Well, studio's gonna be a real bear.

I dont' mind working hard for someone who is reasonable and gives straight answers, but when your studio professor never gives you a straight answer (and says that he never will), talks for 3 hrs straight when you should be working on projects, and insists that you spend every waking hour in studio, one's desire to listen and like the said professor drops rapidly..

Studio's great, as long as my professor isn't there. .....

So if ya'll don't hear from me in a while, thats why... Oh joy....

On the plus side, the fixed the gas leak in my apt. and now I have a stove :-)

    • I live in a disaster Area..

      fireworkpete

Well the our Governor just declared my county a Disaster Area. One of the 3 bridges in my town over the Fox river is closed. The main bridge has water almost up to the bottom of the roadway. The river is over its banks in places and people are sand bagging. Other roads are flooded and we are supposed to get more rain. The current flow rate of the Fox river near my house is around 25,000 cubic feet of water per second...Thats alot of water. The creek out back is down to 1600 at my most recent check, its down about 400.

On the plus side, I managed to drive up safely with Genevieve and my family just got on the road from the airport with my brother and his Fiance'. Their flight was delayed around an hour or so (quell suprise.)

The creek should be interesting to see tomorrow. Anyway, I hope that you all are well. I'm trying this from my computer at my house (my comp is back from the shop now.) As far as I can tell they replaced the mother board and the graphics card. They replaced the Go5700 Nvidia card with an ATI X600, which is, as I read, slightly faster so you probably won't hear me complaining.

Anyway, I've got to restart my compy so I'll catch you all in a while. Ciao!

    • At School..

      fireworkpete

      Well, I'm at school now.

I've been working on some boards for studio. I have to go home this weekend so it s a bit of a crunch to try and get everything done (stuff is due Monday).

Weather has been quit warm down here but luckily the AC in my Apt. works just fine. My stove still doesn't work, and I've been trying to get a straight answer from the Apartment company and the gas company. We'll see what happens.

I leave for home this afternoon. We've been getting allot of rain at home. Allot as in 6 inches in the past week. The creek's normal flow rate is between 10 and 25 cubic feet of water per second. Its currently at almost 2000 cubic feet per second. (1960 to be exact). More rain expect. This might be an interesting trip home..

Anyway, I've got to get back to work. I dont' have internet access at my apt. which is why I've not been communicating. Ciao mes amigo's and amiga's

So I was going to take the pickup in today to have the a couple of things changed. We got quoted a price of about $100 on the phone and they said that they would have it done really quick. So I take it in.

Well I get there and the guy tells me that it will be $440. I point out that its a stick shift so I wouldn't need the AutoTrany flush, price goes down to $300. There were a number of things that they were saying needed to be done that aren't on the maintenance schedual..Oh and it would take 4 hrs. Needless to say, I left.

My mom calls up the guy who she talked to him and asks him whats going on and why the discrepancy? At first he's kind of defensive (I don't think he expected a woman to call back about a car. After a while, he tried to be placating that said that he'd call over there and make sure they were only going to do X things and that we could just bring it in. Mom called our local favorite mechanic and asked them how much..

We decided not to have the stuff done right now so I took it to Jiffy lube to have the oil changed (we use pure synthetic as it helps the engines last longer) and asked them to change the fuel and air-filter. They looked at their records and said that we'd changed the fuel filter about 12,000 miles ago and the air filter was clean. Saved about 80 bucks there..

Oh and I forgot to say that when I took the truck in I got the immediate feeling that the guy thought I didn't know the first thing about cars and was kind of condescending. If you're gonna rip me off, don't be condescending cause I'll react to that right away. I've got radar. :-p

So, we're going to dinner in a couple of minutes and I leave for school tomorrow afternoon. I might be posting some, but my comp is going in to be repaired so I'll be limited to what I can get my hands on. Talk to you all later.

      Ciao mes amigo's!

    • Did you know...

      Did you know that ..

...An American Express Centurion (also known as the "black card") is made out of titanium? No more snapping in your pocket eh? (it also requires a minimum of $250,000 of spending per year to get one)

...a jet aircraft will burn 10's of thousands of pounds of fuel to get from place to place? (all depending on size of course) and at about $1 per lb, the prices can really add up. A Boeing 777 for instance can hold up to 42,220 gallons. Thats a sum total of about $250,000 for a tank of gas. And I thought filling our suburban was expensive.

...Replacing the wheels on a 777 also costs about 3/4 of a million bucks. Another big "ouch"

...Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour

...An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. (I know some people like that.)

...Butterflies can taste with their feet. (Something I always wanted to know.)

...In San Salvador, drunk drivers can be punished by death before a firing squad. (maybe they should consider something similar here)

...Each year, there are more than 40,000 toilet related injuries in the United States.

...You are more likely to get attacked by a cow than a shark.

...I am going on vacation in the morning and won't be back for a week. Cheers!

Oh, so he was performing piano concertos? So there was an orchestra there too, right? He played BOTH the Tchaikovsky 1st Concerto and the Rachmaninoff 2nd Concerto? That's quite the program! He must be pretty old now too, so that makes it even more impressive.

And no, I haven't heard of the Piano Guild competition. There's tons of piano competitions out there.

Hmm....not sure what his signature pieces are.

I'd say that was pretty neat. I've heard a couple of his recordings and he plays very well. Its hard to believe that Cliburn, a Texan, actually went to the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War and won the Tchaikovsky piano competition. That's gotta say something.

Would you happen to know what the program was for the concert?

Yeah, that pretty much answered it, I was mainly just wondering what program you were rendering with, which you said was Blender.

Just wondering what you wanted to do with the cluster.

      Sounds cool though

Nice, I like your comment about the rendering cluster. What program/software would you use to make use of that render farm capability?

Sorry to spoil your fun, but he is actually doing the right thing. Those are Night vision Binoculars. There are tiny pinholes in the caps to allow light in so they can be used in the day time. If he actually took the caps off, and tried to turn them on, he would instantly destroy them.

There might still be hope for this planet yet.......thank you for being more intelligent than that idiot.
