      Vegas Baby!!!

Well I just returned from 5 days in vegas, just as rich as I was before (well almost). I was there for the UFAF Convention so I spent most of my time in seminars. I never even stopped long enough in the casino to gamble (even if I wanted to). It was fun though. I got to see a lot of friends and meet new ones from other parts of our organization that I never get to travel to.

I also got to train with Master Aaron Norris (Grand Master Chuck Norris's brother). That seminar turned out to be surprisingly good. I thought that it would just be a very basic "Alright-now-you-can-say-to-trained-with-Chuck's-brother" type of seminar. No, I actually learned some things. Some very good things.

As stated before, I went to a lot of seminars ranging from how to be a better instructor to how to be better overall fighter. I learned so much, that I am still trying to digest it all even though I have been home now for just over a week.

We also had our yearly international tournament which I took 4th place in my division (doing much better than I thought that I would). My teacher took the Senior Men's Grand Championship and one of his other students took the Men's Grand Championship.

Overall, I would say that we had a good time and learned a lot. I can't wait to head back next year.

      Virginia Tech Shooting

For those who have been living under a rock there was a major shooting today at Virginia Tech. This really hit home with me because I am an engineering student at VT. The majority of my classes are in a building right next to Norris Hall (where the majority of the violence took place). It could have just as easily been me in a body bag today. That realization is very sobering.

I would like to ask everyone to pray for the victims and their families of the tragedy.

      We Are Marshall

I would like to take this moment to ask everybody to go see the We Are Marshall movie. This movie is about the tragedy that happened to the Marshall University football team in Huntington, WV (my hometown). It was and still is the worst sports tragedy to ever occur. The team was flying home from a game when their plane crashed killing everyone aboard. The movie is about how the city and the University recovered from such a devastating tragedy.

This story is legend in here in Huntington, and the fact that it is being told honestly means so much to us.

      A Eulogy for Edward Frazier

My grandfather passed away this thursday from sudden, massive cerebral hemorhage. He was a major part of our lives and will be greatly missed. If you were to look the face of the Earth, you would be hard pressed to find a better or more giving individual than my grandfather. Though he had little money to give, he gave of what he did have. During his life he donated over 10 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. Before his death, he had signed papers that made him an organ donor, and in according to his wishes his organs were donated to others who needed them more than he did. If there was someone who needed help, he would help them even at great inconvenience to himself. He was very dedicated to his church which he helped found and was a deacon at. If there ever was a man who you could say was a true Christian, it was him.

Those of you out there who pray, please pray for my family and I as we try to move on with our lives.

After being gone for about six weeks for my short summer vacation (which was short because of summer school), I am back!!! I pretty much couldn't get on the internet to check out RvB because I was not in my apartment and did not easy access to a computer. The down side is that I have start school tomorrow morning at 8:00 in the fucking morning. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/sarcasm].

      School Really Blows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, just when I thought that I was going to enjoy a summer off, I end up having to repeat a class that I took this semester. The grading policy in that class is incredibly demanding. This class has 3 final grades and if I get below a C- on any of them, I fail the whole class. Now because of this fucking grading policy, I am stuck retaking a class that I hate with a passion and has no real bearing on my degree, but it is still required.

Pain is Weakness Leaving the Body

Since summer is around the corner and I have been lazy all winter, I have started to push myself harder in my martial arts training to get myself fit again. The result? I pulled my right side lat muscle (the one that pulls your shoulder back and down) and it hurts like a bitch. Oh well as one of my favorite sayings goes "Pain is weakness leaving the body".

For me, this isn't about being politically correct. This is about respect. I really don't like political correctness because it squashes discussions that should be happening like this one regarding the mosque.

I wanted to compliment your posts on the mosque issue, and express my appreciation.

It's nice to have someone else posting who understands the politically incorrect truth of this matter. smiley9.gif

This health care abomination is not the same thing as Civil Rights. Most of the people in the nation wanted those Civil Rights bills passed.

Actually most Americans didn't like the civil rights act, especially in the south. But how is it an abomination? There is no public option or a Medicare buy in, nor is it a single payer system, so what's they deal. Do you think that the HMOs should be able to deny your coverage because of a "pre-exiting condition?" That will become illegal under this new bill.

However there is a large consensus of the American people who do not want this Health Care bill passed. They see our government belching red ink all over the place and the extreme level of spending this bill promises, and like people with common sense they are rejecting it.

Many Americans don't like the current bill for one of two reasons. Conservative don't like it because they think it does too much, and liberals don't like it because they think it doesn't do enough. You're also forgetting something, the fact that most Americans voted for Obama in 2008 who ran on a platform of healthcare reform.

As far as my knowledge of math goes, yes I know the dems still tremendously outnumber the republicans for now. However, what you fail to realize is the less obvious results of this election. If a republican can win in a HUGELY democratic state by campaigning on health care, what do you think that the blue dogs dems are going to do?

What you fail to realize is that Mass already has Healthcare so they don't care about a notional Healthcare system.

They may be dems, but they realize that their seat is not exactly a safe because they are from much more conservative states whose voting population absolutely hate this bill. They see this and therefore decide that they are going to be far more resistant to the hardline left wing agenda currently being pushed in the congress because they know that it could very well be their head on the chopping block next election.

      We'll see.
