    • RTX 2014

It has been forever since Ive done anything, community wise, but RTX has prompted me to make a journal post.

RTX 2014 was an amazing experience as it was my first Rooster Teeth experience and I will never forget it. I learned a lot about 'hurry up and wait' although half of the experience was meeting people who were waiting in line just as myself. In order to get a good placement among the throngs of people one needed to get a place in line about 2 hours for smaller panels and at least 4 for the most popular ( Achievement Hunter, RT Podcast etc...).

The city of Austin itself was amazing. From good food, to different tourist attractions, there was little time to remain idle during the four days I was there.

Within a week I have driven from North Carolina to Texas and back (total of 2700 miles). The time has gone by too fast. I had been planning this trip for months and now it is gone. It feels as though a small bit of post-RTX depression is sitting in as I sit here and type this entry. I cannot wait until next year when I plan for RTX 2015. I would love the opportunity to be a guardian as they seem to be a great group with the exception of a rare few that I encountered.

I suppose this is enough for now. I will now sleep for about 36 hours straight, for I am happily exhausted and need some more time to process the entirety of the event.

P.S. - If you do not know much about Greg Miller from season 2 of The Gauntlet, I recommend checking out his YouTube channel (GameOverGreggy). The dude is amazing and is really nice if you get the chance to meet him.

Hey, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving in the US and a great Thursday in the rest of the world. I have a lot to be thankful for in my life. I take a lot of things for granted but today was a day to reflect on those things and ponder where I would be without those people or things.

Sometimes school just kicks you while you are down, and its usually with your own foot.

    • Thoughts on the PS4

After playing the PS4 here is what I would have to say about it. The picture is gorgeous. The biggest difference being that they have found out how to make glass not look like foggy white panes. It is clear and particularly in Killzone able to reflect images which really made the surroundings pop. Getting to and from the home screen is instantaneous even in game and loading screens after initial download are near nonexistant (during normal storymodes). The downside to these downloads is that they are massive. COD:Ghost required 46gigs of space and Killzone was around 43gigs. This could potentially cause storage problems in the future of the 500gig hard drive.

The upgrades to the Dualshock 4 are also for the better. The left and rights sticks are a little stiffer than on previous Playstation controllers with a slight lip on each one around the edge. At least for me, these corrected my ability to shoot complete circles around an enemy before I get shot. On the other hand. That touch screen? That inconvenience is going to take some getting used to. It only did what I wanted it to about 2/3s of the time when I remembered it was there. Also, there is a spotlight on the back of the controller. Why does that need to be so bright? If I didn't know what that was and walked into a room that was completely dark except for those player indicators I would reach for the nearest weapon out of fear that aliens were here to abduct me. I guess you could say that I wish there a way to turn down the brightness if for nothing else, to save battery power. Other than that and a share button that calls up a screen in the middle of what you are doing, it is a clear improvement over the Dualshock 3.

Overall the Playstation 4 is a nice upgrade from its predecessor. Crisp picture, fast processing and technical upgrades I know nothing about have made me a fan of the new console. I am sure I will have gratuitous amounts of play time in the future.
