April 30th 2014. I feel utterly dreadful and in all honesty have no idea what to do or how I'm feeling. I just want to say that this is not a sob story of any sort. I just need to process some thoughts.

My fiancée works on board a cruise ship and is away 6 months at a time. She's halfway through her second contract. The first time she went away was really hard to begin with. It's so difficult to go from living with someone, waking up next to them each and every morning and planning your futures together to suddenly adapting to a quick email or Skype call once a week, but, we did adjust to it. After all, what's 6 months when you have the rest of your lives together?

It was fantastic when she came back. I had first date nerves when I went to meet her in the capital! To be reunited was, to me, the greatest feeling I could ever get. I felt totally overwhelmed to hold her in my arms once again!

There's a flip side to that though. The feeling of having to let her go a second time.

She phoned me at the airport before she left. Saying she'd changed her mind and if I wanted her to stay that all I need do is to tell her so and she'd come back. Why couldn't I have been selfish and told her to come back. At that point I should've told her to come home. But I couldn't. I couldn't do it because quite simply how could I? I knew that being on that boat is what she wanted to do. I had encouraged her for two years though university to follow her dreams. How could I then turn around and say no, don't go. For if I had I feared she'd always, deep down, hold that against me.

This second time around, it hasn't been the same as it was before. I couldn't understand why, either. After a while the Skype calls and emails became more sporadic. I put it down to the horrendous shifts they've had her working. She said that when she wasn't working, she was sleeping. But something in my gut just never quite sat right.

That brings us to today. 9.25pm on the 30th of April.

She says that she feels differently now.

I don't think I can write anything more. For fucks sake. Why couldn't I have been selfish and told her not to go!!!

Today is a very strange day.

Handed back the keys to mine and my fiancées first apartment together and I'm back in the same room I was renting exactly etoo years ago. Nothing's wrong with our relationship or anything of that ilk, it's just you may remember she works away as a guest relations officer on board a cruise ship. So when we got a letter through saying our landlord was selling the flat it made sense financially for me to move back here as the room became vacant at around about the same time.

It's kinda nice really, like I said, it makes financial sense and gives me some company whilst she's away, but I felt so sad leaving the apartment, especially without her by my side. She left 10 days ago but it feels like months!! It's a really horrible feeling knowing I'm not going to see her until august. I never normally wish the summer away but I cannot wait for this one to pass! She'll be back for 9 months (hopefully longer) I'm really looking forward to finding an even nicer place for us both to live! Maybe a little two up two down with a nice south facing garden just outside of the city...

Ooh and wedding planning! When she's back we're booking the venue and I'll finally have to decide upon my best man and grooms-party! Pretty sure that's going to be one of the toughest decisions of my life! I'm happy to say I'm blessed to have so many great friends and it will be nye on impossible to pick one for best man duties. Might turn it into a bit of a talent show and see who impresses me the most!

      Tl;dr

Sad to move out, missing fiancée, excited about wedding, dilemma picking best man.

Also, thoughts on this for first dance wedding song...

      What if punk never happened..

From 5:50 to end, for me, is something I've lived by for the last 4 years since I heard it.

Punk rock has the power to change the world,
It lies in every single punk rock boy and girl,
So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,
These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,
Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,
Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,
Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,
Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,
Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,
And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,
And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,
Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,
And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,
After all, you were put on the earth to do this,
So shine your light so bright that all can see,
Take pride in being whoever the fuck you want to be.

It's been 6 weeks since my fiancée left to work on board a cruise ship as a guest relations officer.

It's been a strange but okay experience for me so far. The type of thing that can only ever be described as okay at the very best really. You get yourself into your own routine, set yourself little tasks throughout the day in order to keep yourself occupied and fortunately I've had a fair bit of freelance work to do which has kept me relatively busy, but today I really miss her.

6 weeks seems like an absolute lifetime but also only a few hours at the same time. I try not to think about the time ahead and focus mainly week by week. I'm sure the time will fly by. Almost a third of the way through. Can't wait to have her back!

Ah well, just a little ramble. :)

Yesterday I saw my fiancée off at Heathrow airport.

For 6 months straight she's working on board a cruise liner. Currently in Ketchikan they'll be setting sail towards Seattle in 1 hour 50 mins, travelling through the Alaskan fjords along the way and then back up to Ketchikan, stopping off at a few ports here and there as well!

After a few weeks on that route the ship heads down western America from Seattle to San Francisco to Los Angeles. Following that is a 3 week cruise around Hawaii before going transpacific to Australia where the best part of 4 months will be spent moving between Sydney, Wellington NZ and Fiji.

Although I know it's one hell of a trip and could have never dreamt of stopping her from seeing the world in such a way, it is going to take some getting used to living in our flat on my own, it's usually so noisy and now it's not.

      Strange feelings.

      Hello Internet!

I'm not going to lie, this is most likely going to be a fleeting visit, life's starting to get very busy! I'm not sure exactly how many people I used to speak to pretty much daily are still active here, but hey, here's an update into my life!

I moved in my gorgeous girlfriend at the start of the year, and things have been going from best to bestest! And after 2 and a half years together, we're now engaged!

      FUCK YEAH.

I asked her last week, we went stayed in Dublin, Ireland, for 4 nights and I asked her on the second day. Before we left I had researched pretty much the whole of Dublin and had decided on where I wanted to ask her. Arriving in Dublin we bought a couple of 'Dublin Passes', they were excellent, they allowed free entry to all sorts of attractions such as the Guiness Storehouse and the Old Jamesons Distillery. In effect, we had PLENTY of stuff to keep us occupied. The place I'd decided I wanted to propose was in a a serene little park with bandstands dotted around. It looked beautiful.

When I suggested we go for a wonder round the park I was told it was a ridiculous idea, of course, why would we want to go to a park? As I said, we had these passes where we could go anywhere! I eventually dragged her along to this park where I wanted to ask her but I kid you not, this park must be where EVERY PERSON IN IRELAND goes to eat their lunch! It was rammed. We scoured the park trying to find a secluded place and after 20 mins of constant complaints over sore feet, I decided we should retire for lunch.

As we left the park I saw a horse drawn carriage and thought what better way to propose then that? During lunch and after acting pretty strange all day, clutching onto my bag containing the ring I suggested we have a ride on the horse on carriage! I was sure at this point that she'd figured it out. "What are we going to do on a horse and carriage eh, eh? Got something you want ask me hmm?" I was sat there thinking FOR FUCKS SAKE, if you've figured it out then at least keep it to yourself and try and act surprised when I ask! We left the bar and I was pretty short tempered thinking she'd just worked me out.

Arriving at the carriage stand she takes one look at the €25 price and says "Forget that! That's well expensive" and walks off down the high street leaving me gob-smacked thinking, hang on, I am pretty sure you knew I was going to propose to you on this horse and carriage and you turned it down 'cause it was €25!

We then went on a boat tour of the river Liffey and I soon realised that she had no idea. The tour finished at about 4pm and the air temperature was beginning to fall and again came the complaints of sore feet which is fair enough as we had walked about 7 miles across the city. We took a walk down along the river and we came across a nice little spot surrounded by flowers, I was just about to ask her when a couple tapped her on the shoulder asking if she could take a photo of them down by river. FOR FUCKS SAKE AGAIN. I was JUST about to propose. She returned saying she would like to go back to the hotel as she was cold and had sore bloody feet. Much to her detriment I said we should carry on walking down the river. We walked for about 15 minutes and the area started to get a bit run down. When I said we should turn back around and walk back to where the couple asked to taker her photo she said "If we go up this side street we'll be back at the hotel in 20 mins, it'll be about 45 the way you want to go" So I took her by the hand and she walked grumpily behind me, shrugging me off whenever I go to put my arm around her, as I said, cold and sore feet. We eventually get back the place, and the sun's reflecting nicely over the water and then I take the ring out of my bag, bend down on one knee and ask her to marry me.

"NO NO NO OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE DOING THIS TO ME", were the first words out her mouth, shortly followed by "of course I will!!"

Honestly, the most nerve racking day of my entire life, but at the same time, it was undoubtedly the best.

Oh and girls, don't complain about sore feet and being cold, especially during romantic walks along rivers through gorgeous cities.

      TL;DR

I'M ENGAGED MOTHERFUCKERS AND I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER.

Also, special thanks to Dan for the bottle of champagne on the table in our flat waiting for us on our return!

Ahem.. To quote a good friend.. "Men are dying in droves from prostate cancer and you've done fuck all! YOU APATHETIC CUNT!!!!!!!!"

      So listen up -

Movember is a charity organised to TO RAISE AS MUCH FUCKING MONEY AS POSSIBLE for mens health issues, specifically prostate & testicular cancer.

      Step 1

If you have a beard, SHAVE IT THE FUCK OFF. Yes you will find it painful & yes, you will look ridiculous. But then take a moment to think about this fantastic cause you will be helping towards.

How many of these poor bro's who are dealing with mens health problems day in day out would shave off their face fuzz for their illnesses to disappear. Beards grow back, balls don't.

      Step 2

Throughout the month of November, grow the best moustache you can register here and feel proud to be a bro.

A couple of things: If the mo joins on to the sideburn it is then a beard, if the mo joins in the middle of the chin it is then a beard. NO BEARDS OR GOATEES.

      Step 3

If you're not partaking for whatever reason (being a girl etc) then please show your support by donating whatever you can. Everything and anything WILL be appreciated.

      TL:DR

RAISING MONEY FOR MENS HEALTH. DONATE.

GROW A MO TO SAVE A BRO.
