OoO. Oh my god! Greatest Christmas ever!(Minus that my family wasn't around much). I got some really awesome gifts, like a RvB laptop skin, Caboose messenger bag and laptop sleeve, along with a scanner and... a new digital camera!!!! O.O I'd not expected that! My uncle and aunt got it for me(and it's a Nikon Coolpix S220 if you're interested in knowing). The thing is pretty expensive too, best camera I've ever had. No wonder, the most expensive one I've ever had(I've gone through three now). I'm sure if anyone reads my journal regularly they know the last one fucking broke(stupid piece of crap).

      Edited pictures coming soon!

Anyway, great Christmas, what was your guys' like?

PS: I've decided with the, "I'm Totally, Completely Sane." Saga, I'm going to write all the novel things before editing(so I can be sure they're connected well).

“He put the lens cap on.†Simmons confirmed through his teeth.
      “Oh fuckberries.†Tucker said first.
“GRIF!!!†Sarge shouted with bloody murder. The fat man took off running at full speed and all but the freelancers followed. It was silent as their screams of rage faded away.
“Well, this was an eventful day.†Wash mumbled.
“You… wanna go get some more feathers?†Tex asked.
      “Oh yeah.†So they walked off.

      Happy Holidays from AgentTexas/Four_Winds!
And remember: always remove the lens cap before making a movie! And if you live with dumb asses, hide it. Seriously.

      One: Avoiding Annoying Roommates

Donut was knocking excitedly on Grif’s bedroom door; a huge grin plastered over his face like it was drawn there. It’d been ten minutes of just knocking, and it was really starting to annoy the lazy private. “Griiiiiiif!†Donut whined, only now getting a bit disappointed.
      “Don’t say a word…†Grif mumbled to himself. “It’ll just encourage him…â€Â
“Griiiiif!!! I made Fruitcake and cookies!†He’d heard that a million times before. Lie. What to say, what to say… it suddenly hit him and a light bulb practically popped up atop his head.
“I have the swine flue!†That abruptly got a girl scream and Donut ran off to get Sarge.
“Sarge! Grif has H1N1!†The Red sergeant got to his feet and got his shotgun off his desk.
“Donut! Execute plan 66!†Donut began running in a circle, screaming like a school girl as Sarge cocked his shotgun. “Simmons! Plan 66!†Simmons went pale hearing the order.
“Are you sure it’s that critical?†He asked; worry clouding his voice as he followed the red sergeant to Grif’s door.
“We’ve got an outbreak!†Simmons got his weapon out and they busted down Grif’s door. The orange private shuddered in response to the crash. “Simmons! You get the plastic wrap!†Grif gulped.
      “Plastic wrap?â€Â

      Two: Avoiding Family Members

Church was heading to the blue team fridge, when he overheard Sister and Tucker in the heat of a heavy discussion. It wasn’t like them to be talking instead of making out, so Church froze, hand on the door, leaning towards them to hear better. “That excuse will never work!†Tucker shouted in outrage.
“What about if I just tell my brother the truth?†She asked in her teenage light and casual voice.
“If you do, he’ll kill me.†Church decided to interject here. He strolled in, eyes on them.
      “What happened?â€Â
“Sister can’t go to Hawaii to visit her parents this Christmas.â€Â
“I got that part, but why?†Tucker and her exchanged glances.
“I have an abortion scheduled.†Church just flitted between them silently before backing away.

Silence was upon the soldiers for a minute or so as they processed what had just happened in both examples. “Those weren’t even really examples! Those were just clips taken from our blogs!†Church shouted in outrage, his face feeling tight from anger.
“I’m gonna kill him!†Grif shouted, running passed the camera. Tucker took off sprinting as Grif chased after him.
“Hey Grif! A 1.5 on the rector scale!†Simmons bantered loudly to his comrade’s back.
“Well, this went fantastic.†Church grumbled, looking away with shame and frustration.
“Were you expecting anything less?†Sarge asked and Church sighed in defeat.
      “No.â€Â
“Happy holidays reds! Hope you kill some blues on holiday vacation!†Church finally looked back up.
“Oh, fuck, we forgot the in-laws.†He whispered.
“I’ll take this one: don’t bother! If your in-laws are wolves-†Sarge started.
“Here, just do what I did back when me and Tex weren’t’ ripping each other’s throats out and instead, we were visiting our families and ripping their throats out. Tell them you’ve got plans or something, like a romantic dinner planned, or have to do something together. Or, you could always lie---if you’re a guy---and say you’ve gotta go and get her an engagement ring, it’ll get them to stop bothering you about comin’ over.†Tex crossed her arms over her tee-shirt and went to his side.
“No, that’s an awful excuse. You remember what happened the next time we visited my mom after that, don’t you?†He pursed his lips and turned away.
      “Yeah… Um… just… Tell them you’ve got the H1N1 then.â€Â
“Well, this concludes another Red vs. Blue PSA!†Sarge shouted.
“Aww! And I didn’t even get to tell everyone the URL of my Amazon wishlist!†Donut exclaimed, his voice whining and waning.
“And I didn’t get to tell Santa hello! And Rudolf!†Caboose exclaimed. “Do you think he’s watching, Church?â€Â
      “Somehow, I doubt that.â€Â
Simmons then stopped the recording and began removing the tape.
“That was pretty good.†Wash mumbled sarcastically, rolling his eyes, arms crossed over his chest.
“You’re just jealous of my good looks.†Church snapped, moving towards the group as Tucker finally stopped behind him.
“Hardly. You’re no Brad Pitt.†Wash said with a crooked smile of amusement. Donut gasped and moved over.
“You love him too!?†Wash ignored him.
“You’re right, “Church agreed with a smug smile. “I’m much better.â€Â
“You’re such a moron.†Tex snapped, hitting his arm hard enough he flinched.
“Am I dead?†Tuckered breathlessly, checking his limbs for transparency.
“Not yet…†Tex glared, causing him to shiver in fear.
“I’ll… bust… your… brain!’ Grif shouted through breathing lungs, slumped forward as he practically crawled forward.
“Oh my god, you ran like ten feet!†Simmons raged, looking scornfully at his pathetic comrade.
“Ten feet!? Awesome! New record!†Sarge sighed.
“Your presence is only an outrage to the human race!â€Â
“Can I add narration!?†Donut excitedly exclaimed, literally jumping forward.
“No, for the last time, Donut! NO ONE wants to buy you a makeover kit!†Simmons shouted angrily, swinging his fist at the lightish red (pink) private. He whined.
      “But, Simmons!â€Â
“No buts! Now, lets go check out this video before sending it in to Rooster Teeth Productions.†The group then went to the blue base and put the tape in.
“It should be fine.†Church said into the silence.
“It wouldn’t have bee, but I fixed it.†Grif said smugly, pointing to himself as they gathered in the small living room.
“What are you talking about?†Before Grif could tell them about the lens, the theme music started, the intro playing. Everyone waited patiently for the black to fade away, but it didn’t.
“Huh? I thought I put the lens back on.†Grif said as everyone stared at the blank screen with worry.
“Put what back on? The lens was fine, dip shit.†Simmons snapped, standing from his spot on the cement. When it hit Grif what he’d done, his face went pale.
“Oh fuck. Simmons, go check the camera.†They all went out and Simmons looked, feeling so angry when he saw the lens cap on that he could explode---literally.
“He put the lens cap on.†Simmons confirmed thr

Sarge and Church were standing side by side, both of them dreading this PSA. Simmons had the camera ready, eyes scanning it perfectly. “We don’t get paid enough for this…†Church grumbled, a scowl inked onto his face.
Behind them were the pine trees, all of the suddenly being engulfed by what looked like snow in a loud puff. The snow like substance floated slowly down and onto Church, hitting his visor. He whipped around with anger radiating off him as his blood boiled. His hands tightened on his sniper rifle and he began his rant, “You thought I fucking told! No feathers chopped up! I’ll shoot you down if I have to! I’ll do it right fucking now! Or maybe you’d prefer I cut down the entire goddamn tree! Tex has a chainsaw I can use! And what the hell did I say about throwing stuff at me!?†His rant continued in the background as Sarge looked at Simmons.
      “Almost ready, Simmons?â€Â
“Almost, Sir!†He exclaimed enthusiastically, messing with the variety of settings.
“Don’t forget the cap.†Sarge reminded, reaching for the Len’s cover. The sergeant pulled it off and set it on the ground next to the camera.
“Sorry I’m late.†Grif spoke halfheartedly as he strolled up to Simmons’s side, helmet removed and a smoke between his lips.
“Again.†Simmons added as if it was part of his sentence.
“You fucking hate you, Caboose!†Church shouted louder. His only response was silence for a moment, then laughing. “Tucker, get down here before I get you down!†That’s when Wash decided to drop down from the hidden branch, his helmet off and a smile on his face of amusement. “You did this?â€Â
“The question is: why not?†The freelancer then abruptly chuckled and strolled away.
“Thought Tex would’ve-†church started to mumbled, but before he could finish, she dropped down to. “Never mind…â€Â
“You’re such a loser.†Tex mumbled with a smile on her face.
“No, I’m not a loser.†She laughed with a roll of her eyes, and then pointed behind him.
“You’re up to bat loser.†He glowered at her as she strolled away with amusement plain on her face. It angered him how much she enjoyed torturing him.
He turned around then, his eyes searching the morons around him for Caboose. “Good luck, best friend!†His eyes snapped to the boy, then turned away just as quickly, a dread deep in him begging for this to stop now.

As everyone was distracted, Grif noticed the lens cover, which--to him--, looked like the lens itself. Afraid to get blamed, he picked it up and ever-so-casually, placed it back on, then stepped out of the way without notice.

“Can we get started now?†Simmons asked, sounding irritable.
“Go ahead.†Church mumbled. “Won’t make it any worse or better.â€Â
“Okay, action!†Simmons pressed the record button and stepped away, watching his comrade, rather then the received picture.
“Hello, I’m Leonard Church from the popular web series: Red vs. Blue!†The excitement in his voice even now was noticeably false.
“And I’m Sarge! From the same web-show!†Sarge sounded his old-self. Of course, unfazed.
“Today, we’re tackling: Christmas.†Church sounded even more annoyed this time.
“Of course, some of you may not celebrate Christmas.†Sarge continued, Church turning to him slightly to listen.
“Yeah, you might celebrate Hanukah or some other weird thing like Tex.â€Â
“If so, we have a message,†Sarge said, sounding sure of their next action.
“Suck balls. Yeah, that’s right. Start celebrating Christmas ‘ya douche!†Church shouted like it was a great way to relieve anger.
“Or, you could celebrate something much cooler! Something that doesn’t involve blue Santa!†Sarge shouted and everyone turned to him, speaking in sync.
      “What?â€Â
“Something more red! Because blue is the color of evil!†Everyone stared at him silently, and then scrambled to check their scripts. It was nowhere near correct.
“Um… suck it red! Blue is the color of serenity! Red is the color of anger!†It had been the best Church could throw together.
“But, blue is also the color of alien blood!†Sarge retorted.
“Red is the color of human blood you fucking idiot.†Sarge chuckled.
“Exactly! Which is why blue sucks!†Church frowned, but silently turned back to the camera.
“Any who, the most important thing to remember about the holiday season is: avoid family at all costs. Or, in some people’s cases: in-laws.â€Â
“My only in-laws were barbaric wolves from South America!†Sarge shouted.
      “WERE?†Church repeated, catching it easily.
“Well, of course! I had to kill her for food! Did I tell you I was raised by a monkey and wolf?†Church abruptly decided to return to subject.
“Um… anyway, we’ve put together some really good excuses to NOT visit family on the holidays.â€Â

WARNING TO ALL GATEWAY COMPUTERIST PEOPLE. DO NOT INSTALL YOUR WINDOWS 7 UPGRADE.

Okay, I figured I should warn everyone: I installed it, and now my digital sound drive is down. Gateway told me they can fix it, but not without paying 60 bucks. And that's for only a half hour. If they don't fix it within thirty minutes, they plan to charge me ANOTHER sixty bucks. And they said they were aware that the problem was occurring. But they said it so you assumed it happened to EVERY computer. And, my computer is only a few months old. So dishonest. *Shakes head*

Anyway, in other news, I saw New Moon on Thanksgiving. Let me just say: it was A LOT better then the first one. The acting was better, the graphics were kick ass and the wolves were a total batch of awesomecookies---I have no idea XD. Yeah, I might be doing some art soon(wolves anybody?). It goes by the book a ton more too, which is a bonus. And I know it wasn't a choice to switch directors, but I'm glad they did.

Also, I got the Recreation and Rt Shorts DVDs today. They're OKAY. I mean, I can watch everything now without being on the internet, and the outtakes and deleted scenes are a bonus. That's really all extra they have though. I was counting on having more(like on the Blood Gulch Chronoicles's DVD). Oh well.

Lastly, I have the new Trocadero CD(Ghosts That Linger). Talk about total instant love. The songs are amazing and fifty times better then the first Trocadero CD(Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue). My favorite is 'The First Wave'(also known as: Track Eight or The Director's Song). It is the most amazing song EVER. I suggest buying their new CD if you don't already have it(if not, what are you waiting for?).

Well, I think that is all.

      ~~Sincerely,

      Emily

When I warily turned the corner, I saw a soldier in steel armor: he smirked beneath his helmet and I scowled before being grabbed from behind. The soft glove covered my mouth and another arm wrapped over my body to hold me still. I screamed, but it muffled, dropped my weapon and scratched at the hand over my mouth.
“Shh.. It’s okay.†I knew that voice. It made me look up to see Tenn’s eyes meet mine. Agent Tennessee was a strange man. During training, he always kept to himself and never seemed to have a big role in the big events. But now, he seemed to play a bigger role then I’d first believed. “Guard, grab the kid.â€Â
So, the guard went off as I fought harder and screamed relentlessly. His control over me didn’t waver as he dragged me out there. I found the guard holding a knife to Carry’s neck as she cried and reached to me. “Alright, the Chairman has a job for you. Now, you either complete it, or you die, or, your daughter dies.†I muffled another horrid scream as tears rolled down my cheeks. “Spy on Wash and give us progress reports. He’s not to know you’re watching him and if you break any orders, I’ll have your daughter killed.â€Â
“Okay!†I shouted, getting free and moving back.
“Good. Get started.†He tossed me a clip of rifle ammo.
      “Okay…†I said sadly.
“We’ll be keeping your daughter, for now.†I turned away, grabbed my helmet and latched it on. Almost like slow motion, I walked out the door, trying to ignore Carry crying and yelling for me.
All I could hope, was that I made it out alive.

      ===========

smiley6.gif So, what do you think this means? What is the Chairman up to? Where's the Director? Will Carry live to see her father? And where does this all tie in? Find out in, "I'm Totally, Completely Sane."!

“What do you mean?†His eyes filled with liquid gray and darkness seemed to swallow him for a moment.
“I mean, we obviously can’t work together. We’re in a doomed relationship, Agent South Dakota. I’m sorry, but it’s over.†Tears filled my eyes, but anger rushed from my nerves. He just smirked, somehow proud of himself for breaking my heart.
“Wash! Please!†I begged, he just walked to our dresser. He reached in my drawer and pulled out a pile of my clothes and pushed open the door and tossed them out as I screamed and begged. He just continued, tossing more out with the best bravado he could manage.
He emptied the room of my every presence.
Every freelancer piled out, watching with concerned expression, anger or amusement. Omega in particularly seemed amused by this.
      “DAVID!!! You ASSHOLE!!†My brother shouted.
“Fight!†Omega encouraged, York---being the oldest here---intercepted North as he stalked towards him.
“I suggest that you don’t move.†Delta advised him.
“Shut the hell up, D.†North growled viciously at Wash, but he just glowered at him, then the witnesses.
“There’s nothing to see here.†The Director’s voice suddenly broke the tensed silence. He wore just regular clothing of jeans and a button up with a vest. “Agent York, mellow Agent North,†York pulled him off as I was still sobbing.
“You told me that you loved me!†I wailed and he turned to me.
“I’ll deal with her.†The Director said and he nodded and went to his room, shutting the door.
It’d been the worst night of my life. Pity drowned me until I’d decided to be pissed instead. That would bother him more. I’d trash his room, I remembering thinking, loitering. But I never did.
The next day, I armored up and followed my brother to implantations. Both of us were suppose to get implanted today.
All of us got in line and I was just unlucky enough to get behind David and my brother got in front.
My mind tried to skip when I’d heard gunfire and saw him trying to make his escape since AI had corrupted. And when he tried to beg me to comeback after the fact, while laying in a bed and chained. His broken face, torn eyes, flashed in my head--it wasn’t a pretty sight. Thinking about it, I felt sad, I felt frustrated. I’d wanted him to leave with me, but he wouldn’t do it. And when he’d tried to explain himself, he had told me it was what he’d done because he thought it was right.
Only a few hours later, my brother admitted to being another one of the Chairman’s puppets. We had to leave all this behind. As we had begun packing, it had been announced illegal to have an AI. He willingly let them take Theta, but the chairman got a good idea. Well, a good idea on his terms.
Both of us were sent to an outpost with water fountains. There, only a month and a half after the implantations, I found out something I hid from everyone. At first, I didn’t believe it, but I had no way of denying it. I was pregnant. The idea horrified me and I ran off. Really, I wasn’t sure what I expected to do, but I left.
My brother and the Chairman had people looking for me high and low.
Finally, four months later, I came to the Chairman and told him. I begged him not to tell my brother, and he agreed. But at a cost: I listened to his every wish.
      Fearing my brother, I agreed.
I had a baby girl that I named Carry--she reminded me of David almost enough it was painful. But I couldn’t abandon her, so, I raise her in a place just off of Blood gulch. There I have a friend: she’s a teenage blue soldier in yellow armor.
As I walk, the sun peeks through the trees, sweat rolls down my forehead. The leaves look jade and it reminds me of how he a used to tell me my eyes were like the colorful spring leaves.
The canyon wall is in front of me now and I reach through the vegetation that blinded me mostly. I felt the openness on the other end and walked through---now I was in the caves. The water blew a little and I ran through the dampness and to the canyon. It was dry and dreary. Strolling across the canyon, I ran my tongue over my dry lips. Hopefully I’d find some water at my place.
I went into the blue base without knocking, my footsteps loud enough. “Hey! Sister! I’m back!†My voice was dry and strained.
“Yo, Dawg! Get in here!†she shouted and I strolled into the main room to find her talking on a telephone, out of her armor--my daughter was sitting on a blanket with toys around her.
“There’s my little Carry.†I said cheerily as I strolled over and sat down with my legs crossed.
“Mommy!†Carry exclaimed, crawling onto my lap. “Is Daddy okay?†For a moment, I imagined David as he lay in the dirt, blood trickling from the bullet wound in his back.
â€ÂYes.†I answered, pulling her closer to me. She rested her head in the nest of my neck. “Thanks a lot, Sis.’
“No problem. If you ever need anything, I never have anything to do. Unless I’m having a rave.â€Â
“Okay. Thanks again.†I stood and carried my daughter on my side. Then I started off out the door, helmet still tucked under my arm.
After a short walk outside the canyon, I arrived at my cabin. It was all wood except the metal roof, only two different room and only rugs on the ground. I strolled in and closed the door behind me as Carry struggled to get free. Sitting her on the mats, I went to the kitchen.
That’s when I heard a strange scoff from my bedroom. My eyes narrowed as I stared at the doorway. The faint shadow of something or someone large, was moving on the mats.
My heart began racing and my adrenaline pumped, but fear shot through me as I got my pistol off my leg and dropped my helmet.

    • What I Did: Part: 4

      I joined the military.
My brother wouldn’t let me go alone, so he joined up too. I arrived at David’s house that morning in a recruitment uniform, my bag in tow and my brother the same. He’d been beyond furious but still managed to calm down enough. The jeep arrived and his mother snapped a photo of him as he boarded, smiling to himself.
The training was hard, but we somehow managed.
It was the best thing knowing I would be with him, but he was still displeased. The final day of our rookie training, a man named Leonard Church looked us over, but he seemed focused on David, my brother and me. I couldn’t figure out why. He spoke to us clearly: “David, Abby and Luke, you three have been chosen to work in a special military program called, Project Freelancer. Of course, you will have a choice as whether or not to accept, I would recommend accepting. This is for special, highly skilled soldiers. You should be honored to have been picked.†Then, he left.
I remember David talking to me that night in bed, running his fingertips over my cheek and telling me he couldn’t refuse. Anywhere he went, I went.
We both accepted and my brother followed. During training, we were placed in Outpost Alpha---or, Blood Gulch.
What I remember more then anything about that, was what had happened to me that night. I’d had to meet the Chairman of the Oversights Subcommittee. He was a man with an accent, buzzed blond hair and baby blue eyes. He stood in a darkened corner in a conference room.
It was pitch dark except for a square chandelier hanging from the ceiling above the table---it was a table black, shiny and large enough it looked big in this huge room.
No one else was around---or at least, I didn’t think so. “Um.. Hello. I’m Abby Sm-†I started, only for my face to be massed into the table, bust my lip and be held there as someone restrained me from behind.
“Ahhh, yes. Agent south Dakota.†He cooed ominously. “The lover of former freelancer, Agent Washington.†He paced and I fought, but it did nothing.
“What the hell do you want?†I demanded, the taste of blood filling my mouth--chrome.
“Ahh, feisty are we?†He smiled at me darkly, his hands behind him, leaning towards my face. “I like that, Darling.â€Â
“Stay-†before I could finish, he interrupted.
“I would suggest listening to me if you want to live. Or, shall I say, David.†He held a knife up and looked at his reflection in it. Horror jolted through me and I hit hysteria.
      “No! Don’t hurt him!†Snickering smugly.
“I won’t, South. Just as long as you do everything I want.†He ran his index finger over the side of the knife like it didn’t bother him he could get cut. “I want you to gather any and all information about Wash that you can.â€Â
“You want me to spy on him?’ I demanded in outrage.
“Just do it or I’ll have him killed.â€Â
      “Okay! Just don’t hurt him.â€Â
“Good. Now, to remind you…†He nodded in the direction behind me. That was when I felt someone unzip my jumpsuit and expose right where my kidney was. I screamed when they burned a symbol onto my back. P.
After that, I did as told, well continuing to go through training. The last night of our training in base, it was a bit quiet. I couldn’t figure out why, and never have.
Then we went to command and got our armor. Mine was purple and green with my brother. David’s was steel. He’d been accepted into the special ops. Though it seemed we got separated a lot, somehow, we managed to maintain a relationship.
The night before our last training night, I found he was pretty silent. My brother and him were to be implanted with AI. I hated the idea, but he seemed happy. Cheerily and silently, he was shuffling through a book he loved. I’d asked him what was wrong and he’d said nothing. One thing had led to another and that ended up being the last I’d ever sleep with anyone. At least, it seemed that way.
The next night, he’d met me in his bunk. We were alone, the moon light shining through the window to my right. He ran a hand over my lips before kissing me. It was nice, because I’d recently moved into his room secretly.
After a long, gentle kiss, I moved back and stared into his black appearing eyes. “David?’ I whispered.
      “What?’ He whispered back.
“Tell me again why we’re doing this.†I cooed, sitting down on his bed. He sat down next to me, leaning back, hands behind his head.
“Because we want to save lives?’ He offered. I glanced at his face with nostalgia, frustration and affection.
“I need a better excuse, Wash.†I said in frustration.
“Um.. We want to kick ass..? I never really thought about it.†He admitted. I stared at him before getting up the courage I wanted.
      “Lets not do this.â€Â
“We already signed a contract, there’s no escaping. Besides, what’s with all this sudden doubt?†I scooted closer.
“We’ll probably die before this is over, David… please… we can run…†He shook his head, frowning.
“Abby. We can’t do that.†I leaned in and kissed him, my lips molding to his, hands entangling in his hair. He kissed me too, holding me by my waist. I moved back before speaking.
“Yes, we can.†He shook his head again.
“Think about your brother.†He snapped. “He’ll be devastated if you just up and run away with your boyfriend. And hell, escaping the Director won’t be something we can pull off without a load of logic and an armory of weapons.†I stood, outraged.
“Wash, please! I don’t want to die! And you can’t tell me you do! What about your family? Your sister? Brother? Parents!?†He stood, fury burning in his eyes now too.
“Abby! We can’t get out of here! Please, think about this logically! Tex’ll catch us before we can even make the gate! Omega will have a will so powerful, that she won’t be able to resist. He’ll kill us both!â€Â
“We’ll die anyways if we don’t try!†He finally stepped back.
“Fine, enough of the we talk. Obviously we’re on different sides here.†I was suddenly worried.

    • What I Did: Part: 3

I remember after we’d both turned eighteen. Things had gotten a little weird--one more month before graduation. Everyone in our class had seemed to move onto serious relationships, or, at least sleeping with whoever they were with. I remember the news as it had been whispered around that we were the only two virgins. That had been the only time I ever remember David getting too pissed off. He’d threatened that he’d snap the man’s neck for who’d started the rumors because I’d been getting harassed for it.
Some guys at our school had started calling me names and following me into the women’s bathroom. Others just would touch me in places that they shouldn’t, or lift up my shirt or skirt. Apparently, the principle would get them in trouble, but it was never enough to stop them.
The first time it had happened, I remembered coming home crying to find David waiting for me---that was the night he’d gotten so pissed. I’d run to my room and he’d paced at the foot. “What are you doing?’ I asked through my sobs, staring up at him. He stood with his now strait black hair wild, all black attire and with his hand on his chin.
“I’m thinking. It’s not really right---none of this. The rumors, the school. It’s all a disaster.†He said softly, taking a seat next to me. He didn’t even seem to think about trusting me.
“So? We can’t do anything.†I said, wiping my tears from my face.
“I can. I’ve got it in my blood and I’ve been taking fighting classes for a few months.â€Â
“David, you can’t take out all of them in a fight.†He shook his head.
“I know.. But what if I just took out the boy who started the rumors?†I knew where this was going and sat up strait. “I’ll snap his neck for you if you’d like.†I wrapped my arms around his waist to let him know he could touch me. Then he pulled me onto his lap and kissed my hairline. His lips felt like cotton and his breathing felt like a blow-dryer.
“You don’t have to hurt him... But, will you teach me how to fight?†He put his hands on the sides of my face gently and forced me to look into his gray eyes. They looked so tight and serious.
“The thought of you, my dearest, fighting, is more frightening then a shotgun aimed at my gut.†He answered, leaving no room for protest. I nodded and ran my fingers through his soft hair. I’d always loved touching his hair---there’d never been anything softer to me.
“So, no?“ I clarified, mumbling it into his cheek. His breathing came quicker, hitting my neck. His hand ran down my neck, to my shoulders and down my body, then pulled me closer.
“No.†He answered in a whisper into my ear, air filling it instantly. I could’ve yelled at him, hell, I could’ve told him he was a complete idiot. But I didn’t. Instead, I just sat with him until my brother came to check on me. Then he flitted out the window. For some reason, he was very lean on keeping me a virgin. To be quite honest, I wasn’t happy with that and I didn’t get it. He’d graduated college twice already and seemed so much more mature. That’s why I didn’t understand it.
The next memory came back almost painfully. It probably shouldn’t have, but it did.
I’d just graduated four hours ago and was standing in jeans, sandals and a teeshirt. David stands leaning against his sports car. I can’t figure out right now why he’s here, but I just try not to. His gray eyes scan me almost like a prob. He looks sad, lost and hopeless. “Oh, dearest.†He finally whispered, the wind fluttering his hair.
“Is something wrong?’ I asked. His voice had come out serene despite his troubled face. That didn’t help me calm down, it just made things worse. Now I felt like I might throw up.
Instead of answering, he kissed me, hand in my hair. The loud almost rumble as the wind blew sounded, leaves brushing each other.
His tongue ran over my teeth and over my lips intensely. It wasn’t like him to act this way. When he moved away, his troubled expression was worse. “Abby,†he didn’t even look at me as he spoke--instead, his eyes stayed on an object across the street. Now his arms crossed over his chest, he leaned against his car again. “I love you...†Finally, he looked at me. It was the first time he’d ever said that. My hands trembled and sweat, my heart raced.
“You love me?†For some reason, it never occurred to me to say what I wanted to---what I should have. He waited. “I love you too, David.†I finally said, regaining control of my vocal chords. Instead of smiling like I expected, he looked down at the driveway.
“I really wish you didn’t.†He mumbled, now I was confused.
“What? Why?†I was heartbroken. Trying to fight off tears, I waited for his explanation.
“I’m joining the military. I leave tomorrow.†He answered, staring at me like he was sad.
“Well, what are you trying to say?†I demanded, not quite understanding.
“Dearest, I’m shipping off for a six year enlistment.†He explained, moving closer, uncrossing his arms. He stared strait into my eyes.
“I don’t care.†I said throwing my arms around his neck. “I’ll-â€Â
      “No†He protested. “You won’t come with me.â€Â
“Fine, I won’t.†I agreed. He stared at me, bewildered.
“You really won’t?†He clarified in disbelief, raising an eyebrow.
      “Nope.†I said.
“Wow. I was expecting more of a fight then that.â€Â
“Are you going to leave me, David?†That was all I was worried about at this point.
“Breakup with you?†I nodded, my brown hair flailing in the wind. “Not unless I feel like it’s necessary. Because, Abby Susanna Smith, you are the greatest thing to ever happen to me.†He said with a smile and a light brushing of his fingertips on my cheek. “I’m here forever unless you want me to leave, okay?â€Â
      “Promise?’ I asked.
      “Promise.†He said, smiling vibrantly.
That had come back to haunt me, but I’ll get into that later.
The night of my life. I finally got him to spare my virginity before he left. It was almost impossible for me to imagine anything else. He meant everything to me. I’d easily give up my life for him. So, I did the only thing I could do to live.

Another memory was sitting with David as he flipped through his family’s photo album. The pictures inside held great memories for him and he a used to light up when he saw one, then would explain. The sparkle in his gray eyes is now the only thing that saves me.
I laughed to myself as I remembered I’d dreamt of having wedding pictures like his parents.
The last memory I saw was of my daughter.--her as a baby. Sixteen fucking hours of labor---you have no idea how awful that was. It’d been two years now. She was small, smart and happy, her hair night black, eyes dark jade and pale skin. A friend of mine was watching her right now.
      A picture of her flashed.
She always looked innocent. The kid who you’d immediately look at if a cookie was missing from the jar.
I’d given her a bear of mine that was pretty old. David had given it to me when I was fourteen and he was fifteen. It’d just been a friendly gift, seeing as we were just friends then.
The more I thought about him, the more I missed him.
He’d been my shining sun in a dark world.
An image of him at fifteen flashed. As much as I missed him, I laughed. For some reason, when he was going through puberty, he had curly black hair like springs were attached to his scalp. The one image in particular was him with his yellow braces. He’d always been such a nerd.
I’d been an outcast until I met him. Having transferred to his private school with my twin brother, we’d both been out of place. Not to mention that my mother treated us like we weren’t two different people. She considered herself progressive, so my brother had always had to dress like a girl until private school. Then we got uniforms. The boys all wore black dress pants, shoes and sweater with a white undershirt and red tie. The girls had to wear heavy, black skirts that hit our shin, a black sweater and a white button up underneath. Our shoes were thick heeled and shiny black.
I remembered being stared at a bit my first day. At thirteen, it hadn’t been really easy for me. Especially since the only real person staring at me was David. At the time, he was a boy who excelled in every subject, hated sports and never did anything fun---at least, that’s what I’d heard. And it was believable since he looked like the classic smart kid. Skinny, pale and constantly drifting off.
It took him days to finally talk to me, and when he finally did, I was sitting eating lunch with my brother. A tray of food was in front of us, no one else near us---apparently, we had a tendency to scare them off by the way we sometimes talked in sync and ate in sync. I blamed my mother for that.
David nervously took a seat across from us. “Um... Can I sit here?†He asked gently, trying to seem cooler then he was. I was already freaked out at this point--he’d been staring at me every time I was near him for the entire week I’d been here.
“Sure.†My brother answered, stabbing his straw into his milk carton. We were all three silent as the sounds of other kids talking and eating echoed through the cafeteria. I picked at my mac‘n cheese nervously with my plastic fork. “So, you ever played Fall Out?†My brother asked him.
“Oh, yeah. My dad bought that for me and my brother last Christmas.†He answered, looking a bit interested. He took a bite f his mac’n cheese now--I did the same to look normal as I watched him.
“I created this character His name is Slayer. He’s bad. Dude, he blows up everything he gets the chance to! His name should be exploder or something! It’s sweet!†My brother said, waving his arms around.
“My character’s name is Carry. She’s actually a good guy.†He said almost absentmindedly, his eyes focused on his food like he was embarrassed by my staring.
“A good guy? Good guys aren’t as awesome as bad guys. And plus, you get a ton more violence as a bad guy.†I snapped my eyes to my food and glued them there. A faint trace of heat rose to my cheeks in embarrassment. “Oh yeah, I’m Luke.†My brother said. “This is my sister, Abby.†My eyes wandered to him again.
“I’m David.†He smiled shyly at me when he saw I was looking at him. I whimpered and looked down instantly.
“You wanna come over tonight and play some of my games with me?†That was what started it all. My brother had invited him over and he’d ended up my friend instead, well out of brotherly instinct, my brother hated him. There was no reason for him to be disliked. He was smart, kind and shy.
