      Hello, fellow RvBCA member!

It's June already (holy crap!), so we are gearing up for another Comic-con weekend meetup.

We are planning something along the lines of a bonfire, so EVERYONE can come, regardless of whether or not you were lucky enough to snag a Con badge before the website crashed for the 30th time. smiley0.gif

If you are interested in attending a RvB meetup in San Diego and meeting your lovely rooster teeth friends, come to the RvBCA group and check out the latest news!

Thanks and hopefully we'll see you in July!

I'm a hardcore landlubber (although, I did really enjoy surfing the few times I've tried it) so the thought of 400 laps makes me just want to take a nap.

    • islandkitty

Hell, you've only just now told me about it and I'm already wondering what the hell you were thinking. xD

    • islandkitty

It's extremely tedious, which makes it more difficult than running two miles in cross country. 8 laps around the same track is very boring, and you start to feel a bit like a hamster on a wheel because there's no real way to gauge your progress until the entire race has been run and you get your final time, whereas on a cross country course the scenery changes and you rarely cover the same ground twice.

I ran the 800 and the 1600, and the 3200 when I couldn't get out of it.

    • islandkitty

Ha, yeah. smiley1.gif I used to run cross country and track between seasons. I haven't played since my junior year of high school though. I miss it.

I know, right? I played soccer for 13 years, though. Safe to say that's the one ploy of my mom's that stuck.

    • islandkitty

I was very upset at the time, actually. I was quite good. My mom got me heavily involved in soccer to make up for it and after that I didn't really mind anymore. Haha.

Haha you're right. And it was me doing the event that fell through - after 3 years of training they told me I had to quit because I would be too tall for the sport.

After reading a synopsis of Breaking Dawn, I'm starting to think that I need to read it simply because I have to experience firsthand how bad it is.

    • islandkitty

Seriously though. I mean, I read all but the last one (by Breaking Dawn, I just couldn't stomach it anymore so I gave up) and I never even saw the first movie but the hype over it is absolutely insane, especially considering how many awesome books actually exist out there.

    • islandkitty

Ugh, I know right? Those books are so irritating.

Well, I mean, the eyes do a lot for a face. And with them covered with glasses, your face becomes more ambiguous. And naturally, it's easy to mistake you for Kevin Bacon, rofl. Which is awesome.

Really? Well then I'm definitely going to have to come up with a cooler name than "Grasshoppah".

SWEET! Can I start calling you Grasshoppah?

I always think it's more fun to ask the source. Googling can only take you so far... So you shouldn't feel silly.

Oh, that makes me so, so very jealous! I've still never gotten to go to Washington, but it sounds beautiful, and 60s is certainly perfect weather.
Hah, it is indeed the perfect paper to practice my BS skills! Although we're learning a lot about this stuff in my class, a lot of it is just philosophical extrapolations and discourse, so I can just get it all done with great ease. Much more fun to write than grant proposals and scholarly essays, haha.
Dude, I would have slapped the girl! That class sounds amazing, she's clearly insane. I haven't taken it yet, next semester I'm taking Cellular Basis of Disease though and I'm super excited. Disease and viruses are so damn fascinating though, a physiologist or biologist who complains about it is *clearly* insane, beyond the shadow of a doubt.
The weekend was good! Just hung out with a lot of friends, went around downtown, played some Fable II and Halo, and tried to get rid of the mental hangover all the nasty midterms gave me last week (I think I'm better now, though!). Now, I'm preparing to get done with my schoolyear and start my new research gig, so there is much to look forward to. :)
Hope you're having a great day!

State or DC? Either way, awesome. But especially if it's Washington state, Seattle is one of my likely destinations for grad school. It's cold here, too...freaking Colorado and its freaking snowstorms in freaking mid-April! But life is good otherwise, just awaiting the end of this semester and trying to write my essay on the cultural origins of the debate over intelligent design versus evolution. Definitely not a hard topic to write about, but I don't feel quite in an essay mood right now.

But yeah! Hope you're enjoying Washington, that sounds awesome :)
