      Not that anyone really cares...

So, with 3.5 years passing between updates, and also 3.5 years since I even visited the site for more than a couple of seconds, wow! Lots of updates, stuff to catch up on, etc.

So, I'm now a music education major...again. Spent my freshman year of college as a music ed. major, then switched to graphic design for two years, spent one year wallowing about doing nothing much at all, and have settled back on music education. So now, I'm on the 7-year plan for my bachelor's degree. Hey, if I keep going to school long enough, I'll eventually start getting Pell Grants again, instead of piling up more debt through Stafford loans.

I still do band and choir, and stay very busy with those activities. In fact, my choir group is doing a bunch of fundraising because we're going to be taking a week-long trip to Torino, Italy next year! So that should be fun.

Finally, I've gotten a new job in my college town - convenience store clerk. It's definitely not the most exciting or fun thing ever, but it's pretty easy and gets me money.

Okay, that's it for now...I think.

    • So...new journal time again

Yep, it's that time again, folks - a journal update. It's nice to be finished with another year of school; the first year of college was predominantly uninteresting. Most of my time was spent practicing and performing in 4 music groups. I miss marching band, but I can deal with it - besides, the band director might let me play bari next year for concert, pep and jazz band, so that would be cool. This fall I may be involved in a production of Sweeney Todd, which would be my first theater experience of any kind.

In other news, work is....well, it's...work. I'm finally getting a chance to work with Adobe Photoshop and CorelDraw, which are the programs we use to design signs. I'm not too advanced yet, but it will come with time. Now, if only I didn't have to deal with moronic customers..."Do you guys make signs?" (asked as the guy looked at the sign on the wall that says Sign Pro). There are many other examples, but that's the only one I can think of at the moment. I know, I know...many other people have stories to tell that are much worse, but I find myself constantly being disappointed due to some people's lack of intelligence.

And on that note, I end with a quote from Marvin from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: "Life! Don't talk to me about life."

      Latorzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......

I can't even think of a title for this journal. Mainly I'm just updating to remind anyone who reads my journal that my life is largely dull and boring. Yeah, I did help run a regional high school music festival on April 1. Well, correction - I was a door monitor for a vocal solo room. That was fairly boring until a thunderstorm started heading our way in the afternoon; so I got to see all the directors freak out over whether they should try to beat the storms home or wait for them to pass. So really, not actually a very exciting day.

Then, yesterday, I went to see my sister perform at her solo/ensemble contest. She had a vocal solo and ensemble, a bassoon solo, and a woodwind quartet. She gets to perform all but the bassoon solo at state later this month.

Oh, also, I will not be a music major next year - I'm going to be a computer technician instead. Well, that's all for now, I think...

    • Okay, time for a new journal

Well, before someone starts getting angry at me for not updating (if anyone even looks at my page anymore), here's an update. Had a choir concert and a jazz band concert this past week, which went fairly well. I have to go play at a basketball game tonight, and that's the last one the band will play at. The Vienna Boys' Choir is coming to my hometown on March 1, followed by the US Army Jazz Ambassadors on March 4. (How we get groups like these to perform in Western Kansas is completely beyond me). Finally, I have a band concert on March 11. There, I think that pretty much sums up my schedule until then.

On an entirely unrelated note, someone at the high school got whooping cough, and my little sister is in a class with him, so she is on preventative medication, as are the rest of the students this kid was in class with. So now, I'm concentrating on not getting whooping cough if my sister should happen to come down with it.

      I guess that's it...I think...

    • Hooray for the Steelers!!!!!

Damn, that was a good game...for non-Broncos fans, anyway! (Sorry, Broncos fans, but your team pretty much got owned). I wish Carolina would have won too, but you can't have everything. The Super Bowl should will be a thing of beauty to behold.

    • Go Steelers!!

Well, I find myself becoming a very big Steelers fan all of a sudden. Here's hoping that Blitzburgh can find the right formula to stop those pesky Broncos. I am glad Indy is out of the Super Bowl race though - for some inexplicable reason, I have never liked Peyton, and never will.

    • New Chiefs coach

      adunakhor

Herman Edwards should be announced as the new Chiefs head coach on Monday. Today, he signed a 4-year, $12 million contract with the Chiefs. Now, the question becomes: will Al Saunders be signed as a head coach somewhere else? He deserves it, but (and I believe I speak for all Chiefs fans) I don't want to see him go.

The Chiefs and Jets have agreed on compensation for the final 2 years of Herman Edwards' contract. This year's fourth round pick is the price, which is not at all high considering the Jets as early as last night were demanding a first or second round pick. Now, contract negotiations will begin.

    • OK..this is officially a record (for me)

      ^ 3 journals in 6 days...yep, it's a record!

So, my 2nd semester of college starts in 5 days. It should work out well enough...only 16 hours. And, I'll go back to working about 3 hours a day, rather than full 9-5 days like I'm working now. Less time at work means less work, but less money - oh well, I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

Now for my new journal section: Chiefs Watch! The Chiefs and Jets are in talks regarding the future of Herman Edwards, current Jets head coach. He has 2 years left on his contract in NY, but the feeling is that the Jets are wanting to let him go if the Chiefs don't sign him. Reports say that the Chiefs have offered a fourth and fifth round draft pick to the Jets in compensation for acquiring Edwards' services.

    • Happy Birthday to Me!

Yep, once again, the title says it all. I'm 19 today. So, my birthday celebration is a full day of work, renewing my driver's license, and cleaning my room. But it's all good, because Texas won and hopefully everyone will finally shut up about USC.
