    • Hello, all!

      eggo

I guess I kinda dropped off the face of the earth for a while... I just felt like logging in today to see what was up.

What's been going on? Well, my husband and I bought a house 3.5 years ago, and I guess we've just been busy with that. He graduated college about 2 years ago, I think, and life is good! I'm still with the same employer (a university), but switched departments 3.5 years ago. I'm now a webmaster-type person! The official title is "Web Developer," and it took 2 years to get it changed (surprisingly, not a lot of red tape, but getting people in my office to remember to push the paperwork along).

So. Technically not a lot has changed in my life. I'm still gaming, that's for sure! Hooked (as always) on Guild Wars, dabbling in Minecraft on occasion (it makes me motion-sick), and drooling over the next Assassin's Creed (due in November).

What's up with you guys??? I am at work right now, and have a lot to do, but I'm going to try to be on more this week to catch up with some of my old friends.

      :o)

Take care, everyone!!! I hope you all are happy and well!!

      Check it!

Free until midnight Saturday (don't know what time zone). It will take about 30 minutes to watch. Well worth it. Apparently it was made during the writer's strike.

House! As of Feb. 5th, 2008. We own one! Been BUSYBUSYBUSY for three straight weeks.

There is no mortgage crisis in San Antonio... this market is HOT. Had a house slip from under our noses it's so hot. It was perfect, but this one's awesome, too.

Job's good; I need to get back to it.

You guys cross my mind a lot, and I always hope that ya'll are doing well!

    • That funny anime clip...

      eggo

Well, JoshDoubleM was right! The funny anime clip that I posted a few days ago is from the anime: Azumanga Daioh.

I informed Nando of this, and he immediately downloaded it. We've watched 2 episodes, and... all I can say is that the clip represents what we've seen so far as to atmosphere and funniness! You just have to watch it yourselves! It's an all-girl cast, and it's just downright hilarious. We feel as if we've watched 5 or 6 episodes instead of just 2.

Well, gotta run. I'm tired... what's new? Hope all is well with ya'll! I actually am catching up on your journals! Honest!!

I'm honestly not sure if I've ever posted about this site before, but I thought this was as good 'a time as any. www.postsecret.com

I view it every Sunday. I laugh. I cry. And I pray for every single postcard and those it involves or those in similar situations. I absolutely love the song that he (Frank, the one who started the project) put this to, so I had to include it as well ("Breathe Me" by Sia-- I think dyskrasia introduced me to it).

    • PS3

      eggo

      Forgot to mention...

      We own one, now. ^_^

Last Sunday was Nando's birthday, so we bought one. Well, not really. I mean, it was his birthday, but the reason we bought one was because: you know the models that are reduced? They are being phased out to make room for a new model with an 80GB harddrive. The phased-out models are the 20GB and the 60GB. (the 20 GB isn't worth the $$. The 60 GB is only $100, and it comes with all sorts of hookups [like HD] that the 20 doesn't... and since you can install an operating system on the PS3 [you read that right!], we'll need all those hookups! We're going to eventually use it as a media-center like our modded XBox is currently.)

Anyway, we really bought the PS3 because all of the new, 80GB models will have software that enables you to play PS2 and PS1 games instead of actual hardware. Hardware is more reliable; the software may malfunction, and they may need to do patches, etc.

      So. Now I can pre-order Assassin's Creed!

I'm excited about that game... prolly the only one for the PS3, though. heh...

anywho. Enough journals from me all of a sudden!

      Laters!
      ~ Stacy out

EDIT: the PS3 looks FREAKIN AMAZIZING on our big screen TV, at FULL resolution (1080p). Freakin bad a$$.

EDIT 2: We don't actually have the PS3 ontop of the TV... what I meant to say is that games, at full resolution, look bad a$$ when played on our TV. ^_^

This was an interesting piece of paper someone in my math class found lying on the floor in the hallway. I kind of see his point. What IS it about paper, anyway?

Safe for work, but extremely funny. People might look at you funny if you bust out laughing.

So far... I like the job. Although, not a whole lotta webmasterin' has been going on. I don't have full access to things, yet. But, all my coworkers are really nice (as is my boss), and I'm not freezing all the time! In my other building, it was constantly FRIGID. No one calls me, yet, either! *dances*

    • Featured User???

      eggo

Ok, so apparently I was Featured User on July 21st! Funny thing is, I have RvB come up in my homepage-type bookmarks every day so I can keep up with the comic and any news. I soooooo didnt' see myself on there! Oh, just noticed it was a Saturday, and I was in Houston, going to a dinosaur museum! We had visited NASA, Houston on Friday. It was fun. Never been to NASA, Houston; been to FL, though!

I have to give myself some slack about not noticing things lately.

As you may recall from my most recent posts, I've been unhappy with my job (note: the people [professors and coworker Andrea] are great). After my now former boss, Sherrie left our department, and our new boss, Cheryl, came on board (and all the drama regarding Sherrie's tough time of letting control of us go settled down), I applied for pretty much any computer-related job I could find within my university.

"Nutshell" of the happenings: I applied for 5 jobs within 4 months (that's a lot for me, esp. considering they're all at the same institution). Got a call from one about a month ago: had an interview on a Friday, thought they didn't like me, but ended up being offered the job! They couldn't even meet my current salary, so I had to turn down the job. $3,000 less a year is NOT something my financial situation right now will allow for, and I said that in the thank you note (of course thanking them for offering me the job, and wishing them luck in finding someone else).

The Monday after the first interview, but before they offered me the job, I got a call for another job that pays $10,000 more a year than I am currently making in the History Dept. as an Admin. I had 2 interviews, going as high as the Registrar himself (VP for Academic Affairs).

LONG story short, few days after I had been selected as one of the two to continue to the second interview, I was "anonymously" told that I was the only viable candidate. Went into the second interview knowing that they'd either hire me since I was needed so badly or wait until December to re-open the position since I didn't meet the qualifications that the Registrar himself had set. (one of those: you aren't as experienced as the person who had been there for 4 years before you was, at the time he left!)

I was offered the job! The one with the Registrar's Office! The one that pays $34,008 a year! Of COURSE I ACCEPTED... I'm scared s***less, but it is an awesome opportunity for me; it's definitely a career move. Oh, I'd basically be the webmaster of the Student Affairs sites! They have several sub-sites and such. There's much more to the job, and I'll need lots of training (for things that were "preferred" on the job description, mind you!), but I think I'm going to be in a good place. The lady who I believe will be my immediate supervisor is really nice, and looks after her workers. I have no fears that she and I will not get along.

I will be sharing a larger office with 3 people, not quite cubicles, but there are wall-separators so they don't have to stare at each other all day. They're going to get me a second monitor for my computer (something I don't need, but it will definitely come in handy!), but I requested more RAM and a Wacom pen tablet. If I'm expected to work with graphics, I'll need the pen tablet; I've used it for 2.5 years at the HIS Dept, but I've used it since 1999 at home! I'll need more RAM because right now it only has 512, running WIN XP, and trying to get Photoshop CS2 to run on it... SUCKS.

I start August 6th. I have very little idea of what exactly my job will entail, and that scares me... but, again, this is such an awesome opportunity for me. Forgot to mention that I had originally printed out the job description out for Nando, but he handed it back to me and said, "Why aren't you applying for this?" Then, after applying for it, knowing that I was qualified with what was in that description, the website told me that I wasn't and did not send my app on to the hiring dept. I called HR and asked why. They called back in 15 minutes saying that there was an error with the application, and that I could re apply! Everyone was given the chance, really. I was so releived! And go figure. I get the job!

Anyway, enough of that. Life is fine. Nando has a bit over a year before he gets his degree in software engineering (computer programmer).

Things are slow at work; I've finished most of what I need to do before I leave next Thursday... so I'm going to make a HUGE dent in my watched list, starting with people I didn't get around to last time.

      Laters, all.

I wrote and sent this email to my friends and family. Thought I'd share. Voting ends July 7, 2007!

Also, something must be wrong with me! I've actually been posting journals! Haven't been doing so well with catching up, though...... *looks extremely guilty* Summer classes started today. bleh. That means many student problems become my problems.

This is definitely not an easy choice. Seven just doesn't cut it. In my opinion, most of these have every right to be a "wonder of the world."

I don't know if you've voted, and you may (like most Americans) think that your vote doesn't count. But regardless of all that, I'd like to think that I am helping our future little ones grow up with a sense of curiosity for the mystery and reverence of these awesome demonstrations of Humankind--as I did the originals.

In voting, we can compare ourselves to the ancients who conjured up the first list, and think, "what is it, exactly, that makes _us_ so great?" Let's not think of all the bad things going on right now....... In another 2000+ years, those might lead another set of "Wonders."

I would try and look cute while saying "please!" and if that didn't work, I would fork over the dough. I don't like the plain klondike bars though. There was one that was out a few years ago that had crunchies that were not nuts or rice on the outside. Those were really yummy. It's been a while since I've had a klondike...

They opened the septic tank and took a look at how it drained, whilst running water through it. Lets say, there was gunk on the lids showing that it had backed up in the past and it seemed to be draining too slowly out of the second tank...urgh!

Sadly, unless it's the author making the illustrations, publishers prefer to pair illustrators and authors up themselves. Fortunately, I can do both, so I won't have to worry too much about being grouped with someone that has either a story I don't like, or a nasty, demanding disposition. It would be cool if I could hand pick the authors though. I know many people that would be willing to write stories for me.
