    • Looking for Suggestions: Minecraft Server Hosting Service

in Forums > Looking for Suggestions: Minecraft Server Hosting Service | Follow this topic

Hello there, community! My husband and I want to "gift" a Minecraft server to our friend but we need suggestions as for which service to use. We already use a free service to play together but we can only play when our friend opens it up since his computer is basically the 'host server'. I don't know what service he uses so I can't answer questions about how that works, unfortunately.

It would just be for the three of us and occasionally a handful of friends. We're currently on a Galacticraft kick so we need a service that hosts modded servers. We want to pay for a full year of hosting and after that the three of us will figure it out. If you use a service like this please let me know what you think of it and if you would recommend it to others. If you need to know anything else just ask. Links would be greatly appreciated!

So Day 2 of my marathon did not go well. I accidentally changed some settings and didn't realize it so I thought I was having issues with my audio. I didn't figure out what I had done until this past Saturday, and I spent the weekend at my boyfriend's house so I didn't get the chance to stream. Going forward I now know how my audio settings work and I also have some fun notifications set up! The weather reports for my area are saying snow this weekend, and if that's the case I'm just not gonna leave my house. I don't like snow and I especially don't like cold weather. I would much rather stay indoors, stream some games and clean up my room a bit.

In other news I'm doing some research into computer parts because I'm going to be building a computer for the first time very soon! I have several friends who have built computers recently as well as a wealth of information at my fingertips thanks to the Internet, which is great because looking at all of these numbers is so confusing. I'm starting with picking a CPU but I feel like I'm reading foreign languages on these websites... Thankfully my laptop gets the job done for streaming so FOR NOW I'm in no rush, but I would like to buy everything by the end of February. I want a stylish case with some purple lights~

That's all I've got for now, hopefully I can set up for a stream during the week. I'm over halfway through January and no closer to beating the first game!!! Talk to you guys again soon!

Hey guys, I'm about to start setting up for another stream tonight, but first let me talk about last night's stream.

We had about an hour and a half of technical difficulties *cue polka music* and about 45 minutes of ACTUAL game play, but my god we actually started the first game. Honestly, the stream went better than I thought it would. I thought my computer was going to eat shit the minute I started streaming, or that my internet wouldn't be able to handle it, or that my cat would jump on my entertainment center and knock my TV over somehow... Basically I expected something to go wrong and something did, but I managed to recover from it and I learned quite a bit! I'm going to try and get those pop up notifications working and hopefully I can show them off tonight!

I expect to start streaming at 7:00 PM EST so some to my Twitch channel around then and enjoy the Assassin's Creed soundtrack before the games begin! I'll be showing a video about Extra Life before the stream again (eventually I'll add more to my library) and then we can continue Altair's adventures! Let's break some more legs!!!

Hey guys, today is the day! I've been up all morning cleaning my house and setting up my stream. I'm almost ready to begin, so head on over to my Twitch channel and chat with people! I should be ready by about 6:00 PM EST but I will tweet out the stream on my Twitter here when I'm about to begin! I'll be setting up my audio levels for a bit and then the games will begin! I've actually put some effort into the visuals for the stream so I'm excited to show it off!

Hey guys, I'm Amanda a.k.a. daisykid3 on the internet and I have a project I'd like to tell you about. In 2014 I first heard about Extra Life, an amazing charity that raises money for Children's Miracle Network hospitals all over the country. Jack and Caiti's work on the RT Extra Life stream, along with the work my friends in RTNY put into our own stream every year, has inspired me to try my hand at fundraising via the power of streaming!

Starting this Saturday January 9th I'm going to play through the Assassin's Creed series live on Twitch, hopefully beating Assassin's Creed Syndicate and raising $1,000 by the end of 2016. I don't have a stream schedule in mind as of yet but I'm going to try and play at least once a week, if not more. I might stream other games as well seeing as how I got a lot of new ones for Christmas, including Halo 5 Guardians, the Master Chief Collection, Fallout 4, The Shadow of Mordor and more!

Here's the full list of games that I'm going to try to beat by the end of the year:

      Assassin's Creed (PlayStation 3)

      Assassin's Creed 2 (PlayStation 3)

      Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (PlayStation 3)

      Assassin's Creed Revelations (PlayStation 3)

      Assassin's Creed 3 (PlayStation 3)

Assassin's Creed Liberation HD (PlayStation 3)

Assassin's Creed Black Flag (PlayStation 4)

      Assassin's Creed Rogue (PlayStation 3)

      Assassin's Creed Unity (PlayStation 4)

      Assassin's Creed Syndicate (PlayStation 4)

That's TEN GAMES in TWELVE MONTHS. That'd be some kind of record for me seeing as how I seem to have trouble beating ANY games. EVER. Now when I say I'm going to "beat" these games by the end of the year, I'm not talking about 100% completion; I'm going to play through the story of each game from Memory Sequence 1 to the credit roll. I haven't decided what to do about DLC yet, although I have some ideas.

The fun thing about this for me is that as much as I love these games, I've only actually played five and beaten only two of them. I haven't had the complete Assassin's Creed experience yet! Originally I wanted to start this marathon last summer, beating nine games before the release of Syndicate this past November, but I wasn't able to afford a capture device as I was saving all of my money for RTX. Fast forward to Christmas, Santa was very good to me this year; I got enough gift cards to buy a capture device just in time for the new year, as well as a copy of Rogue!

All of the pieces are present and it's time to start the game. Will you join me in my quest to become a Master Assassin and raise money #forthekids? I hope so, because I can't do this alone. I need the help of my amazing friends, family and the RT community in order to achieve my goal. So if you're reading this and you're interested in following along with my adventure, head over to twitch.tv/fakedaisykid3, follow me on twitch and make sure you opt in to be notified whenever I start streaming! If you just want to donate go to my Extra Life profile and spread word of my fundraising campaign!

Thank you very much for your time. <3

Hey guys! So I just realized that we can play the beta pretty much whenever we want to for now, which means we might have a good chance at running into each other online! We also now have the option to play with friends only which makes things easier as well. That being said, I made this thread so that when you're online you can let others know who may not have you added on Steam just yet. The more we play the game and test out new features, the more feedback we can provide as beta testers after all!

I'll start off the thread like this! My Steam name is daisykid3 and I'll be playing for a little while tonight (11/26). No Skype calls, just in-game chat please. I will accept friend requests if you want to join my session!

(How's that? Anyone else like this idea?)

    • Grimm Eclipse: PS4 Controller Assistance Required!

Hello there! I've been trying to get my PS4 controller connected to my computer in order to play the game a different way and I haven't been very successful. I've tried two separate YouTube tutorials which I'll link here, and neither of them have worked for me.

https://youtu.be/PWx7OpDTPXE I tried this one first and the buttons didn't work. In order to move up and down I had to press left and right on the D Pad, and to move left and right I had to use the left analog stick. When I was in the options menu, the sliders would move all the way to the left and I couldn't move them back.

https://youtu.be/9gMltAE6BQc I also tried this method, but this just did not work at all.

I'm okay with keeping my PS4 controller plugged in to play as long as it works. It's been very frustrating because in the HELP menu while you're playing it shows a PS4 controller with labels for the buttons, but I can't even get mine to work properly.

If anyone thinks they can help me out let me know if you need any other information about my setup. You can either PM me or reply here. I would appreciate any help I can get!

I don't know how but I'm well over a week behind on all of my YouTube subscriptions and over two weeks behind on my Crunchyroll anime, and with a new season starting I'm basically fucked.

I have to catch up on content while still going to work, keeping the house clean, making sure the pets stay alive, making sure I stay alive and sleeping. BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH.

AND I have a wedding on Friday right after work, and I have work the next morning which means waking up at 5AM. Fabulous.

I thought the last two weeks were difficult and I was out of the shit but I'm only like 2/3rds out of the shit that is October. My wallet can't wait for it to be Saturday...
