Hi there! My name is Hannah McCarthy, and I am a Documentary/Unscripted Producer and Writer here in the Live Action department. This is my first ever journal post, so I'm a little nervous, but my overwhelming excitement to talk about our new RT Doc definitely outweighs the nerves.

We are so excited for you all to finally see Becoming Jessica Nigri, as it was an absolute joy to shoot and produce. Our director Mat Hames and his team at Alpheus helped us capture an incredible story that showcases the transformative power of cosplay and how it can lead to self-discovery. We explore so much beyond Jessica's path to BlizzCon in the doc--from her childhood in New Zealand to the fantastic history of creativity in her family, this documentary is an introspective and personal glimpse into how she became the phenomenal talent she is today.

And while I'm on that topic, let me just say that Jessica is by far one of the most dedicated, creative, and genuinely wonderful people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Honestly, I'm convinced she's superhuman because she went literal days without sleep. While filming her 48 hours into sleep-deprivation, I watched her befriend a house fly that was buzzing around her, name him Jacob, and proceed to call him her "son" into the wee hours of the morning. Even when running on fumes and with a deadline at her heels, Jessica was affectionate and funny. If you wake me up before 8am I am a terror. She was a beacon of positivity at 4:30am after working her fingers numb. I'm telling you, she's magic.

I truly hope you enjoy Becoming Jessica Nigri -- it's only available to our FIRST members, so if you haven't already, please sign up for a free month trial to check it out! We've already got a lot of ideas cooking for RT Docs in 2018, and we can't wait to share them with you, but there's no better way to start than with this documentary.
