"@MrMetsplayer1 shut the fuck up yur probably a dum prick who reads twilight"
      MrPurplehazeyeyo 1 day ago

"@MrPurplehazeyeyo I have never read twilight. In fact, in the 1.5 months of school I've been in so far this year, I've read the catcher in the rye, to kill a mockingbird and a tale of two cities. So shut up bitch."
      MrMetsplayer1 1 day ago

oooooohhhhh, To Kill a Mockingbird and a Tale of Two cities? Your mental prowess knows no bounds!!! I read both of those in 7th grade, mental giant.

My journal schizophrenia is crippling! smiley4.gif

I've taken down TWO journals already because I don't want to come off like a self-pitying whiner. So I'll cut to the chase in this tl;dr version of EPICNESS

1.) I've been having a lot of s#!t hit the fan this second half of the year. Family and friends passing away, which is very sad, and possibly losing my job soon, which is annoying.

2.) Therefore, I've been totally absent from the RT website, and that's also very sad.

3.) Michelle, AKA Warpek and I are trying to put together ANOTHER RvBCA meetup for the winter-time (which in California doesn't exist, so we'll say December or January smiley0.gif ). We are looking for a more LA-based meetup, since Summer's meetup was so far south. You can head over to the RvBCA group and check it out if you're interested.

4.) I'm trying my damnedest to squeeze out an RT times issue for Halloween, but I give it about 30% odds of it coming out BEFORE halloween. Now I could do a simpsons and release a halloween issue a week AFTER Halloween, but that might be kinda lame. smiley4.gif I'll try my best to do an RT times issue, so watch the RT Times Group for that. I will AT LEAST be putting out something small, or some behind the scenes stuff.

Hope you're all well! I love and miss you all, and hopefully soon I will dig myself out of this pit of stress this year has been. 2012- WHY U NO HERE ALREADY?! smiley1.gif

    • EARTHQUAAAAKE!

      jclfjanet

so I've been so busy with work things that I haven't been on the site much. So to the people who I usually comment on their journals/posts/pics and I haven't, I'm sorry, but you're all awesome! smiley12.gif

So I've been catching up on things now that work seems to finally have reached a crest. I finally downloaded and listened to podcast 128 and was laughing hysterically at Gus talking about wanting to be in an earthquake, which reminded me of a kind of funny story.

So on Easter of last year, there was the huge 8.0 earthquake that hit in Mexico and we felt it very much so in San Diego that day. I have lived in So-cal for all my life and that was THE biggest one I have felt and it felt like it lasted forever. Not wanting to run outside like some panicked out-of-townie, I stood planted in place, figuring that the wave-like motions to stop soon. When they didn't stop I stood, planted in place figuring that if the house was gonna collapse, I didn't have enough time to run out anyway so I might as well stand here like a badass instead of trying to run out like a wussy.

Funnily enough, my step-brother, who lives in Texas, was visiting us for easter to see his dad (My stepdad) and was there for that earthquake. Maybe he told Gus how awesome it was and that's why Gus wants to be in one so bad. smiley8.gif

So a few weeks later I was out with a friend having some margaritas at a local mexican restaurant. Suddenly the table and my chair felt like they were swaying back and forth. My friend and I looked at each other, puzzled, and immediately she blurted out, "Is that a plane flying overhead?"

I shook my head, spitting out some margarita in the process before slurring "No, planes don' make the ground shake...it mus' be a truck."

      Brilliance abound.

When the swaying didn't stop, I looked to the pile of dead bodies in front of me (aka empty margarita glasses) and said, "I must be just buzzed." (buzzed was being kind to myself).

"Yeah, me too," My friend said.

Then it dawned on me (which is an incredible feat considering my current state), that we BOTH weren't experiencing the SAME drunk-swagger at the SAME time. Alas, though the swaying had since stopped, I proclaimed my epiphany to my friend, the waiter, and the people hosting their wedding reception in the gardens behind our table, that the swaying was, in fact, and earthqua- NO! An AFTERSHOCK of the easter quake.

      I am so smart. smiley0.gif

The side project I have been working on is a newsletter for the First ANNUAL (suck it, Gus and Geoff) RvBOR event.

Don't know what RvBOR is? Why the hell not? Ok, ok. So it's the first fan meetup being held in the Portland, Oregon area. If you live around there, you should DEFINITELY check it out (the main event is sold out, but there's events going on ALL THIS WEEKEND for your fix of community camaraderie! smiley0.gif

It was a lot of fun to work on a commission for the RT times, and maybe I'll open up the field to other commissions in the future. It was also fun to work with RvBOR admin BaghdadBean , who would like you to think that she whipped me with an old-timey cane while I worked on the newsletter----and that is COMPLETELY true! smiley4.gif LOL

Here is the newsletter if you want to check it out. I will definitely be starting work on a new RT times issue on Monday, after what will likely be an epic weekend (epic busy, not epic fun- unfortunately. smiley4.gif )

Was a great success. It was a lot of fun, with I'd say about 25 or so people coming out. Mostly Cali. people came, but we got a group of 5 from Chicago, which was AWESOME! We had a lot of fun at the beach, doing an awesome rendition of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, trivia for awesome prizes, s'mores, talking and meeting new friends, etc.

You can read about it in the RvBCA group and in journals of people in the group.I will also be posting the pics and video I managed to capture when I wasn't mingling like crazy and doing trivia. smiley0.gif

We hope to build on the success for the future, so hopefully if ya'll want to come to BEAUTIFUL San Diego (the weather was 75 degrees and sunny on Saturday. *swoon*) you can come to one of our events!

Love to all who came, and prodding to those who are on the fence about coming in the future. smiley0.gif

I'm also going to have to recruit some admins to help. Because it fell a lot of me, Andrew and Mike, so we need probably 2 or 3 more people to help carry the weight of such responsibility. With great power comes....you get the picture. smiley6.gif

      Comic con starts TOMORROW!

Holy crap where did the time go?!?

I don't know if I'm mentally prepared for this. smiley4.gif (and yes, it is a mental process).

Oh well, don't have a choice, right?

In all seriousness, though, it should be fun. Lots and lots of exhausting fun. smiley0.gif I can't WAIT to pick up more unique, nerd-art (my FAV part of the con, IMO) and some awesome toys, like the Comic-con Comic Book Guy ornament

ANNNND I'm really excited for our second-Annual RvBCA meetup! The turn-out looks like it'll be great. I'm thinking about some fun stuff to do- maybe a trivia game where the first prize will be my Sunday pass to comic-con? Or some cool Halo stuff (I still have some KICKASS reach posters from last year to give away! smiley13.gif )

If ya'll want updates on stuff going on at Comic-con and RvBCA, you can follow me on My twitter if you'd like.

    • 365 project bandwagon!

      jclfjanet

Thanks to Mary for the inspiration, so I've decided to start a 365 project. I will be doing a personal journal every day, but NOT ON THIS SITE. I will probably start a LiveJournal for this, so if you WANT TO, you can follow me there and check on that.

I WILL update my rooster teeth journal about my 365 project, but it will be maybe twice a month or so, because I don't want to spam ya'll in my journal.

It'll be a little bit of an undertaking, but I really want to keep at it. I won't abandon my RT times stuff, which is still on-going. I also think that it'll be a nice outlet for things, because I've been a little overwhelmed and weighed down by what seems like endless bad news. It'll be great having something that brings me joy.

So what am I doing my 365 project on: BAKING! I've mentioned in journals before that I wanted to look into starting a baking business (even if it's just a side business). I have spent the past year solid developing and perfecting recipes for almost everything- cakes, brownies, fudgies, cookies, tarts, pies, breads etc). I really want to see where I am a year from now, now that I'm going to be really taking this serious.

For now, I will leave you with Day 1: a photo of what I will consider my two specialty cupcakes: Strawberry and deep chocolate. smiley0.gif

      x2l7o8.jpg

So any of you going to start one? Even just a possibility? If you were ever to, what would it be on? smiley12.gif

You best option to find out about canwest tickets is to email the official canwest email address, if worse comes to worse you can buy a ticket to the regular showing. Have my movie portion of my ticket. Only reason I even bought one was to help towards the charity donation. As a presenter at canwest I go for frees.

I just saw this... yea what will happen soon as you place this in your xbox it will say that there is an update you need to download otherwise you cannot play online, once you install the update your game will be censored and you will have the censored version, this is the same with steam. they are going to use the update function to screw us over.

also they just check your IP and if your from Australia then no play sad.png

Hey. I saw your comment on Burnie's profile about the Left 4 dead 2 ban -

I guess that's cool that the edited copy got approved, so you'll still be able to play Left 4 dead 2, even if it's a toned-down version.

But I was wondering if xbox games are region specific? Could you guys in Australia maybe buy a copy from an American person on ebay or something and be able to play it in your xbox 360?

'Cuz if that's the case, I would totally buy the normal copy off ebay.

      Took long enough :)

    • breebree20

Oh I really liked it, and it's seriously a pretty short game--I can't tell you how many times I've beaten it in the last couple weeks, haha. The very first time I played it probably took me about 6-7 hours all together. When I sit down and play straight through it takes about 5 hours.

There were a couple things I didn't like. For instance: you can't just jump, she always jumps forward, and the last boss fight, don't expect it to be any sort of epic challenge. It's just button pushing. Don't get me wrong, I love the story, and the way it ends is super bad ass (cause Rubi is super bad ass), I've just played it so many times I nit-pick the hell out of it, haha.

All in all, if you're thinking of getting it, do it. You can definitely finish it before Left 4 Dead 2 so no worries! If you do buy it, let me know what you think when you finish!

      Hope you enjoy!

The tree I used for my Halloween Tree actually started out as a Christmas tree but then I found more fun little decorations for Valentine's Day...then St Patrick's Day...then Easter...I'm trying to make it more year round.

Um, I don't know about Xbox games being region specific. DVDs are Region 4 in Australia (as opposed to 2 as the said in the Drunk Tank). I don't know how different the cut version will be compared to the uncut in terms of programming... in other words, even if you get an imported uncut version, are you able to join servers hosted by cut versions?

I play on PC so I don't actually know anything about Xbox.
