So after spending a weekend with my cousins at RTX 2016 and realizing how talented they were all... I'm not going to lie, I felt so out of place... I've always felt out of place with my family given that apart from being entirely nerdy, I've never had much of a creative side.My entire family screams art. My parents were semi-professional dancers in Mexico, my brother is an aspiring writer, my cousin wants to be an animator, my other cousin is an actress, my other cousin is a professional ballet dancer, my other cousin wants to be a singer, my other cousin is a beginner aerial dancer....and the list goes on an on. I'm the only one who likes math and enjoys science and other more "quantitative" skills. Even when I was a part of the film club in high school, I never really enjoyed filming and editing, so that passion died a while back.
Now that I've been in the midst of an existential crisis given that I've given up on pursuing law school and hate banking overall, I don't really know what to do with my life. I'm honestly at a loss. However, after speaking with Brandon at RTX 2016, he encouraged me to pursue Producing. I was like, "huh? Don't I have to have prior film experience for that?" He agreed but also said that many of my finance and administrative experience translate well into this profession.
So how did I respond? By doing the most nerdiest and cerebral thing I could think of.... hit Amazon and order a bunch of "How to be a Producer" books for some quality reading! So there you have it folks; if any of you have any projects that you want me to look over or help you with budgeting and strategy planning for a film, let me know! I'll do it for free and just for the experience! I figured offering my services to the RT Community, a community I cherish and is close to my heart, would be the ideal thing to do. Let me help you realize your creative dream using my boring analytical skills!
You listening Spielberg? Give me about 2 years and you will be begging me to join your team! MWAHAHAH! (And yes I do realize this is such an anime thing to do to scream your dreams unto the winds of the internet. I'm am very much a geek after all!)
