      Gears of War (Mad World)

I finally got around to watching the new version of the Gears of War Mad World commercial for Gears of War Ultimate Edition today:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwbYhvlrQbc

Maybe it is just me but I feel like this totally missed the spirit and tone of the original commercial:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccWrbGEFgI8

The spot was about a soldier fighting strange forces in a world we don't understand. The new version forgets that and instead gives us giant explosions and huge set pieces. It almost seems like the use of the Mad World song is a mistake in the new spot, or even worse that whomever made this commercial thought the song was the only important part of the spot.

Or maybe I'm just a grumpy old man and all you kids need to get off my lawn.

      Continental 8005

Last night I had a dream that I was flying somewhere internationally. The first flight I went on was fine but the airport I was connecting at was weird. It appeared that the plane I was on and the airport I arrived at were floating on the water. After getting off the plane I tried to find my next flight, Continental 8005. I thought United had absorbed all the Continental flights, but whatever. I tried to ask for directions but my mouth was inexplicably filled with chunky peanut butter. I kept trying to scoop it out of my mouth with my fingers but I couldn't get it out fast enough. I decided to give up and go to the airport bar.

      The end.

      RTX is "One Week" Away

So, we are officially less than a week out from opening RTX! Let me start off by saying how excited we are about all the amazing programming we have. Not only do we have tons of Rooster Teeth content to share, but we have so many of our friends in both the online entertainment space as well as the video game industry. Surely we have set the bar so high we could never top it next year, right? What if we top it this year?

I’m proud to announce that RTX will have a musical show on Saturday night. At no additional cost to you, you can simply walk over to the Paramount Theater on Saturday evening (with your badge...badges are necessary for entry), doors open at 7pm and the show starts promptly at 8pm. Who will be performing?

We are proud to announce the concert will begin with Video Game Orchestra and special guest Jeff Williams! Created by the producer Shota Nakama, VGO is a Boston-based touring production consisting of a rock band, orchestra and choir performing their original “rockestral” arrangements of video game music. They have recorded for the official soundtracks of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and numerous other blockbuster titles. We’ve been wanting to find a way to have them come down and join us at RTX for years now and we’re super excited to finally make it happen.

After the VGO performance we will welcome our good friends the Barenaked Ladies on stage. You of course know Ed Robertson as Captain Dynamic, and more recently you have surely seen our collaboration with them on the music videos for Odds Are and Say What You Want.

We couldn’t be more excited about this announcement, so please come out and join us at the Paramount Theatre on Saturday evening!! Capacity is of course limited so we will be capping the line once we know the venue will be filled. There will be a separate line for VIP badge holders but if you want to get in, you must be there by 7pm when we begin letting people into the venue.

      Goodbye old website

Work on creating this website began some time in June of 2004 and it was completed and launched for the public in October of 2004. We decided that rather than join the other social media websites at the time that we should carve out our own home on the internet that we could call ours.

At the time Friendster was two years old and going strong. In fact, Google offered to buy them for $30 million in 2003. Myspace was one year old and was later acquired in July 2005 for $580 million.

I think we made the right decision.

The site has been sorely in need of an overhaul for a while and I'm happy that day is finally upon us. You've served us well, but it is time to move on. I, for one, welcome our new website overlord.

      Rooster Teeth at SDCC

If you're at San Diego Comic Con this week make sure to come say hi to us in booth 1437! Burnie, Jordan, Lindsay, Matt and I will all be there representing Rooster Teeth and we will also be joined by Alan Ritchson and Colton Dunn on Saturday! Alan and Colton will be in the booth and will also be joining us up on the stage for our panel Saturday evening at 8pm in Room 6DE. I hear we may be showing some videos at the panel....
      --edit--
Also, did you know that Alan, Burnie, Colton and Matt will all be on the Nerdist live stage at PetCo Park on Saturday at 1pm? It is open to the public and you do NOT need a badge for Comic Con to attend! Quite frankly I'm insulted I wasn't invited but go check it out and let me know how it goes!

Additional RTX badges and hotel rooms!!

Hey all, in case you missed the announcement, I am happy to tell you that we have some additional RTX badges available on sale now! Just go to our ticketing website and you should see weekend passes available.

Now that you're coming to RTX, you need a nice place to stay. May I suggest a room at the brand new JW Marriott? We are holding some events there at the hotel in addition to the convention center...and this is MUCH nicer than sleeping in the convention center. Rooms are limited and the deadline to book a room there is July 15th, so act now!

      RTX 2015 tickets

SO, it's that time of year again. We are ready to put RTX badges up for sale, so be sure to come back tomorrow at 3PM Central time to get them ( http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html ).

Before badges go up for sale I want to make a few announcements to keep you guys in the loop. This year RTX is expanding. The past couple of years we have been in the Austin Convention Center which is a fantastic venue. In order to accommodate the continued phenomenal growth of RTX we are expanding and in addition to the Austin Convention Center we will also have space in the Hilton across the street and the beautiful brand new JW Marriott which is two blocks away from the convention center. We are working on finalizing hotel deals so please don't book a hotel yet. We'll have a great rate for you guys at those hotels as well as the other usual suspects we get rates for every year.

We also are unveiling a new exclusive VIP level pass for the show. Some of these were previously offered as part of a perk package for the Lazer Team Indiegogo and we will have a very limited number of them available when tickets go on sale tomorrow. By no means does this mean that the standard pass is in any way less special than it was in previous years. The VIP level badge has always existed, we merely gave them out to friends and family rather than selling them. This year we are allowing a small number of them to be purchased. Further details about what these offer will be posted tomorrow when the tickets go live.

If you attended Let's Play Live you'll remember you were promised a discount code for RTX badges. We will send you those unique codes to you via email tonight so that you have them when badges go live tomorrow. Make sure you check your spam folder for the email and/or add [email protected] to your address book to avoid the email going to your spam.

Check back here or follow @rtxevent on twitter to keep up to date.

      TL;DR:
      Badges go on sale tomorrow
Don't book your hotel yet, we're finalizing great deals for you
There will be a small number of VIP badges for sale
LPL attendees will be getting discount codes tonight

      Let's Play Live....more seats?

We've been at the venue all day preparing for the event, and guess what? We realized that there are twelve extra floor seats that we didn't sell!

We of course have a few balcony seats left but we threw those twelve floor seats onto the ticketing website as well, so if you're interested go buy a ticket!

Gus, I challenge you to a Hearthstone fight. It will be a 'Best of 3' style. Pick 3 classes and choose one class to not allow me to pick and I will do the same. Do you accept the challenge?

Hey Gus in Podcast #214 you talked about doing a new intro for the podcast in the style of SNL. With a video showing the people on the podcast and the theme song for that week playing. I was wondering if there are any plans for doing this now or something like it?

Hello there. I am a big fan of Rooster Teeth and I have been so extremely excited to go to RTX for a long while now. I had to work hard all year to get to RTX, get straight A's in my classes and to get a job to pay for the hotel. Everything was looking positive, until I had found out that my dad had never even bought my ticket when he said that he did. Now I can't get into RTX, all tickets are sold and RTX is days away. My dreams were crushed, I was so ecstatic at the thought of actually seeing the creators of the best source of entertainment that I have found. I will still be going to Austin, since the plane ticket has been bought and the hotel (which is literally right next to the convention center). At least I'll be able to view the livestreams from across the street.

Not sure where to leave feedback, I noticed something after the site update that's a bit off. So far I've only watched RT Podcasts, but the way they are set up now, it's hard to get the description and who's in it before choosing an episode. Pretty minor. Just wasn't sure if anyone felt the same way.
