      bellison Son of a bi-

I noticed that I didn't really ever make an introductory post so here goes.

I'm Allison, I'm 18 years old, and I'm currently a college student studying film production.

Games have been in my life ever since I could remember. Playing the demo cd that came with our PS1 (demo cd 10, to be specific) I played the one level of the first Spyro the Dragon and Cool Boarders 3 like nobody's business, as well as watching my dad play every and any war game he could get his hands on. (he still plays them. I just bought him COD: Ghosts for his birthday and the excitement on his face was priceless) I even played the various games my dad had for our extremely old pc. Joystick add-on and all. And of course, the Sims games.

I played many games on the PS2 we got shortly after, but I was still young, and my parents would mostly buy me crappy movie tie-in games. I still have the unopened Shrek 2 game sitting in my room somewhere. I played my dad's COD games and my sister's Tony Hawk Underground 2, and of course, Guitar Hero, since the phase was in full effect.

My dad upgraded to a PS3 when it first came out. The huge, fat ones with the Spider-Man font. (I don't know if it's really the Raimi Spider-Man font but it looks so much like it [edit: apparently it is]) He had a few games for it, which were, of course, all military-themed. But at this time, life was happening, and I didn't really pay much attention to it. I was bullied through middleschool, and I really didn't have the energy to even try to play it. Years later, he got Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on release day and eventually asked me to play it with him. We played zombies forever, and the next day he came home from work to see me playing the story. I finished that game in 3 days, give or take. (between school and babysitting at the time) I loved the storyline, the gameplay, everything. Say what you want about the Call of Duty games, MW2 had an excellent story. I played a few games, here and there, still not fully into the world of gaming yet. I played Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Black Ops, some of the older Call of Dutys, Uncharted, and many others such as that crappy Thor game that I got in the 5 dollar bin at Best Buy. I didn't have much time for games, but I played when I could.

I saw a few posts on tumblr about Assassin's Creed, and I started playing those as well. I think those games were the ones to finally get me into the world of gaming. The storylines really drew me in, and I really love sandbox and stealth games. I know they probably aren't the best, and there are far more better than the Assassin's Creed series, but they'll always be my favorites.

During this time in school, I was in my television production program. You know, the news shows some schools put on in the morning on the tvs run by students. Most are crappy, and ours was pretty crappy too, but it also won a lot of awards, and was also named the best in the country a few years. It was great to be a part of it, because, while I'd always been extremely interested in film production, this really taught me a lot of things I didn't know. I went to Dallas, Texas for a television production competition with the program during my Junior year. Not everyone went, and I got chosen out of probably around 30 or so members. The next year, we went to Los Angeles, California and I was chosen out of a smaller number of around 20. It was such an honor to be a part of it and to learn from so many people. The one in Los Angeles featured workshops by some film directors (whose names have escaped me. It's been a while) and people "in the business". I never felt more certain about what I wanted to do in my life until then.

Then, in May, only days after my 18th birthday, I took an Apple certification test for Final Cut Pro X (which completely sucks by the way. I learned everything I know on 7, and we were forced, out of contract, to use 10.) and I passed. So I am 18 years old and Apple certified in Final Cut Pro, which is such a huge milestone for me. I went from making shitty slideshows on Windows Movie Maker, to making shitty sims machinima in middle school with Sony Vegas Pro, and now with certification in Final Cut Pro. I don't currently have a Mac to use it, but it will be good on resumes and hopefully save me a lot of money on courses in the future.

I started applying to schools and got into several in New York City, which I'd always loved and dreamed of living in. So here I am, studying film production in the greatest city on earth.

I'd been watching RT videos for years now, going in and out. However, I never really realized that these videos I'd been watching for years were the same production company. I had no idea that the funny Halo series my friend showed me and the Strangerhood and other various RT videos I enjoyed over my earlier years were by the same people until much later. I've been following them more closely for a long time now, with Let's Plays and Versus and Animated Adventures and Podcasts, and I decided to make an account on here and become a sponsor. Why? Because, after moving to NY, after being forced to be independent for the first time in my life in a city I barely knew, I kind of lost myself for a while. I forgot why I loved video production. I hadn't opened an editing program in months. But Rooster Teeth has inspired me to start it up again. Their passion and commitment to what they do opened my eyes a bit.

So I search for video capture cards and gaming computers and microphones to hopefully upload my very own community videos. This will require money I currently don't have, but I'll get there, in time.

If you've read this until the very end, then I applaud your persistence. I apologize for my boring life story.

Now I go to (finally) finish The Last of Us...

      Until next time,
      Allison.
