hehe, thought this was funny, so i'm sharing.

this old blue hair chief (chief master sargeant) had an issue at our gate, and ended up saying one of my patrolmen was "out to get him). anyways, the last time i talked to him, he's saying he wanted to go to the commissary to pick stuff up for a picnic or something, and because he had to wait in line 45 minutes, he was too late to go. (he changed the times from 15 to 25 to finally 45 minutes).
anyways, he threatened to boycott the commisarry and exchange because of the "treatment" he'd recieved from us (cops)... so i told him he probably should. i explained that walmart was a hell of a lot cheaper, and that AAFES and DeCA must be running some kind of racket, charging the prices they are here. i guess i caught him off guard, because he didn't know what to say, other than, "*pause*, um... ok." then he left.

haven't seen him since. not all that funny in type, but funny in person, i guess.

ok, so it's been a while, so i figured i'd start off my current return by stating a fact that will probably piss of becca, and all the other homeslices in Austin...

      LONE STAR BEER SUCKS!!!!!

i'm not trying to be pretentious, but, once i was older than 22, and no longer looking for a cheap, crappy beer (PBR, Pearl, keystone, etc) to just get lit on, i graduated to more refined beverages. if i'm going to sit and nurse just one, i'll go with a young's oatmeal stout. if they don't have that, i'll go guinness. for a slightly longer, multi-beer episode it's Warsteiner all the way. if that's not avaliable, then bittburger is nice. although, i must admit, the chances of finding bittburger at a place you wouldn't find Warsteiner is... let's say slim.

anyways, i bought a sixer of LS yesterday, and didn't build up the courage to taste is until just now... man, it sucks. like, in a big way.

between work and home, i sometimes go a few days or a week between logins... so if your message etc sits a few days or so, don't be offended. i sometimes simply have no time to get on the boards. i know i'm in super-high demand, so people will have to wait in line a bit every now and then. sorry for the inconvenience, and have a nice day!

well, my cable was out for a few days, there... but, it's paid now, so i'm doin' allright. what's that? oh, no... i have the money, doing fine there. nope, i'm just a dumb-ass, and forgot to pay it two months in a row. but now, all is well.

trying to think of anything else that's new... bought half-life2. i had updated the laptop since i got back from the desert, and HL2 didn't run for crap. i rolled the system back to the day i left Kuwait, so we'll see how the game runs after it's done installing.

    • OMG, NOT A FREEZE WARNING!!!

      bdhutier

they have just issued a warning that it just might freeze overnight here in south texas in december!! brings me back to my time spent in God's country (AKA. north dakota), this time of year. i loved spending time on the gate checking ID's to give my Airmen some time in the heated gate shack... i can see it now...

*setting: -30F, covered in a winter-wonderland of snow, entire area covered in 1-2 inches of ice, been on shift almost four hours already...

*LT steps up to the vehicle, driver jamming ID card through the .0000005 microns of space individual opened the window to...
*LT makes vigourous circular hand gestures, clearly indicating to individual LT is frustrated and requiring them to roll the window all the way down...
*LT greets individual saying through a frozen face, "how are you?" individual does not respond, just sits looking frustrated at having to wait 5-10 minutes in a heated vehicle...
*LT checks ID, tells individual to have a nice day...
*as individual rolls up window, individual instructs LT, "stay warm!"
*LT thinks, "wouldn't i have to be warm to begin with, in order to stay warm?"
*LT thinks of the heated office the individual is going to spend the next seven hours in, trying to convince the rest of the world what they want done is a crisis...
*LT growls, and attempts to remove his ASP baton to beat individual with, but soon realizes it is frozen into the carrier on his belt, not that his hands are working anyway.
*LT sighs, and waves the next vehice up... process repeats.

freeze warning... better bring in the tomatoes... *rolls eyes*

and back to work. we got a new car yesterday, pretty good deal. i'm proud i got a good deal, so i'll talk about it!

ok it's a red metallic, 2003 tree-huggers' nightmare (ford excursion). 17k miles, sold last november, so it still has 4 years and about 50-55k miles of warranty left. it sold for 38k, is worth 27k, and i bought it for 21k. i sold the kia, and once i get the caravan up here, i'll be selling that too. once that's gone, i'll go buy myself a K5 or K10 blazer. YAY!!

    • MORE BOREDOM!!!

1.5 hours until my relief gets here... you know, i should have gone into comm or something. at least then, i'd know all day, my job was going to be boring the whole time.

see, as a cop, i come in every night dreaming about the domestic, DUI, drug bust or fight at the club i may get to go and throw people around at. but usually, i have nights like tonight. the most exciting thing that happened to me tonight was when i ran and got "off-base distro" from Arby's for the flight. oh, and it rained like hell for the first two hours of shift, and we closed off the flooded roads to the duck-ponds. exciting.

oh well, we all went home safely...

this will be my first go at this journal thingy... not really sure what to write.
i just got off of work. another 13.5 hours wasted, hoping someone will do something stupid so i'll have something to do, and then talk about for the rest of the night. no such luck, though. i just spent the time researching my impending paintball purchase. yes, it's true... i'm soon graduating into the ranks of paintballers who own thier own equipment!
well, now that i've eaten, i guess i'll head off to bed... sorry i'm so boring!

good luck with becoming a Comm Officer. currently, they're at roughly 2000% strength in CGO's. no, i'm not kidding. there are other AFSC's that look good. overall, i like being a cop. most of the complaints you hear are from ppl on their first assignment and enlistment.

Do you like being in SF? When i was tech school, a majority of the people cross-training were training out of SF. Havnt met many of them that enjoy thier job. Any tips for a new A1C that wants to become a Comm Officer? I have 5 years left on my 6 year enlistment and i plan on applying for OTC in 4 years. Now i just gotta finish my degree in Computer Engineering.

Eh, better you than me. I'd snap if I had the shitty hours Security Forces have. However, I would go EST. But, I work for some pricks who gave me an LoR for "not wearing my Lightbelt walking between my car and the MSA." In the morning. When the sun was out. So much for EST. :D
