      I'm still alive!

Well, it's been 2 years since my last entry, and ironically enough it was about trying to choose between Ben and and another guy. Well, I chose Ben. It was hard at first, and if I am not on a good enough medication I continue to think about the other guy (even though it is most definitely over and I would never do anything). I got married in October 2012. It was a nice simple ceremony, just us, his mom and dad, my mom and dad, and my bro and his fiancé, it took place in my parents back yard.

I am no longer a school bus driver :( when I moved to the sea coast, the commute was too far to keep the job I had, plus there was a lot of crazy drama there...so I got a job driving the local area city bus. I worked for a local school bus company but they decided not to continue my employment in the fall (and didn't tell me, I found out from unemployment...btw I did nothing wrong, showed up for all my shifts, was comfortable driving to Boston). The city bus job is ok, but it gets boring driving the same roads all the time, and the new schedule leaves me short on hours. Maybe I'll be able to get back to school buses in the future.

I still have the little Geo Convertible. It's doing well, except it needs a new speedo cable this spring. I traded the Kis Soul for a Fiat 500. The Kia was really nice and all, but I had to have the Fiat. I love the Fiat...so much fun in such a little package. Speaking of little packages, I got a Vespa scooter! It got a 150cc motor so I can go up to 60mph. It is so much fun. I rode more this first summer with it than the 4 years I had my motorcycle!

Hobo cat is doing great. He is just getting over a yeast infection in his ear, poor baby, and a bad reaction to his rabies vaccine. He loves play time lol.

Hmm...I think that about covers it....my life is just that exciting.

      avwjeep

Ok, so I am a few days late with my end of year post....deal with it ;-)

      The Good:

      + Squishy being completed
+ Hobo Kitten being the bestest kitten in the world
+ Getting almost 40 hours gauranteed at work
+ Trying to get my health sorted out
+ Connecting with my half bro on facebook

      The Bad:
      \ Spending too much money
      \ Failing at work
\ Jeep being a total piece of shit and blowing a motor

      The Ugly:
      - Lightning dying
      - Too many mental breakdowns
      - Getting into credit card debt
      - Constant fights with the bf

    • Merry Christmas!

Well, it's a holiday, so I am updating!

Hobo kitten is doing awesome....growing quickly. He still likes to attack my face, but it's ok. He is so adorable! Santa Kitty came and brought him and the 6 other cats lots of new toys!

Work is going ok...had a tough few weeks. I definately needed this 2 week vacation! I dunno what my issue was, but I made a couple stupid mistakes. I do now have my own kindergarten route which is nice. I get right around 40 hours a week.

I am taking advantage of having insurance...I went to the eye doc...have new glasses, I will have to get a pic. I went to the dentist, have to get fillings :-\, and have a doctor, therapist (yes, I am going back to therapy as I am pretty messed up at this point), and veterinary appointment (ok, not for me, for Hobo's vaccines).

So far I got $200, 1600 Xbox points, and 3 months of Live. I am going to Chris's later and will get presents there too.

Things went really bad with Chris for a while, but seem to be getting better....we'll see. It's all quite complicated. Hopefully starting therapy again will help me figure out what I want to do.

Not much has been going on in my life...just going through the motions. Things with the bf are difficult at times lately, but there has finally been some better moments. Hopefully things can improve.

Still driving the big yellow bus around. That can be fustrating cause my coworkers suck. I had to say goodbye to my favorite boss ever Tuesday. I will miss him, he was the one who trained me, and was a blast to work with. The guy who is taking his place is cool, but it's not the same. He is retiring, which he does deserve!

My kitten came home today, he is so cute! He has to get used to all the other cats and dog....that will take a little bit, but overall things are going well. Yeah...I got a kitten. He was found on the railroad bed behind my bf's house, and was going to have to go to the shelter, but I decided I wanted him. He is mostly gray long haired. Very cute. If he will ever stay still long enough to have his photo taken, I will post pics!

As far as Turkey day, spent the morning at the bf's house...I laid on the couch watching TV while he was prepping dinner. We didn't get to spend much time together. I took off around 4 to bring the kitten home. And here I am.

I am thankful for cats, they are wonderful!

      Once again, I am depressed.

One of my friends moved into her first house (well condo) with her boyfriend, another friend of mine got married and is expecting a baby. One of Chris's friends is getting married.

Why don't I get to be the one moving into a place? Or be the one getting married (although, at the moment, marriage is not something I am ready for anymore)....But I want to move on with my life!

But I don't have the money. I spent too much on the silly little red car, and now I don't have the money for a down payment or security deposit. I thought I would be able to easily pay off the card I had a balance on, but I keep buying more stuff, so I can't catch up. The only way for me to not spend money is not to go anywhere where I can. If I stay at work or go home, I am fine..but it sucks being at work all day, and I don't really want to go home either. Plus, going to the stores makes me walk around and get something that resembles exercise.

      I dunno...

My friend and I were supposed to hang out tonight, but he cancelled due to "work" that came up...course when I told Chris this, Chris's first response was why, and then he said that it was cause he couldn't stand me. This sucks, my bf doesn't even want to be around me, my friend doesn't want to be around me. I just suck in general. I am a failure to my parents, a pain in the ass to my bf, and must annoy my friend enough to make him cancel.

      Life sucks.

I didn't even post pics of my beautiful little car I have been driving everywhere!

      DSCN0867.jpg
      DSCN0869.jpg

The car is "done". Still working out the bugs and all, but it runs and drives great! It is an absolute blast.

His name is Squishy and he is a 1992 Geo Metro Convertible with full Suzuki Swift GTi body kit, seats, steering wheel.

      He started out as:

With a completely rotted out drivers side floor and rocker panel...

    • Long weekend

      avwjeep

I went into this long weekend dreading it. I didn't want to have to work on my car this whole time. But it has actually turned out to be quite nice!!

      FRIDAY:
Took off on my motorcycle for a couple hours. Very nice day to be riding around. Then I went to work on my car...got the lights sorted out and the rear bumper installed. Then i hung out with my guy friend while Chris went to the dragstrip. Very nice times. Had my first experience being stopped at a DUI checkpoint...wasn't nearly as bad as I though...the cops were super nice. Then I had to drive through another one nearer to my house!

      SATURDAY:
I can't really remember what happened Saturday. I think it was just more time spent working on my car. I can't remember what was accomplished. No, I wasn't drunk...I really don't remember. Oh wait, now I do...I had to POR (Paint over rust) the rest of the passenger side to prevent rust. That stuff sticks big time to your skin!

      SUNDAY:
More progress on the car! Got the bedliner on the floorpan done. We are using it as a cheap soundeadener. I got a good deal on a kit..$40 for a gallon, tray, roller, paintbrush and scuff pad. Usually it is over $40 for just the bedliner. That was a mess. But it's done.

While I did that, Chris tore down the motor and got the pistons and lifters soaking for installation Monday.

      MONDAY: (today)
The plan is to do the carpet and the motor. We'll see...hopefully it will work out. We get a late start because he has to go help another guy with his Metro. (I get a cool valve cover out of the deal!).

Well, I better start thinking about getting ready to go. I gotta go pick up some stuff....

Yay for Country Track pack, if I had rock band, I would definately be buying that! But I have no money cause my car stole it all from me....so it will have to wait.

As I said in the journal, one only needs instruments. The Country Track Pack is a game all on its own.

You don't have to tell me about the V6. My Grand has the 4.0 straight six, and I was crawling up inclines at 1500 RPM in first.

I did the same incline the next day in my grandfather's JK, with the 3.7, I needed 2300 RPM.

3.7 does not have the torque that the 4.0 does, even though it has nearly 10% more horsepower.

It's the fleet fuel efficiency, that's why they stopped producing the I6. Stupid decision if you ask me. The small bit of gas saved is used transporting a brand new motor when the V6 breaks down. The I6 is damn near a bullet proof engine.

I went wheeling over the weekend and my grandfather has a new Rubicon JK with the V6... And I'm idling up over things that he needs 2500 to 3000 RPM.

*shakes head* yet another reason not to have a JK. Or anything with the V6. I like my inline.

Hahaha....I went over a year without changing my wipers...which is impressive because of all the road salt and grime in NH....The only reason I had to change them is because an ice storm wrecked the plastic rubber cover and so the cover was getting caught when they wiped. Other than that they were fine! The one on the rear is going on 2 years or more....and that does get used, and in the worst conditions!

Hah, I can't imagine doing that.

After about a year, my wiper blades actually begin to disintegrate, and the rubber part falls off, and the metal parts of my wipers threaten to scratch my windshield. At that point, I remember that I need to replace my wipers, and I do so immediately. smiley6.gif

The thing is, all meat sold in America is killed for meat by FDA approved methods. They are shipped live to a stock yard where they are processed for meat. They are grown in ideal conditions. It doesn't make sense to raise cows in an environment that some would see as harsh, because that doesn't provide quality meat, which doesn't give as much money.

Besides, why else would animals like cows, chickens, and pigs be put on this planet? Cows don't make good pets, they're not good pack animals, and the only organism that's in danger of being eaten by cows is grass.

I like Vista as well except for the few little things but Windows 7 has definitely improved upon it.

Micorsoft's official claim is that Windows 7 will be out right around the third anniversary of Vista which would be the beginning of 2010 but others are saying towards the end of 2009.

Windows 7 doesn't seem to hang as much as Vista when opening a program and it's MUCH faster to print a file but they use just about the same amount of ram .

Leaving the computer idle Windows 7 uses about 7% of the cpu.

My last post was very redundant. Lol. Sorry about that.

But, yes, I agree that limbo sucks. I'm currently there myself. I know what I want to do, but before I get there I got to finish school and get a job. From there I can start building my network and starting my own businesses.

Sounds to me that you should start putting a plan for yourself together. I have my plan, but I'm to the point where I'm waiting on time (looking for a job needs to be done in the right part of the cycle) or waiting on people to get back to me. It's frustrating, I know.

I think the first thing you might want to consider which will improve your chances of getting your own place with the bf and working on getting married would probably get a position that can afford it. Right?

As far as moving ahead in your career. Have you tried using Linked In? I'm currently using it myself to start a professional network - while I don't know what I can get out of it yet, I'm sure something good will come out of it.

Also, starting tomorrow, Monster's going to be completely revamped. Not sure what all that entails, but I'm definitely interested. Another thing is that typically speaking moving forward in jobs typically is about networking. 10% of all people have access to 90% of the available positions and the other 90% only know about the remaining 10% of positions - naturally the ones that are advertised online (where the competition is incredible).

Again, it's not knowing what you know that will land you the job, it's more of who you know.

Possible other ways of expanding your network include participating in young professional groups in your city and/or looking to see if there are any job clubs around.

Anyhow, hope that's a good start to help you to start thinking about getting yourself out of limbo. Also know that the sooner you start looking the close you'll be to landing something in construction. Having a little bit of experience in the area, I know that they start doing contracts about this time of the year and will start looking for additional help in the spring as the temp starts to rise.

Okay, but still filling a void. :-)

And lemme go on with that... people that know what they want to do with themselves tend to not have a void to fill.

Believe me, while I was in engineering and I wasn't sure what I wanted for myself I was in very dire straights. The only reason I was studying engineering was for the money, and money is not the end all. For me, for example, I've realized while I'm naturally a networker, I wasn't playing to that while studying EE. In fact I was studying to be an opposite of that and that's part of what made me miserable. The other part was that I was working the degree for money and while I could definitely have a career that had a relatively high ROI for a bachelor's, it didn't occur to me that money doesn't make one happy. I never listened to that advice before.

But a funny thing happens when you have time to think about why you're doing things and why you're doing what you're doing. I found out that if I was truly to be happy then I'd probably need to be that networker/matchmaker and help people out in a way that was meaningful for them - hence the reason I got my Masters relating to HR.

All I'm saying, is that I've been there, and if my advice can give you any sort of help to you or anyone else reading this, than I'm glad I posted.

I know, but I will have one. Well, I probably won't, but I can't help but hope for it. I'd say my odds are about 60/40 against me.

Also, to try to keep insurance down to just above unreasonable, I'm going to see about having my mom's name on the title instead of mine.
