The old saying that money can't buy you happiness is certainly true, but the last time I checked, being broke won't buy you a damn thing.

That being said, I often wonder if it's the the buying power of money itself that everyone seeks, or if it's the certain amount of free time that being wealthy can grant you. Too bad, most of us will never know firsthand.

Listen to this, and then try to convince yourself that it's not one of the greatest songs ever written. Talk about a killer riff. I could listen to this song all day! Hell.... Who am I kidding? I already do.

By now, you've noticed that you probably don't bounce back from just about anything as you once did, and energy is something that young kids mysteriously have, yet we can hardly get out of bed somedays. Well, it's not quite that bad, but you get the picture.

So I guess the question I'm alluding to is at what age did you finally start feeling youth slipping away, like sand between the fingers of a clenched fist? Was it a particular activity you once enjoyed, or just a mental thing that put it all in perspective for you?

Just to lay a little groundwork here about myself: I'm not the type who usually runs out to buy the new "wonder products" that I see on TV or read in an ad. As a staunch skeptic, it just isn't my style. However, after giving it a lot of thought, I decided to drop $200 on the Learn and Master Guitar course that I'd been eyeing for about a year. I shit you not, it's a great program.

I searched the web high and low looking for an honest review, but couldn't seem to locate anything that wasn't linked back to the site as a referral. Didn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Needless to say, I threw caution to the wind, and gave it a shot. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's "miraculous," but if you are willing to put in the time (PRACTICE), you will see results.

I wouldn't recommend it for those of you who already have a good grasp on the basics (or have the luxury of a real teacher), but if you are literally starting from ground-zero, I think it will help; just expect to learn to read music in the process. Tabs are great, but sooner or later, you're going to want to take it to the next level as a player. You'll thank me for this later.

After mulling it over a bit, I decided to pick up Slash's biography from the local Barnes and Noble yesterday. This is pretty remarkle, considering that I don't read.

Notice I didn't say that I can't read. I simply said that I don't read, which translates into I have the attention span of a small poodle, and most books knock me out quicker than a two-liter bottle of NyQuil. Anyway, I'm only about a quarter of the way through the book, and honestly -- it's pretty damn good.

Besides being one heck of a guitar player, I tip my hat to Slash's ability just to make it to adulthood in one piece. The guy led a pretty wild life in his youth. People have learned to play the harp doing much less than he got away with. Guess God felt we needed another kick-ass guitar player to replace some of the other ones we've lost along the way (Hendrix, SRV, Allman, Rhoades).

      Great Read.

I just saw the "Red Rings of Death" group here on RT, and noticed it only had 37 members. I've been through 4 Xboxes alone, so I'm pretty sure that tons more of you are either in denial, or maybe it's just a case of simple oversight on your part.

      Oversight. Yeah.. that's the ticket.

I stopped by the local festival today, and found a cheap pair of sunglasses to replace the ones that broke on me just yesterday. Better yet, I was looking around Toys R Us for a birthday gift for my nephew (later in the day), and noticed Guitar Hero World tour (guitar and game) were on sale for $50.

I've been wanting this for a while, but couldn't justify the $100 price tag I have seen everywhere else. As much as I loved the original Rock Band, it seemed that most of the songs are RB2 were just about unrecognizeable to me. Good to see those familiar songs made to Guitar Hero, at least.

Quit rolling your eys. The title said simple pleasures. Did it not?

I think you and I are just old my friend. My favorite time of rap was when Dre came out with Chronic. Wasn't really into it much before then, and not much since. I do like Dre and Snoop though. I do think Eminem comes out with some pretty good stuff. Again, don't listen to him much, but I think the guy is loaded with talent and I respect him for what he does and for his willingness to speak his mind even if it seems to get him into controversy. I may not agree with what he has to say, but I'm glad he speaks his mind.

It's much more difficult and expensive than a comparable fixed wing rating. Plus it takes years to get good at it. Particularly the first year or two, the learning curve is very steep.

So many people are Libertarians in their though process but still stick with the ol 2-party dogma out of habit. It's a shame. I would not be surprised to find the percentage higher than 50%. I think we got what we did in the last election because both parties suck and nobody was willing (not enough anyway) to get away from the Republicrats.

That band you like, Low Life, isn't too bad. Not exactly my style, but they seem like they know how to write a song. I did like - Bag of Money. I would have to say that's the catchiest one of the bunch to me, and the one I liked the best.

Glad you like them, but they just sort of blend in with every other coffee shop/obsecure band that I've heard since about the mid-90's.

That may be, but you brought up another reason I'm not thrilled with the 360. The fact that emulators are required to play older games. It just seems that they're using it as a way to sway people. Just when people start complaining about something wrong with the 360 they can come forth and say "Well look what else you can play with an emulator now." It just seems like bad business to me. Sony's BS I can see through. Not that I intend to buy a PS3 either.
