      The Dexter series.. .

      Darkly Dreaming Dexter

      Dearly Devoted Dexter

      and the newly released...

      Dexter in the Dark

A series by Jeff Lindsay about a serial who works as a blood spatter expert for the Miami-Dade Police, ironically, helping to catch other serial killers. Dexter lives by a "code" handed down to him from his adoptive father, Harry [it's referred to as the Code of Harry]. He claims to have no real emotions, and tries to fake things like sincerity and love in order to fit in and avoid suspicion.

This series has gained popularity more recently because it's now a show on Showtime in its second season.

Personally, I think the storyline is interesting and imaginative. However, I find Lindsay's writing style to be quite amateur.

Any thoughts on this series? I'd love to hear what other people think about it.

"One of the most likable vigilante serial killers"

Seriously... What brand of low-life looks at a banged up 1989 Cutlass and thinks, "It can't possibly suck enough for this person to have to drive This around town .. LET ME GO AHEAD AND SMASH THE WINDOW AND JACK THE CAR STEREO!".... .. ??!?!?

What pisses me off most is that they took my favorite jacket.
And i've never seen Anyone else ANYWHERE with this jacket..

So if i see a bum wandering around town wearing a Murder By Death jacket with a viking ship on it... i WILL break my hand on his face. I am Not.. by Any stretch of the imagination.. a forgiving person.

And if anyone has a car stereo or a passenger-side window that will fit in an '89 Cutlass lying around... I'm currently accepting donations.

Seriously-- Where are those obviously gigantic wolves?! i mean.. the Earth And the moon are both already in the background.. and nevermind the mountain range that the wolves are big enough to stomp like a bug.

. . ....i really have no idea where they could be.. you know, other than on a cheesy shirt sold at a gas station in a tourist-trap town.

Oh.. and by the way.. it glows in the dark.

Later, we're going to glue it together then display it on the wall in the office. smiley0.gif

      Regarding the missing piece:

      [18:51] CloudMX : Balls to that. :-(

exactly what it would feel like... . to have a defibrillator used on me... .

Someone make me go into cardiac arrest.. i'm curious.

      400px-Defrib.svg.png

And other than morbid curiosity.. here's a very brief update on the world of Jackie:

I keep tearing down friendships right and left.. but my tolerance for stupidity and inconsideration has gone down drastically in the past couple of weeks..

in about a week and a half, i'll be going to my boss' wedding.. . my boss is pretty neat, but for some reason -- it just feels odd to be going to his wedding.. . The next day is the baby shower for the pregnant friend of mine whose child i made the quilt for.. . That should be entertaining.. .

My current roommate has pretty well reaffirmed the idea that i should not live with other people. .....or cats.

As for art-related stuffs.. my friend, Erin, and i are working on a film about Dinosaurs.. [which means we will get to build a giant T-Rex foot out of papier mache that will be about 5 or 6 feet high].. and my best-friend-guy is bringing me his new drumset piece by piece to draw on.. .

      woo.

...And how was Your day, darling?

    • Eh.

      Hey.

So it seems i spent most of yesterday completely inadvertently burning some bridges.. i'm not entirely sure how i managed it.. . But oh well... Though -- there's one bridge i definitely put a flame to, but i'm not quite sure if it actually caught fire or not.. . i actually don't want to burn that bridge [yeah.. that's a very Slight tinge of regret there].. But what can i say.. i'm just Not a morning person.

      Enough with the clichéd metaphors.

On a separate note.. one of my favorite friends is pregnant... So i made her a quilt smiley0.gif :

      kaidasquilt.jpg

And what's even better is that most of the time i was making the quilt, i was baking too.. i think i'm ready to be a housewife. Ha!

      yeah the teacher didn't like me much. I was suprised I got a B. I knew I'd get a C for sure.
I'm just not into most forms of art that is considered popular. like solid color etc.

the picture that questioned Authenticity and value was a photograph that someone took of another photograph. you know, the picture is on the wall and they take out their own camera, *click* and then they make 1000+ at least. I hate the art community. I'll join the immature comic artists any day

just for that, I'll give you a first listen at a rough run-through I did playing a certain song along with the original.

you'll hear mistakes, but I never claimed to be perfect. i just had some fun learning and playing the song this afternoon.

Displaying someone else's work and calling it your own is a common practice of Modern art. It brings up the questions of Authenticity and value. is an artwork more valuable because of who created it? or should it be based on what it is.

I learned that in a modern art class last semester, I raised my hand and said, that is the lamest excuse for art thievery I have ever heard

I saw that somewhere, and was like, "Dude, that's sweet". See, I like stuff like this that strikes the emotion, but you can't really tag it with words. Pretty good stuff, JackieBot.

Strictly artistically speaking, it's a great photo to capture such emotion.

Speaking of the rear view mirror, there's TONS of space near the rear windshield and tons on the dashboard. It's weird.

My grandma would have a field day. She's the type that clutters up her dashboards with papers that slide around and reflect off the glass so that they almost get you in accidents.

There's also that sense of accomplishment that comes from teaching yourself something.

Even if some jackhole comes up later and says, "Oh, yeah. That looks like so-and-so's work.", you can say, "I don't have any idea who you're talking about." and feel good about it.

The downside is that I've evolved my style so many times that I'll sometimes forget how I did something in one drawing that I now want to recreate...

I come up to my apartment building to see two of our maintenance guys cutting up a fucking stump RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT. They took down the tree last week, and are currently working on getting the stump taken care of. Stupid loud power tools are keeping me up now.
