So Obama desire's to reduce the amount of deductions that you can take for Charitable donations.

Someone please explain to me how this is "paying more of their fair share of taxes". Don't the top already pay the vast majority of taxes already?

Maybe someone can shed a different light on it for me.

SSo some one has the bright idea in our current administration that they need to cap executive salaries at any company that has some sort of government contract.

Interesting no? Let's chew this over for a bit.

What percentage of all income tax do the top 1% of the Us pay? 40%.

      The top 5%? 60%,

So here's a good question. As just about every company does business with some sort of business with the governement that's allot of Salary caps.

for 2007 the total federal income tax revenue generated was 2,674,007,818,000. Thats about 2.6 trillion dollars. So, if we loose around, oh, lets say 40% of that revenue. we are down to 1.6 trillion. How do they propose to make those lost revenues up?

Answer me that. And don't say Carbon caps. Carbon caps are a tax on everyone. It hits those who can't afford much the hardest. Its a regressive tax.

The best way, and this has been shown again and again and again in history, if you want to increase national productivity and the like, you decrease taxes, not increase them. Playing the classes against each other doesn't bode well for our country.

So, you're looking for something to throw a little extra cash into. Well ya might consider looking at some municipal bonds. They often currently earn between 6-9% interest.

The best part? What they earn is 100% tax free. Not bad in my opinion.

Anyhoo, I'm home on spring "break". I'm working on my thesis and building a stone wall in the yard.

    • Happy Belated New year..

      So I'm still alive.

I spent a sunny 2 weeks in Florida with my girlfriend and her dad. It twas very enjoyable. Long walks around his property through the gardens, good food, Christmas and New years. Me wanna go back.

The day we left chicago it got to a high of -2 and our plane had mechanical problems (the spoilers were deploying when they weren't supposed to, like when they were taxiing.) So we sat on the plan for an hour on the Tarmac. Next we pulled back to the gate and sat for another hour. Then they took us off the plane, gave us lunch vouchers and asked us to stick near the gate while they tried to fix it. (our flight was supposed to leave at 11:37 originally.) At about 2 pm they tell us that they are flying in Mechanics from Atlanta as well as some parts and best case senario we would get out of Chicago at 6 pm. Meanwhile we are on the phone with the airline and they tell us there are no empty seats to Miami for the next 4 days. Not good...

I remember that Southwest is across the concourse from us so I asked Genevieve to go over there and try to book tickets while I had my mom try to do it at home also. We managed to get tickets to West Palm at 5 pm. That flight took off a little late but we did make it to FL. There we rented a car and drove down to her dad's place (about and hour and 15 min drive). Got to bed at about 2 but we made it. :-)

Genevieve's dad gave me a bunch of cooking stuff and a bread machine for Christmas. Already tried it out, good bread.

I'm now back in Chicago working on my thesis stuff and helping to paint the new cabinets in the addition. We passed our final inspection on Friday. The new stoves are little blast furnaces. The main burners are 22,000 Btu's (there are 4 of those plus 4 other's, 2 15,000's and 2 7500's ). Me likey.

We have about 8 inches of snow on the ground here, supposed to get more tonight, around 3 to 5 inches.

My sister is getting married at the end of the month so I'll be coming back up for that (shocking eh?) I'm one of the groomsmen so I thought I'd be there.

Other than that, not much is going on, Oh, I did get a Ruger Mark III pistol from my parents for Christmas. They put it in a box that originally had Harry and David Pears in it so they fooled me.

Genevieve had asked for a granite mortar and pestle (as her last one had a run in with the Disposal that was kind of my fault.) Mom and dad got here one. However first we have her a bag with a granite rock, a mallet and a set of chisels and told her it was a "make your own mortar and pestle kit."

Yes, we are evil... The look on her face was just precious when I told her it was a joke. It was a "Oh..I'm soooo gonna get you for that" look. :-p

Any hoo, how are ya'll doing? Shoot me a line.

      Peter.

Hello there! Farnborough is quite nice actually, though it can be quite boring at times! There isn't much in the main centre, so lots of traveling to go somewhere fun! So how come you flew into the airport? The air shows there are really good, but noisy when the planes fly just over our house, though very cool to watch.

      Hey,

those are some pretty nice 3D images you go there. And yes, you got it, that pic was of me on top of le Arc D'Triomph. good eye. i was there for only one day though. my uncle lives in switzerland and i thought it would be a cool thing if i can walk around paris for a day. unfortunately that idea back fired at me since i had to spend the night at the train station because i missed my trip.

Oh, and as for my dream car, hehe, i already know about the vids on you tube. i live by them. there's also a good one on the Bugatti Veron breaking the 403 Km/hr record for a street legal car. that's just plain insanity.

      Very very interesting.

I figured it had to be some weird airflow thing. Otherwise, I dunno, that just seems kinda stupid. But then again, I don't fly planes and I don't know a whole lot about them so I shouldn't be one to talk. Of course, if you tried to tell people in some small village with wicker huts that you could build flying machines out of metal that weighed tons then they wouldn't believe you either.

All it says on the paper work for the fuel system tune up is:

      New wynns fuel service kit

Which cost $39.99, as to what it is I have no idea LOL My Dad said something about a fuel injection clean up so maybe that is what they mean.
