    • Help me make my film! (and other stuff)

Hey guys. It's been a loooong time since I've posted here. This semester has really kicked my ass. It hasn't necessarily been hard school work but I've just been having way more depression than motivation lol.

But in better news, a script I wrote was chosen to be made into a short film next semester! I'm soooo excited. Only thing is we're expected to come up with the budget on our own, so if you'd like to help out you can donate here. Or even give it a share! Anything helps.

I also found out that I'll finally be graduating in May. It will have been seven years since starting undergrad. I used to have a lot of regrets about how much I changed my mind (and major), but without doing all that I wouldn't have the amazing friends I have, the sweetest boyfriend in the entire world, or be getting to make this film that I'm so excited about.

I hope everyone is doing well!  two_hearts

Howdy I just finished my final video for the semester and just wanted to share it here. It came together super last minute so I'm really proud of it. I'm hoping to start making more videos soon, and not just for school lol.

It kinda sucks that most of my posts on this site have a title like that one. But I feel like I have a genuine excuse this time, at least. I'm in film school and this semester has easily been the busiest I've ever experienced, and I've experienced many. I've already created (written/produced/directed) one video, worked with a group on another, and I'm about to start on my final video, which will be the most time consuming one I've done, in addition to the fact that I've crewed on 5 or 6 classmates' videos throughout the semester. Shit's crazy.

As for what I've been up to other than that, not much. I'm working on my guardian application right now, but I probably won't finish until I get this video done and finish all my finals. Despite being extremely busy, I really like where I am in my life right now. I have some amazing friends, my dog is finally living with me, and I'm pursuing my dreams... and all that cheesy stuff. My life has changed so much since last year. I lived alone, never went out, never hung out with anyone, and kinda hated everything. Turns out a little Zoloft makes me a much happier and more outgoing person. I feel like I'm more me than I ever have been.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing great. I miss my RTX friends every day, and can't wait for August! :D

      Hello there!

I've been lurking (like always) but it's been a while since I made a journal post here and I kinda miss it.

Film school has been fun. I'm still in what I call baby classes so I find myself getting a bit frustrated at how slow it's going. But next fall I'll be getting into the more challenging classes and I can't wait.

I've been struggling with depression and anxiety off and on which sucks but that's life I guess. I think financial problems are the crux issue but I'm working on getting things back in order.

I started the year off really well, making videos and writing and all that good stuff, but once classes started back I kinda fell off the wagon. So I'm going to try to get back into it. I think having something to do in my free time other than watching things will be good for me.

In terms of Rooster Teeth, I'm still set to be a guardian at RTX Austin this year. My financial issues had me worried but as far as I know, I should be able to swing it. I've been trying to catch up on some of my favorite shows like the Podcast, Always Open, and Minecraft. Sometimes I'll go a month or two without watching any RT and forget how much I love it.

Anyway, hope everyone has been doing well!

    • I posted a video and I feel really good.

I was going to wait until New Years to actually start uploading legit videos to my channel but I'M TIRED OF WAITING. So here is me rambling for 19 minutes about procrastination and taking action and Carrie Fisher.

It feels like I just ripped off a major band aid and it feels great. Even if the only person who ever watches this ends up being my mom, I feel great and that's why I'm making videos, even weird ramble-y ones like this.

"Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow." — Carrie Fisher

    • Making Videos

In an attempt to start making videos instead just sitting around wishing I was making videos, I made a video. I decided to make a time lapse of me making a blanket because I need editing practice anyway and also why not. I am not at all a DIY-er, as you can see by the finished product, but it was fun to just make something while I was making something.

Here it is if you wanna watch it in all of its glory lmao

    • Just turned in my guardian application

Even though I've been a guardian for the last two years, the period from when I turn my guardian application in to when I hear if I got accepted is the most nerve-wracking time of the year.

Like what if I did something wrong last year and didn't know it? What if I didn't realize an attendee was asking me for help because it's really loud in the ACC and now I'm fired? What if I stared at Josh Flanagan's beard in admiration a little too long? I tried to limit myself to 3 seconds.

    • Film School is my hero

So tomorrow will be 2 weeks since I started film school. And honestly, everything is great. It was weird at first not knowing anyone, but after two weeks I have several people that I could call to hang out with anytime. For supper I'm meeting a girl I met who I bonded with over Harry Potter. Thanks, J.K.R. (again). <3

In terms of the actual school part, it feels like it's too good to be true sometimes. Though I am really ready to start taking more film classes instead of... anything else really, I can genuinely say that I like all my classes this semester. Psychology, writing, history, and film. It also helps that I haven't met any insufferable professors who make everything horrible lol. My film class is very basic of course, but I still love it. I am never not excited to learn about filmmaking even if I already know what we're going over. It'll be really fun to actually be challenged in my future classes.

Before going to UCA, I never really did any extracurricular activities. For four whole years. My first year, I was suffering from depression and barely ever left my bed to attend class, much less anything else. The next two years, I was living off campus and had about $500 in bills to pay every month, so I worked all the time. And last year I lived in the middle of nowhere, four hours from my college while I took online classes.

This time I want to do it right. I want to live the college life that I always pictured in my head. I wanna be involved, and busy (but not just with work), and have friends from more than one small circle. I know nothing ever turns out perfectly the way you imagine it in your head, but I'm also figuring out that it'll never even get close if you don't try. So I joined the school newspaper team, and my first article came out today. Writing for the newspaper has never really been on my radar, but it turns out to be something I really enjoy, and I'm inspired by all the talented students in the group. It can be a bit stressful at times, but I'm learning a skill that I will most definitely need in the future. I'll be honest, I was extremely proud to see my name above a newspaper article today. I only posted it on every social media platform I use lol.

Long story short, everything is great and I'm slowly learning that the shoe isn't waiting to drop. For four years I had just accepted that fact that I'd always hate college, but guess what? I'm allowed to enjoy my life. As long as I'm doing what I want to do, it's not too good to be true.

    • Do you ever feel like something is just meant to be?

That's how I feel right now about film school. I just moved here on Saturday, I'm in love with my apartment, and as of today, I have two really good part time jobs. One is a work study position in the library that I'll work three mornings a week, and the other is Old Navy where I'll work in the evenings. Apart from during holidays when Old Navy is really busy, I should still have plenty of down time to relax and study. I can also do homework while working at the library!

Everything has just fallen into place so well here. It'll still be a month or so before I really get back on my feet financially, but then it'll all be smooth sailing. I can't help but feel really fortunate that everything has worked out. :)
