Not sure whether this would be the right section or if this might exist somewhere in the vast community interweb. But I feel like this needs its own thread where people can share their favourite URL or create their own:

If you're like me then you love learning new skills, or wish you could master a few more skills. For me I'm currently trying to teach myself a new language and code, but also dabble in writing (shorts, poetry..stuff like that) and video creation and editing. But the problem is starting and finding the best places to learn (preferably for free or minimal cost). So I created this thread in hopes that people would share what skills they want to try and learn or are learning and others can provide help and advice. Basically create a mini networking thread where people can use their expertise in certain skills to aid others.

Protein Shake (100% Whey) for post training and as a quick protein source if unable to make one of the meals. Used to provide a source of protein to increase protein synthesise post work-out to help repair the micro-fibre tears that occurred during training.

Casein Shake: Used for increased muscle retention, to prevent the body breaking down muscle to replace the lower calorie diet. Due to it containing higher calcium content than normal protein, Casein helps burn more body fat than regular protein. This form of protein is more beneficial to take before bed.

BCAA- Replaces the branch-chain amino acids lost during training and helps provide the building blocks for muscle tissue, therefore aids recovery and building muscle post training and during sleep.

      The Training Program

5-3-1 Training Program (App available called “5-3-1” to calculate all weights based off your starting one rep maximum for each compound movement).

This Program focuses on compound movements (deadlifts, squats, bench press, military press) and aims to increase the one rep maximum of each movement over 4 weeks. Each session starts with these compound exercises and consists for 2 warm up sets (between 5-8 reps):

week one: set 1 and 2 are 5 reps, set 3 is 5 or more reps

week two: set 1 and 2 are 3 reps, set 3 is 3 or more reps

week three: set 1 is 5 reps, set 2 is 3 reps and set 3 is 1 or more reps

week four: set 1, 2 and 3 are all 5 reps

This aims to add 10-20kg onto your one rep maximum by the end of these 4 weeks if done correctly.

Not everyone feels like it, but we are all unique. We all have experiences and talents that most of the world don't have. So what makes you, you? Do you have an interesting fact about yourself?

I'll start. I'm 21 and I've lived in 17 different places, in 5 different countries. I've spent a few months living in a hotel, in a trailer park and lived out of boxes for a bit as well. It's nothing special but it makes me pretty unique.

There is always that one song where, no matter how little you listen to it or how long since you last heard it, you can always recite word for word every time. For me, for some odd reason, it is "Dance wiv me" by Dizzee Rascal. I enjoyed the song but never listened to it that much, I haven't heard it in several years, but still can sing it on cue. What is your song?

      Hey guys,

I am thinking about starting to make gaming videos, I have no experience in anything that technical. I need your help badly, I need your expertise in this field. I use a Classic Xbox 360 and a PC for my gaming, what would you recommend to use to capture my footage? Secondly, I have seen so many different headsets and microphones, which one is good quality and a decent price (under £100)? What else would I need to capture my footage and audio, upload it onto my Macbook Air and edit it?

I am looking to do this on a relative budget, so highest quality for lowest price, and if it can be avoided I would prefer to buy these items in the store somewhere in London, just for ease. So I am turning to you guys for some serious help, I have no idea where to go or what to buy. My initial search has found Elgato Game Capture HD is a good system for both Xbox 360 and PC gaming. Turtle Beach headsets are a decent piece of audio equipment. FRAPS, Shadowplay, Playclaw, and Dxtory are all good editing softwares, and Audiocity is good for my PC audio.

Any help you guys can give will be much appreciated. As I said I am not a pro at technical terms or just technical stuff, so pretend I'm an idiot for this.

      Thanks

    • Career choices

I am at that stage where I must in the next year or so decide what to do with my life. I can't be lazy and do nothing, so I must find myself a job. The question is, what job? I have had 4-5 months worth of experience in the Human Resources department of a company, and have done the odd bit in finance. This has taught me, I can do HR, finance is not for me. There is so much choice, but so little time to explore these choices. This has caused me to try making videos and editing, just to see if I like it, and it links my two favourite things, gaming and talking about stuff to no-one in particular. If you guys have any advice please feel free to share.
