I had to take the reading part of part one was because I didn't do well enough on the reading part of the ACT. You needed a 26 and I got a 25. The test was on a computer and so luckily I got the score right away and I ended up getting a good enough score. So yay for that.

I got to see Streetlight Manifesto in concert again on Thursday night and it was pretty kickass. It ended up being in Pittsburgh, which made me realized that I don't like Pennsylvania. lol. It was really hilly and scary and confusing. But that didn't matter because of the awesomeness of the concert. What added to the awesomeness was having Ben there. He kinda surprised me by showing up the night before. But anyways, the whole atmosphere was really good, they had air-conditioning going, and you actually kinda had some room to breathe. The bad part was all of the people smoking. Seriously it seemed like everyone around us was lighting up. It pisses me off that people think that they look cool because they smoke. Not really. You look like dumbasses who are going to most likely get cancer and die a slow painful death. But hey, I guess that's their choice.

And now I've run out of things to say. Soooo, good night all.

A few things have happened in the past few weeks. Some good, some not so good.

About a week or two ago I was driving a friend and myself to school when I ended up blowing a tire. Some advice from me to all of you: Don't try to pass a car on the right while they're waiting to turn, especially if you're going about 40mph and there's a curb in the way....Yeah, I felt like a dumbass after it happened. lol. My grandpa had to come pick us up and take us. Oh well though, I needed new tires anyway. lol

That same day I decided to donate blood at the blood drive they were having at my school. Normally I'm ok when I give it. Well for some reason I did not have a good time at all. First of all, they had me sit in a chair from which they would take blood from my left arm. Last time I had blood taken from my left arm, they missed and tried to fix it for ten minutes before giving up. I should've known. I should've said something. Oh no, I thought 'Eeeeeh, I'll be fiiiine'. Wrong. They missed also. But they were fortunately able to fix it though. I just felt like crap afterwards. They also gave me expired juice. Actually, it wasn't even juice, it was Hi C. Wtf is up with that.

This past weekend (Saturday-Sunday) I spent in Columbus with Ben. It was really nice getting to spend the night with him even though the place we stayed at was having two huge gatherings which made the place packed and made the hotel really behind with things like check-in. Also, someone decided to set the fire alarm off in the morning. It was soooo loud and you couldn't escape it. I knew there was no fire, but we started packing up anyway and by the time we were ready, they turned the alarms off. What made things even more sucky about leaving was the fact that I had to drive for two hours and go straight to work.

Last week I had an interview at this daycare/learning center for a part-time position. She said I'll know by the end of next week whether I got it. I honestly doubt that I will because she said something about having already done 30 interviews and how they don't have that many positions open. I figure they probably have 5 or 6. And I'm pretty sure they'll take someone with a degree over me. That's not really fair in my opinion because I have a lot of personal experience. Oh well though, we'll see.

Monday I was using the computer at school to check my email when I saw something from Verizon saying that the new bill was due. Normally it's around $80. Guess how much it was this time? $290. I almost pissed myself. How in the hell did it get that high? I looked on my account at all the details and the only things I noticed was that it sometimes decides to make my calls roaming. Also there was a time or two where I wasn't thinking and called Ben's house phone for an extended period of time. Normally my dad pays the bill, but I knew he was going to flip so I payed for it online.

After finding out about the lovely phone bill, I came home and found a letter from Gap Inc's HR office. I opened it up and basically it told me that two of their laptops that hold applicant's information was stolen and that basically they could have access to my personal information, including my social security number. This means I have the potential to have my identity stolen. Lovely. At least it's not just me though. I looked it up online and apparently there's a total of 800,000 people's applicant information on those computers. So we'll see how that goes.

As some of you know, I recently got a job at Lowes Home Improvement. I've been there for about a week and it's had its ups and downs. Basically, if I really didn't need the money, I wouldn't be there. Also, after this I don't think I'll ever get another job in retail. Some people are just so ridiculous and frustrating. Plus I'm not always doing something. You just stand there a lot. I would rather have a job where I'm constantly doing something and having no time to think about anything else rather than a job where I stand around for eight hours on a hard concrete floor and maybe have a customer or two to wait on every once in a while. Normally I don't even have any coworkers around to talk to either. They stuck me on self check-out yesterday for about 5 hours and I wanted to shoot myself. Personally I think self-checkout is more trouble than it's worth sometimes. The ones at Lowes are really sensitive and if the customer does anything wrong, even if that involves moving a bag around, the machine will lock up until an employee fixes it. Oh well. It pays decently and I'm going to make myself stick with it until at least December, unless something a lot more interesting or better paying comes along.

I found out last night that the Trans-Siberian orchestra is coming near me in December so today I got tickets to that for Ben and I. They were pretty pricey, but it should definitely be worth it.

School has been alright so far. I haven't really had much to do yet. It does seem a lot easier than Miami though. lol.

Hope all is well with everyone!

      Summarized:
It's been quite a while since I've bothered to update this thing. Sorry about that. I guess I've been somewhat busy. Since the last update my job at the camp ended, I got classes scheduled at my new school, I got to spend two weeks with Ben, and I've put in some job applications.

      Detailed:
The job at the camp I was at was an amazing experience. I was having doubts earlier this summer about whether or not I could handle being a special education teacher, but this really opened my eyes. The staff I worked with was alright (some moreso than others), and the campers were awesome. No matter how stressful a day was, I still wanted to go back. And I bet you wouldn't believe it, but I met some of the smartest people at camp. Some of the campers knew so much about certain things that it blew my mind. Anything ranging from the Civil War to tornados or penguins. And these are kids ranging from ages 6-17. There was a little 7 year old girl there (frickin adorable) who asked everyones name once and remembered them all without having to ask again. And she wasn't even there every week and that's a total of about 30 names. Not even I could do that. lol

I think things will really turn up for me at the new school I'm going to. I went to have an advising meeting and to get my books and I felt like I fit in more. Plus it's pretty cheap but is a good school for education. This year most of the classes I'll be taking can be taken at one of the regional campuses, but next year I'll have to go to the main one. Oh, one thing that pissed me off was the fact that their payment system is pretty screwed up. While I was at Ben's, I got on my school account to check something. When I get there, m classes weren't showing up. So I called and was transferred a few times and they told me that they dropped them because I didn't pay for them. Get this, I signed up for the classes TEN DAYS before they ended up dropping them. They gave me TEN DAYS to pay for it. Ridiculous. What it was is that you have to pay for your classes at the end of whatever month you register them in. So I signed up (not knowing of their payment deal) on June 30th, meaning that on June 31st, my payment was due. I was so pissed though. Thankfully I got back into all of them.

I got to spend about two weeks with Ben recently and that was pretty sweet. First he came up here for a bit, then we went down to his house, then we went to his grandparents house for a few days for their family reunion, then we went back to his house for a few days, then we came back up here and he stayed a few days. We traveled a lot. lol. I liked spending time at his house like I had been during the school year. All of the family I met was really nice also. When we came back to my town, we went to a concert where Streetlight Manifesto, Reel Big Fish, and Less Than Jake were playing. I love Streetlight, but I didn't think that it was their best performance. It was really hard to hear any of what they were saying, but that could've been because we were down in the pit. I know most of the lyrics anyway so it wasn't that big of a deal. RBF played some of their new stuff so that was cool. I wasn't such a fan of Less Than Jake though. I don't know hardly any of their songs and they were another one where you couldnt hear a word they were saying (and we werent in the pit that time). It was decent overall. Ben left on Sunday but it seems like it's been a lot longer smiley2.gif .

I had an interview at Lowes Home Improvement a few days ago. My friend says they really need cashiers since everyone is leaving for school. So far I haven't heard anything back so I'm starting to give up hope. I won't be too upset if I don't get the job. I'll be more pissed that I had to drive out there twice in one day for three separate interviews, and that the first time I drove out there the weather was terrible. I had to drive through the biggest puddles I've ever seen on the road while rain was pouring down. Of course we had a lot of flooding on the one day I needed to be able to get somewhere. I just want to know whether I got the job or not so I can make a dentist appointment and eye doctor appointment since I haven't had those in a while.

Hope everyone else has been doing well this past however long it's been.

I really wish that I felt like updating more often because then I would have a lot more on here. And lately, I actually have had stuff to talk about. A summary of the past two weeks or so would include getting to see Ben for almost a whole week and lots of work. And now for some semi-details.

Ben got here on the 4th of July and stayed til the 9th. We got breakfast with some friends on the 4th and then later had a bonfire at one's house. Thursday we just kinda chilled by ourselves and then Friday we went to Cedar Point with some of my family that were in town. We rode almost all of the main coasters and it was pretty cool. We rode the Raptor towards the end of our trip (it's a ride where your feet dangle because there's no floor beneath you) and my sister was wearing flip flops. After much warning about them potentially falling off, she got on the ride with them on. Halfway through I hear next to me "My shoooooe!" and I just laughed my ass off the rest of the ride. Her foot was really black and gross by the time we left.

Saturday my family had a reunion and we all got together and I introduced Ben to alot of people. Some crazy guy (not related to us) came stumbling by and stood on top of a hill watching us. After a while my gma asked Ben to make him a plate and take it up there. I thought it was kind of cruel/funny to ask him of all people because she knew he wasn't going to say no to the request since he''s trying to impress people. lol. Anyway, Ben ended up talking to the guy for like 15 minutes and found out that he was a crazy drunk suicidal churchy person. It was frightening from how he described it.

Sunday was another chill day for us. We went to the movies and saw License to Wed. It was funny but the ending was way too sappy/ridiculous. After that we had a bit of downtime before I had to go home, so we just hung out in the van in the movie parking lot. This is something that we've done many times before, although this time was a lot scarier. We were just relaxing with the windows halfway down and the doors unlocked (we were towards the back) when all of a sudden this guy walks up along the van, opens the passenger door and gets inside. At first I was thinking if it was just a crazy lost guy. Then I see him grab my purse. That's when I start yelling. "Give me my fucking purse you god damn son of a bitch!" Ben ran towards the front of the van and the guy thankfully gave it up with not much problem. We might've scared him almost as much as he scared us, but the whole experience still freaked me out. We're just lucky he didn't have a gun or something.

Monday I had to go back to work and that was tiring. Monday evening was my last with Ben so that was sad. I can't wait for the next three weeks to hurry up and be over with.

Tuesday I had my first intentional act of violence done to me at camp. We were getting ready to play duck duck goose when this kid slapped another camper in the face. I got him away from the group and started to reprimand him/ask him questions. He was getting more aggrevated and I put my hand on his shoulder gently. He shrugged it off, picked up the nearest object (a softball) and chucked it at my shoulder. It didn't really hurt too much, but it was just the shock value of 'He wanted to hurt me'. After about 5 minutes he apologized to me and he was pretty good for the rest of the day.

The rest of the week as far as work went was very chaotic. Probably the worst week so far and hopefully it stays that way. We just have two weeks left before I'll have to find something else to do.

Friday night I saw HP5 for the first time. I thought it was pretty good compared to the other ones. It also really got me hyped up for the last book. I'm going to this town in my area that goes all out for book releases on Friday. They literally close down like two of three streets and turn it into stuff like in the book. It should be pretty sweet. (Yeah I know that I probably sound nerdy, but I don't care!)

So overall things have been ok. Hope everyone else is doing well!

Happy 4th of July to everyone. Not too much going on lately. Work has been going fairly well minus a few conflicts with some of the staff not doing their part. Camper numbers are down this week but it doesn't really matter for me since today was my last day of the week. Family and Ben are gonna be up here tomorrow so I have the rest of the week off. We're going to Cedar Point on Friday so that should be cool. Going to end this here because I'm getting tiiiired. Hope everyone is well!

Well it's been a while since I've given any sort of update. A lot has been happening, mainly in terms of my job at that summer camp for kids with special needs. About two weeks ago I started training and I had to stay overnight at the place for three nights. It was a new experience for me because I was in a cabin with a bunch of people that I didn't know. I was one of those deprived kids who never had the chance to go to camp or even something like girl scouts. lol. Anyway, throughout training we learned CPR, First Aid, and this thing called CPI which is like Crisis Prevention somethingorother. The last thing was cool because I learned a lot of cool ways to defend myself. On a Tuesday, myself and the others kids working at the new camp site they just started rather than the overnight camp got to leave and go home. Our next three days of training were where we were actually going to be working and I liked it a lot better then because I was with a group of 9 people instead of 39. Training week seemed to go on FOREVER.

I had the weekend to rest up and then on Monday I had my first day. I have one word to describe it and that is chaotic. The whole day was nuts. We had some kids who were really bad and would bite, scream, cry, kick, etc. By the end of the day, none of us knew what to think aside from 'It can't get any worse than this.' Wrooong. The next day was just a bit worse in my opinion. We had the same kind of day as Monday, only some kid fainted because it was hot out. Our others campers didn't know what was going on at first, so we thought "Good, lets remove them from the situation before they figure it out". As we started to get ready, it started to pour down rain, thunder, lightening, the whole package. And we were stuck in a one room building that is kind of a walk from the main building. So we had a kid who was passed out, counselors trying to help him, campers freaking out either because of the storm or because of the kid, and it was time for parents to show up. Eventually we had to just pack everyone up and try to make a run for it. It was quite an experience. There was a lot of "Is he dead?!?!" and "Is there a tornado?!?" Wednesday through Friday went a lot better in my opinion because some of the "problem" kids weren't there for various reasons. Thank god.

My group of kids in general were not too bad. Two other counselors and myself had a group of 8 kids that we had throughout the week with an age range of 10-13. There was a boy who was really good on the first day, but then became progressively less good acting as the week went on. We had one girl with cerebral palsy who kind of got attached to me most of the week. I liked her a lot but it was really upsetting and frustrating because she had a very bad speech problem and didn't know many words. She would point to things and say something and I wouldn't know what she meant. There were a few other campers who were practically nonverbal as well and that really makes me want to learn sign language. I'm going to try to take some classes on it if I can. We had another girl who was pretty good most of the week, but was deathly afraid of bugs. So most of her time outside was spent freaking out until we went inside. Another girl in my group just asked questions the entire time. She was only there for two days thankfully. Another was good aside from the fact that she would pick things off of the ground and throw them and would also clog the toliet with toliet paper unless you got her into the stall with no lock on the door. We had another who was well behaved almost the whole time. There were maybe one or two times in the day when she would flip out or get really upset, but I got decent at getting her back in a good mood. Our last girl was fairly good and I think that's mainly because she had an aid with her all week. So that is an overview of the campers that were in my group this past week. My directors put me with the group of 10-13 year olds again but I might have some different ones this week since some are going to the other camp. I'm a bit more prepared feeling for this upcoming week, although we have two kids coming in wheelchairs and one of them wears a diaper that needs changed a few times a day. I wonder whos group she is in...

    • Vacation time over :(

So I got back from the outer banks of N.C. around midnight on Sunday. It had been such a beautiful and relaxing week down there, although after a week with just me and my gma, I was ready to come home. lol. I'd really like to take Ben and my other friends down there next summer for a week at the oceanfront cottage we always have. I think it'd be a really good time.

The week basically consisted of sitting at or near the beach, going out to eat, cruising some little shops, and sleeping. We also went and saw an outdoor performance one night about the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island. It was pretty good aside from the nasty mosquitoes. We had some problems with flying on the way back. Security was a little tighter since they uncovered that plot that dealt with the JFK airport. Also there was a lot of bad weather everywhere, which eventually pushed our arriving time home back an hour and a half. Sometimes I think that driving would be a hell of a lot easier. Although this would've been a 12 hour drive. Ah well.

Before I left for vacation, I got to spend a week having Ben up here. It was a really nice week overall. We went on like a two hour long hike one day, saw some movies, hung out around our friend's house and just enjoyed our time together. It will be a while before I see him again, but I look forward to it every day.

I start training for my job at the camp on Saturday. I'm going to have to get used to waking up at 8am for five days a week 'til August. I'm kind of nervous about the whole thing. Because being a camp counselor has enough responsibility to go along that. Being a counselor for kids with special needs has even more responsibility. I just hope that I do a good job over the summer.

I'm really confused about my future right now. I'm starting to doubt whether or not teaching would be the right thing for me. I doubt my ability to do well in that field, plus I don't feel like going to school for four years. Speaking of school...I'm transferring, to a school closer to home. It will be a lot cheaper for me and is what will be best for me in the long run. I haven't told my family yet. I just hope that they're supportive of my decision.

    • Summer so far

So, I've been home for almost two weeks now and it has been a really nice break. I started out looking for a job hardcore when I first got back, but nothing came up. I was getting kinda bummed until I went to this bonfire at a friends where someone told me about this camp that she works at over the summer with disabled kids. It sounded like a really good deal because I could make money, get experience, and get the required amount of hours to get into my major. Bad part was that training started when I was going to be on vacation. I looked the camp up online and found out that they have a few different camps, and I sent them an email with some questions. Two hours later I get a call and an interview was set up. I went in the next day feeling really nervous, and the thing ended up lasting only 5 minutes. All they did was look at the application, ask me one question, and then asked if I wanted it. lol. I said yes of course. I was so excited! So now I have training June 9-15, then camp Monday through Friday from 9-5 starting on June 18th and going to July 27th. So it's cool because I get a few more weeks to relax, and then have about 3 weeks free at the end of summer before I go back to school. It will definitely be an interesting experience. I asked the woman the range of severity of the campers and she said that it really varies, going as severe as a completely non conversational autistic kid who flaps their hands to someone as mild as a hyper ADHD kid. She said that some will act like they love you one minute, and then will be cussing you out and spitting on you the next. I'm going to get more info on it in a few weeks so that's cool.

As I said, I'm going on vacation soon to the outer banks of North Carolina. I have been there about 5 or 6 times before, but it's been about 4 years since the last time. It should be different because it's just going to be me and my grandma, but it'll still be relaxing. Yay sun and sand!

What is most awesome is that Ben is coming up here in two days and I'm really excited about that. It's been about two weeks since I've seen him, but after this trip it'll be even longer. smiley2.gif But I'm happy for the week ahead and I'm sure I'll enjoy every minute of it. Alllllso, it's two and a half years today! smiley12.gifsmiley0.gifsmiley12.gifsmiley0.gif

I'm home for the summer now. I've been here since Friday and it has been pretty good so far. I feel kind of nervous that I don't have a job yet though. I'm going to turn in some applications in a bit. I've already got to hang out with some friends and I'm seeing some more throughout the week so that's. Saw Spiderman 3 midnight on Thursday and it was pretty good. It was kinda weird seeing Topher Grace play a bad guy though. Anyway, I'm too lazy to write more now but figured I'd at least give a little update. lol

That kind of sucks... I guess next time just don't take night classes. They tend to f-up you schule anywayz, sleeping and hanging out and all that other stuffs.

Well it wasn't me... at least I don't think I was in another state... *ponders* Man it's been a while since I've thought about it.

Yeah, elementary kids are fun. I would teach them, but I think I'd play with 'em too much to actually teach 'em stuff. That wouldn't be good. I like middle school kids. They can play and learn. Plus, not many people wanna teach middle school so I think I'll have a better chance at it.

yeah I'm glad people are noticing cuz most of the time I'm mistaken for a 13 year old, and girls I'm with are robbing the cradle :P

Yeah, it's pretty chill. It's a family owned business, so the people there are cool and they've all worked there for a while. I like it, and I like all the people there. Things could be worse.

Course, this job is only temporary. I'm trying to get a job where I'm workin' with kids. Kids are great and I feel like I've accomplished something when I work with 'em. It's great.

Well I happen to be workin' in a grocery store. It's a corner store that my roommate used to work at and he got me a job there.
