Hey guys! It's only been *checks calendar* five years...
After seeing Gavin's twitter post about the 15th anniversary of his RT account I thought I'd check back on mine since I vaguely remembered that my own 10th anniversary was coming. My first reaction: good god were my first couple of posts super cringey, but then again so are most people when they're 13. I'm a 23 year-old recent college grad now and I still can't believe I've been on this site for this long. I remember making this account so I could watch episodes of Red vs Blue: Reconstruction early right after middle school soccer practice. I recall been so in awe about all these new strange people I was interacting with and who liked the same stuff I did(remember this was in the early days of modern social media)! You can see that amazement and my uncertainty about what I was supposed to do on here in my early posts(still thanks for being my first friend benjy! Man that old post is both cute and sad at the same time lol).
I still makes me kind of sad to see that many of the groups I was in and the people that used to comment on my posts have gone silent over the years(not that I'm one to talk) but that's just a part of growing up I guess. People change, get new hobbies, slowly ease themselves out fandoms etc. While the community on this site I remember from my younger years has long since died, I'm glad I got to see it while it lasted. While I know most of those people that talked with that awkward young teenage me have long since left, their dead accounts and unchanged profile pictures serving as virtual tombstones in my friends box, on the off chance there's still some grizzled survivors I'd just like to say one thing: thanks. Thanks for tolerating my naive annoyingness and most of all thanks for the memories.
This isn't a farewell post since I'll likely continue to lurk on here occasionally but I just wanted to finally post something on here after 5 years.
I'll plug my old deviant art one last time for tradition's sake before signing off : caman213.deviantart.com/
