    • Geek Alert!!!!

      estmurdock

Ok I hope that some of the folks watching me are closet Geeks, because I think I might need some help.
I have been having a power supply issue lately and a friend from work told me that I'm under powered. I'm running an intel celeron D 2.3 with cd-rw, and a dvd-rw as well as a saphire x1650 video card with 512 mg of ram and at the moment 1hd but soon to be a 2nd in the system.
I have burnt up a fairly new 480 w power supply that did seem to run my system at the time. I thought that it might have been dust that caused it to over heat, but a friend said that I was also under powered and that I should get a larger one to replace it with. He even mentioned that I should get something in the neighborhood of 600 w. I found this hard to believe!!! I mean I am a Gammer but realy? I didnt think my system was that high powered.
Anyway if your a bit of a geek dont worry I wont tell anybody just give me your thoughts.
      Thanks in advance.

    • Birthday celebration

      estmurdock

      Hi everyone,
Thank you for all of your birthday wishes. I do appreciate them.
My family and I celebrated it in my favorite way... without a lot of fuss. Just nice and quiet. We went to a movie, with prices at the theater being what they are we dont do this often (we saw Taken and I highly recomend it). After which we went to dinner in a resurant (also something we dont do often). Then we did some shopping and off to home we go. all-in-all a very nice quiet evening with my family enjoying the evening and thats the best present I could ask for.
So Thank you again to all who wished me a good day it worked

    • A soldiers Christmas

      estmurdock

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..

To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

" So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

PLEASE, would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many
people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to all
service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities.
Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people
stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us.

    • The nightshift change

      estmurdock

O.K. most of my friends know that I'm a vampire of sorts (I've worked nights for the better part of the last 2o to 25 yrs) and most of the time I have prefered it that way.
Recently I have switched to day's in a job position I truly enjoy more. here is a short list of things that I had not counted on when I made my choice to do this.

Switching your body over to days from nights causes most of you biologicle systems to go into a sort of shock for instance eating habits need to be relearned, sleep patern's etc..

For those that have asked about my internet radio program time. Witha few exceptions I am on air from about 10pm to 1am most all nights at xfactor-radio.com there is a link on that page to a chat room come on in and say hi or request a song if I have it I'll play it.

family, and friends that you forgot you had start to call and say things like "oh my lord you realy are still alive!"

The worst of the new world that I have to learn about (or re-learn) is that if you have not had sun (for more than a short time while on the way to or from work) if you sit in the sun (I was told that you can tan) YOU WILL BURN!!! my lily white legs, back and stomach are now a very nice shade of coocked lobster..... who'd have thunk it, obviously not me!

    • Internet radio

      estmurdock

Well I got my computer all setup to with the software for my new hobby of being an on-air talent for internet radio, and to test it we hooked me up and I ran a few songs (couple of glitches while I got used to the software). My little test show ended up running about 2 and a half hours long and everybody in the chat room wanted me to stay!! I guess they liked my choice in tunes....hehe

Any way I just thought I'd share that with ya.
as soon as I get set up with a regular air shift I'll post it here. Then you can come on in, give me a listen chat bit in the chat room, or just say hi maybe request a song if I have it I'll play it (much better than old radio).
You can find the station at xfactor-radio.com

    • I know what your thinking

      estmurdock

      FINALLY A NEW POST!!!!
      lmao
Well there have been a few changes mostly at work. I have moved into a new dept. and scheduling has been kind of a pain (my schedule changes sometimes on a daily basis or worse 2 or 3 times a day) but things are starting to settle down.
I'm also getting set up with a new job sort of (it's not paid yet) I'm going "ON THE AIR" (web radio) we play pretty much what ever we want to but when I finally get set up proper you will be able to listen to me on a regular basis as "Regular Ray Robins" or "Triple R" (if not nature metamusol) the older americans will get that joke. So give us a listen and I'll post the times of my show soon. The station can be found at xfactor-radio.com

well thats about all for now more to come soon I promise.

    • Random Rant!!!!!

      estmurdock

OK Folks this realy is going to be on a rank so if you dont want to read it you dont need to, don't worry I wont feel bad I just have to put this down or I'll go nuts!!!!!

      Still reading? OK here gose.......

I've been having issues with my system (OK with a couple games on my system) and through the proccess of elimination I thought that it must a lack of RAM (for those non-techno geek's short term memory) I only have 1GB. So I check the store add's and find a price I can live with. I head out to some other stores taht I couldn't find add's for to check their prices (just incase).

I get to the first store and check out their shelves.... lo and behold they dont even have the product I'm looking for, co I ask the clerk walking around if maybe he has some in the back room or something nope but if you want we have this product here for this price... ok but thats not what I want and it wont even work in my system..... sure it will its backwards compatible! (I'm sorry DDR2 type RAM is not backwards compatible to DDR!!!!!!! In fact it wont even fit in the slot!!!!!). So off to the next store..... long story shortened a bit here... I finaly get to the store with the add I wont mention that it was BEST BUY). I look around for the product and cant seem to find the location ask a clerk and I'm told to check with the Techno geek desk... I walk over and a gentlman ask's if I've been helped I said no. He ask's what he can do to help me I said I need a 1GB stick of PC3200 RAM. He checks his stock and tells me its on sale I replied that I knew this and he brings over the pkg. I take 1 look at it and notice written in plain sight on it DDR PC2700...... hmmm sir can I have a 1GB stick of PC3200? that's it. A sir this is PC2700. It shouldn't be..... I said thats what it say's right here on the box. He picks up the box returns it to the shelf and looks around a bit and finaly replies I'm sorry I dont have any of that here sir. Damn it if they are going to sell stuff at least have the brains enough to know WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE SELLING!!!
      (sorry for the lang)
Now had I not known what I was doing I would have paid the money and gone home to install said RAM (RAM not being that difficult to install) and would be wondering why the heck my system was either not seeing it or not running at the opt. speed!!!!! Or they would have charged me a fee to install it for me and it still wouldn't have been right!!!!!

Sorry for the rant but THIS SHIT PISSES ME OFF TO NO END!!!!! (sorry for yelling)

Ok rant over before I realy get mad.

I ended up buying the RAM at another store for a price slightly higher price at another store but I got what I wanted.

So true! Taking away a teenagers gadgets and visiting rights is far more effective than any beating or spanking.
when she was little a spanking was the best way to go but all it does is make a teenager more rebellious. But I did have to smack her yesterday for back talking the wife.
Punishing is hard. If too soft they will not learn and if too hard or too often they will think they will get punished no matter what so lets do it anyway.
You have to find the middle ground somewhere.

Dirty Santa...Everybody brings a wrapped gift. You draw numbers and the first person picks a gift. The second person can pick a gift or take the first persons. The third can pick a gift or steal one of the others...A gift can only go through three people. After the third owner, it can't be stolen anymore the first person gets a final choice at the end of the game...There are many variations, but that's how we do it.
