May 21st, 2314, 0200 hours, on board the Assault Carrier Shade of the Tempest, 30 miles off shore of Normanedy Prance.

Calm. There's always a calm before a massive assault, where there's a chill in the air, and the blood in your veins go cold. That feeling of uncertainty, that you and your squad won't make it till sunrise. Shimmer Aegis had felt this numerous times, over his career in the Black Hand. Especially during the Defense of Trottingham. Looking down at his cybernetic arm, he could feel the metallic plates move, as he gripped his GSM-40, staring out at the entrenched imperialists. The Jumpers had already gone in, and smoke could be seen billowing from the garrisoned town, he begun to utter a small poem. "Arise, children of the Homeland, The day of glory has arrived! Against us, tyranny. Bloody banner is risen. Bloody banner is risen. Do you hear in the countryside, These ferocious soldiers howling? They are coming into our arms! To cut the throats of our sons, our wives!" He recited, growing in volume with each verse. "To arms, citizens! Form your battalions! Let us walk, let us walk! May an impure blood Water our furrows! To arms, citizens! Let us form our battalions! Let us walk, let us walk! May an impure blood Water our furrows!" He practically sang.

"I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an emperor. That's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone, if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness '” not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another.
In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.
The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood, for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world '” millions of despairing men, women and little children '” victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me, I say '” do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed '” the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people and so long as men die, liberty will never perish.
Soldiers! Don't give yourselves to brutes '” men who despise you '” enslave you '” who regiment your lives '” tell you what to do '” what to think or what to feel! Who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men '” machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don't hate! Only the unloved hate '” the unloved and the unnatural!
Soldiers! Don't fight for slavery! Fight for liberty! In the 17th Chapter of St. Luke it is written: "the Kingdom of God is within man" '” not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people have the power '” the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.
Then, in the name of democracy, let us use that power! Let us all unite! Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give youth the future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie! They do not fulfill their promise; they never will. Dictators free themselves, but they enslave the people! Now, let us fight to fulfill that promise! Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness.
Soldiers! In the name of democracy, let us all unite!"

The Black Hand is made up of several Infantry Divisions.

Mobile Infantry: Standard soldier in the black hand.

First Recon: Elite Snipers that are the first to map out and scout ahead of the group.

Head Hunters: Made up of two man teams, they infiltrate deep into enemy territory and pick of high value targets.

Berserkers: Masters of melee, these soldiers charge into combat, ready to come to grips with their foes. Extremely feared, and pissed off.

Airborne: Also known as Jumpers, These soldiers drop in behind the enemy and destroy High value targets

Rangers: Highly trained soldiers, they are jacks of all trades. Their purpose is not to only destroy their enemy, but to train rebels, and strike fear into the opposition's own.

Elite Cadre: Commonly known as Harbingers, This Elite group are made up of veterans with a unique mental disorder called Minus Obnixi (Translation: Non Flinching). They lack the ability to feel remorse, and are efficient killers. Very few know of this group. Even fewer can join. (Request only)

Crusader: Very few in number, these Soldiers of the Black Hand are the most deadly and elite. The presence of a Crusader on the battlefield not only inspires allies, but strikes fear into the heart of their enemies. Seeing one means that the battle has already been won, as these veterans lay waste to everything. Clad in advanced yet archaic looking armor, they are the pinnacle of Black Hand might.

Hybrida: Taken at a young age of three to five, human children go through rigorous genetic rewrite and combat training. The Process is agonizing to the subjects undergoing the rewrite, as their whole skeletal system is being rebuilt by the mutation.

Due to the genetic rewrite from being inject numerous times with a human engineered Retrovirus made up of Celestian DNA and RNA, they became extremely intelligent and adaptive to environments, and can access and adapt Celestian tech to their own use.

Not all Hybrida are created artificially, as quite a few mate and bring into the world what are called "True Hybrida" by their peers and scientists.

Their eyes take on a silvery look, taking up the iris and pupil. They tend to grow a head taller than the average human, and their legs become bowed at the shins. Their canines become fanged, and their skin get a scaly like feature.

Hybrida have only one blood type, and can not have human blood infused with theirs. They can only accept blood from their own due to the rewrite and mutation. Their cells develop a nucleus, much like most of Earth's avian species. Their blood is also blue instead of the usual red, also a factor of the mutation/rewrite.

Although, being artificially created, they still have the ability to reproduce, allowing them to have true Hybrida. Mating is the same as humans, except it's more of a sacred manner to them. There is no casual sex. When they mate, it's for life, and is a trust matter. Now mates can still have sex for pleasure, but never with others, unless consented by their mate. it's a more emotional connection than a physical.

Hybrida are also able to mate with humans making their offspring stronger. The father's antibodies and traits are passed on. Although the offspring has both human and hybrida traits, they are known to be called "Halfbreeds" or "Psudo-hybrida"

As for the Muscular system, they are considered weaker than the average soldier, but make up for it in agility, Adaptability, and endurance.

Because of their genes being rewritten, they are considered their own race, and relationships between humans and Hybrida are considered taboo. The thought of loving a being that resembles a threat to humanity tends to be daunting.

Hybrida are very emotional, and tend become attached to their loved ones and friends. They also show an Undying loyalty to their friends and loved ones, and are willing to jump on a grenade if ordered to by one they trust. When a Hybrida sees a loved one being threatened or attacked, they go into a rage that tends to be fatal to the attacker.

Hybrida form tight nit groups called Prides that can consist of humans and their own. Prides tend to range from 5-12 members. Now most Prides tend to be made up of Hybrida, but well trusted and loved humans can join their ranks, though it is rare, due to being isolated from public cliques.

Culturally, the Hybrida are well respected, even though they are avoided out of fear and lack of understanding. Hybrida also speak two languages, English and Latin. But what sets them apart, is how most speak in an archaic form of English around humans, while amongst their own, they speak latin to keep conversations private and confuse the hell out of humans that don't speak the near dead language.

Hybrida have been known to be vengeful towards those who betray their trust and loyalty, to the point where they will hunt you down, no matter how far across the galaxy you are, and strangle you. If a member of the Pride has been betrayed, the whole pride takes part in the hunt, and by law are allowed to kill traitors.
Ex: A human general that is a part of a Pride betrays a member (Brother or sister), then the whole pride is allowed to kill him, no matter the rank.

Those who betray their mate, have signed a death warrant. The Hybrida will go into a blind rage and hunt down the traitor, killing any who get in their path. That is when a Hybrida is most dangerous, for the only way to stop them is to either let them kill their ex, or several bullets to the head. The Former is usually the preferred choice , cause shooting them only makes matters worse.

Hybrida that are not born within a Pride are usually called untouchables, Prideless, and Misborns. They are typically avoided by others, and very few get to join Prides, unless in military service, where they form their own most of the time, but there are still outcasts among the ranks. They are looked down upon by others of their species, and 25% commit suicide at the age of 15.

Those that don't kill themselves, tend to have stronger bonds of friendship and loyalty when they are accepted into a Pride or create one. This comes to an advantage on the battlefield, as seeing their loved ones and friends under attack cause them to fight harder and not break moral. Most of the time they become commando units in the armed forces if they are an effective group as well.
      (Not Playable)

Psudohybrida: The taboo offspring of a human and True Hybrida. Although rare due to social views, They are some of the more beautiful of the two races.

Psudohybrida, commonly known as half-breeds, take on both their parents traits. They're typically a couple of inches shorter than the average Hybrida, and are stronger due to their human genes. Like their hybrida parent, they share the same features but the eyes; while Hybrida have no visible pupils, Half-breeds do due to their human genes. due to being half human, they are not as adaptable as their Hybrida parent

Depending on their upbringing, Very similar to the typical hybrida/human

    • Chapter one: Emerald Falls

in Forums > Chapter one: Emerald Falls | Follow this topic

The year is 12090 A.D. Over ten thousand years ago, the world burned as the great nations warred amongst each other, raining nuclear fire and black magic from the heavens. Experiments designed to defend and crush the enemies of the once proud, and now forgotten nation of the United States roam the lands. Creatures believed to be myth, or legend rule the land, as humanity tries to keep a firm handhold on existence. How this all came to be, has been forgotten, lost in the sands of time. Ancient monoliths of this once great nation are all that remain along with the husks of their mighty cities. What technology is left, few understand it. Even fewer can replicate. And so little can advance it.

The once seemingly peaceful world is now extinct, replaced now by one that is hostile. The plants have animated, and have grown fond of flesh. Many of the worlds animals have evolved into predators that the mere mention of their names cause even the bravest of souls to shutter in fear. But what causes all that lives to fear most, is an enemy from ancient times; who rules the night, and sustains itself on the blood of mortals.

In the small village of Emerald falls, it's inhabitants are now plagued by the monsters that seek to destroy them. Tucked away on the eastern coast of what was once Virginia, surrounded by beautiful waterfalls hundreds of feet high, the people there try to live as comfortable a life they can make. Many of the original inhabitants founded the village, because of the natural hot springs that form from the pools of the falls, and the rich deposits of emeralds deep within the rocks.

Outside of this peaceful village a lone black figure slowly makes his way towards the small community. Many of the villigers notice the stranger, clad in a black cloak, his face hidden behind a mask made of pure silver, tarnished over an unknown number of years. Some of them immediately recognize him as a hunter, while others back away in fear of the stranger.

Vampires: They come in various forms, such as the pure blooded Nobles who rule over them, as well as describing humans who are transformed into an inferior form of zombie vampire by the bite of a noble. Some nobles such as Magnus Lee have insinuated that they can turn humans into nobility as well (even a mutant, as it was promised to Rei-Ginsei) thus bestowing them with immortality.
Vampires are at the top of the list when being hunted by Hunters.
Many vampires enjoy intercourse with humans and procreate with them, creating Dhampirs as a result.
Vampires feed upon the blood of humans and with age and experience, gain increased strength and a variety of psychic powers, which may include telekinesis, a protective force field, flight, even the ability to survive death as a ghost.
The Nobility was formed by Vampires after the nuclear holocaust in 2032 A.D.
Roughly 1000 years after the holocaust (around 3000 A.D.), humanity had not yet begun to recover. Rather, they had regressed into a savage state of survival and susbsistence. It was at this time that the Vampires appeared, and took control of the chaos, setting themselves up as rulers, establishing what would come to be the Nobility. They subjugated the surviving humans, and reigned unopposed for the next thousand years.
During their rule, they created an age of "super-science", where they unlocked almost every secret of the universe that had eluded mankind's attempts. Some example include space travel, manipulation of space/time, cybernetics (including sophisticated artificial intelligence), complete control over the weather, advanced defense and weapon systems, and practically recreating the entire world eco-system with genetically engineered creations. Many of these creations were "mythical" creatures to which the vampires felt akin.
Despite all their acheivements, however, the Nobility began to experience a rapid decline in their society in about 4000 A.D. From their constant struggle with humanity and the magnitude of their own immortality, their own dark curse, their numbers dwindled to only a fraction. Even the greatest of their "super science" was unable to stop the inevitable death of their society. It was at this time that the humans took their oppertunity and rebelled against their enslavers. Mankind managed to take the Vampire Capital, for the most part driving out or killing the remaining Nobles. Now, in the year 12,090 AD, there is but a handfull of surviving Nobles still living in the Frontier, but due to the activity of Vampire Hunters, their time is cut even shorter.
Each Noble is in control of a given area on the frontier, referenced as "Sectors." The Vampires, however, are not loathe to strike at other sectors to try to gain more land. They also had a hierachical society, with all lower nobles serving 1000 greater Nobles, 7 Kings and with Dracula at its peak.
The Nobilitys strengths and weaknesses typicaly follow traditional Vampire lore, such as super-human strength, enhanced senses, along with an aversion to sunlight, crosses, running water and garlic. However, due to the manipulation of humanity's psyche on the mass level, ordinary people do not have the ability to remember these weakness ( save sunlight). Indeed, Dr. Ferringo remembered garlic powder being a weakness against Count Magnus Lee, but forgot all about it almost immediately after using it.

Sandmantas: Giant Mantarays that live under the sands of the great desert, and within the Ashlands (Ashmanta). Carnivorous, they eat about anything that is smaller than them, and can be seen flying over the wastes to ambush prey. Nearly impossible to kill due to their extremely tough hides and enormous size. their young starting out th size of a full sized semi-truck.

Werewolf: A werewolf is a special breed of monster, a supernatural creature much like vampires. Hostile to all but their pack and Vampire masters, and have been called the Guard dogs of the undead. Although shaped like a man, what's left of their humanity has been long since abandoned. Very agile, and strong, they make for a formidable foe, and can only be killed by silver, or mercury infused rounds. Packs tend to range from 5 to 20 wolves, and are efficient hunters.

Harpies: An creature that is part woman and part avian (Bird). Mostly residing in rocky mountains and canyons, these feinds have been known to kidnap men, and forcably steal their seed, after which will kill them and feast on their remains, using their bones and some skin to make their nests. Not overly intelligent, they can be fended off with a well maintained rifle and plenty of ammo. Very few are friendly, but those that are, are very protective of their allies.

Loup Garou: As beast-like The Lycans are, their counter parts the Loup Garou are pure monsters with all the abilities of the lycans except they are much much faster While lycans are based on strength and endurance the loup garou are based on strength and speed They live in family systems. Each family tends to stick together and murder as a group similar to that of the lycans packs but they operate in a smaller more close group. The Loup garou are twisted souls who enjoy causing pain to others they bond by killing and torturing other creatures. Strangely they are technically linked to the lycans as if they were the same species The Hellion of the Lycans is linked to these killers just as strongly as he is to his own people unfortunately this is more of a draw back than an advantage.
