Is anyone else going?
It is here! The teaser for Captain Hobbes and the AstroCats!
I am so happy to announce we have finished the trailer for Captain Hobbes and the AstroCats! Please let us know what you think!
I happen to be an audio listener of the off topic podcast. It seems more an more that the off topic podcast are talking down to us audio listeners. I am a first member so that is not the issue. I listen to it on my 40 minute commute to work and then the 40 min drive back. It is just easier for me to do that. There have been times where I will listen to something and know I need to go home to look up what happened. However, now it is more and more likely that I need to look up a lot of segments every podcast and it is starting to turn me off. I was originally thinking of making videos called "You gotta see this" where I take the portions that are visually heavy and cutting them, but it is becoming more likely that it will be almost as long as the actual podcast. I am not sure if anything will help at this point. I am not saying anything negative, I am just hoping we as a community can find a solution as I can't dedicate my time to watching the full thing each week and it works so much easier to listen to it on my drive to and from work. Any ideas?
New show kind of like the apprentice where you take 12 hopeful Achievement Hunters, Have weekly tasks like fastest editing, best content, Minecraft for real, etc and the winner gets a job. Make it like the gauntlet but don't have it solely around gaming as you needs editors, creators, etc.
It seems to me that As RTX grows over that years, they are forgetting their roots. I have gone every year to RTX and am sad to say that my experience last year is not making me want to go this year, unless there are major changes. Below are just a few.
1) Less people or more things to do.
Last year I went to maybe 4 panels as they were always over crowded and few and far between. As someone who has been to RTX each year since its inception, I can say that 2013 was a shinning example of how it should go. There were more panels so if you were at max capacity for one, there was one right around the corner, unlike 2014 where you had to be in line all day for one panel and it still was not a guarantee (I will address this later) and if you did not make it into a panel there was nothing but going back to the dealer room for hours and sometimes the rest of the day.
2) Questions at panels.
We know you wont get to everyone. We get that. But some people stand for 2 hours at the mic (depending on the length) when it should be cut off way before then. Have the guardians only let 10 people line up on each side then more if they need be. I hate seeing someone who has been standing there all day just to ask a question to someone, or his favorite youtuber, or whatever just for you to take 20 minutes on a different question then say no more questions when their is still 30 minutes left. We cant all make it to the signings when specific people are out and again there is no guarantee their either. You should be able to judge lines now. This is not Disney where you can trade off with your twin on 30 minute intervals (20 in the summer of course)
3) The guardians.
In as few words as possible, they were abusive of their power, useless, and did not follow the rules that you set forth. Not all, but the ones that got all high and mighty ruined my trip. For example. When I would line up 2 hours for a panel (the rule that was set forth in place by the company), and their were more people that their should have been, I had one guardian actually flip a coin to see which line (the one I was standing in, or the one that formed 5 minutes before the panel) would go in first and then we would get to max with the other. This could have been much worse if the coin flip had gone the other way, but it is things like this that need to change. I even had my pass temporarily (only thanks to another guardian I knew from previous years) taken away from me because someone was not doing their job. I was 3rd in line for the game grumps cards against humanity panel when the fire alarm went off. Sadly it was rescheduled for the next night. So the panel was at 8, so I went upstairs at 5:45 to hang around until I could get in line. I was not the only one as a small group had formed. At 6, we were allowed to go to the waiting room, but there was already a line formed at max capacity. Apparently the panel before it, just reformed, or ones left out of it went back. So there was a line there over an hour earlier than the 2 hour max rule. This rule that stated there can be no line formed for a panel until 2 hours before the panel was not being followed. The guardian on duty was supposed to dump the line and reform with the people that waited. He did not do this so only 20 new people who waited the 2 hours got in. I told the guardian on duty that he was not doing his job and he basically told me to Fuck off. So I said fine, and I went and stood at the very front of the line as this was my place, legit. last night. He basically tore me out of line and forced me to give him my badge as I was disruptive. Thankfully I got it back 20 minutes later when I told some of the head guardians what had happened, and they agreed while I should not have stood at the front, he was in the wrong and not me as I was just trying to follow the rules.
4) The "Community Participation" Event.
We had tours, Playing dead for a future RT production, pool parties, Zombie Immersion, and the Water Balloon Slow Mo Guys. Last year we had "Auditions" (And I use that term loosely) for Lazer team. Again the problem was people lining up to early and the line being closed 10 minutes after opening. This was supposed to be your big event with the Community and only 1% of the community got to do it. This was one of the biggest let downs as I was prepared to strut my stuff for you. But even hearing it from people who got to do it say it was abrupt and short. A community event needs fun that everyone can do and participate in, not just another 2 hour line for 10 seconds. I know it is harder with 10+ thousand people, but I know there is something interactive that can be done. Even if it is to break the record for the biggest game of red rover, that is still fun.
All these problems (and feel free to comment if you think something needs to change also that I have not addressed) are why I will not be going to RTX this year. I always support you guys, but you are getting a little to big for yourselves now. If I hear positive things maybe 2016.
I need help from someone that is good with effects, photoshop, etc. I am wanting to create trailers for Various AH let's plays. I think it will be fun to do and pretty simple. Below is the pilot for the series, but I could use someone to help spruce it up, and I would be wanting to use you for future trailers. For instance, I would love at the end instead of the obsidian, a flaming AH logo(done like the real hunger games) and to make the sections with obsidian better in general. I also need ideas. Not all epic fighting ones, some funny, drama, and even romance trailers. I have plenty of trailer music and can work sound pretty well to make the trailers well, but I need better visuals. I appreciate any ideas, help, or just general opinions of what you think. 18 plus only if you want to help. Sorry, but since we will be dealing with M rated games I am very strict on this. Shoot me a message and maybe a preview of the AH logo in the style of the hunger games.
