    • RT Times Issue 7 out and I'm off camping

Features the return of GRIF GAB (w00t) and two new features: A regular comic and a new segment called "RT Community Spotlight." Let me know what you think of the new features/the issue in general.

So now I'm going into darkness!

      Well, camping.

And it's not really dark. It's on the beach and there's plumbing and electricity and pools and live concerts and parties and a store and arcade and even a cafe.

Ya know, roughin' it. smiley6.gif LOL

BUT there's not free internet (you have to pay $15 a day for that) so I'm limited to my phone, which I probably won't even take out of my tent because I don't want to drop it in beach sand.

So I'll be gone until tuesday and we'll see what kind of comments I get on the RT times.

Send as much love/hate/criticism/stalker-ish heavy breathing/mildly amused comments as you want. LOL smiley6.gif

Is it shameless and obnoxious to plug RvBCA in the Rooster Teeth times?

A community member suggested that I do community spotlights in the RT Times paper that I make (spotlights on groups, members, cool things going on in the community, etc). I thought that since our RvBCA meetup is coming up soon, that I should do the first spotlight on RvBCA and our group.

BUT that might be seen as lame and shameless plugging of a group I'm an admin of.

      Thoughts? Suggestions?

Check out this Interview with GlaDos AKA Ellen McLain. She also does the voice of the Overwatch announcer from Half-life 2 and the episodes. Quite interesting.

Plus, the interviewer's username is caboose15, so that's cool. smiley6.gif

I would assume from the interviewer's username that he might be a member of the site. Anyone know if he's registered here?

So what did ya'll think? I saw the movie somewhat early (wednesday) and was going to write a review, but my niece got sick and passed it to everyone who has been in contact with her in the past 5 days (ie me) so we were all down and very, very sick. Apparently the zombie apocalypse starts with a 2 1/2 year old with a pension of putting everything in her mouth. smiley4.gif

At any rate, the movie seemed schizophrenic to me. It seemed like it wanted to be a cutsey, coming of age film with a slightly dark sci-fi twist. Stand by me meets E.T. Other times it wanted to be a legitimate thriller sci-fi movie with a creepy ass alien. Like signs but without the world's worst ending to a movie ever. smiley4.gif

While the 2 were okay apart, they were kind of weaker together. Both sides fell flat and a lot of interesting plot points wrapped up too abruptly to make room for the million others (the stuff with the air force colonel was way too short).

The kids were amazing actors, which surprised me, and Kyle Chandler did great, too. Overall the movie was enjoyable, if maybe suffering from identity issues. smiley6.gif

    • Finally going to say it.

This is a really hard journal to post. I wasn’t going to say anything at first, but I figure I want to get the word out to ANYONE I can.

When I got back from RTX on the 30th, I was met with some really upsetting news.

A close friend of mine, Michelle Le, went missing last weekend from her nursing school near San Francisco. She was going to her car on a break around 7 p.m. and wasn’t seen since. Her car was found a few miles away the next day.

Calls to her phone have gone unanswered, but her phone was on and transmitted signals near Union City and Oakland before it was either shut off or died on Saturday evening.

Some background: I met Michelle when my dad began dating her aunt when I was about 12. The entire family, especially Michelle, was so warm and welcoming and loving. They had family get-togethers almost every weekend because they are all so close- it was unlike any family I’ve ever met. It was almost a little intimidating at first, as it is when entering such a close-knit family, but they all went out of their way to make me, my sister and my father feel like part of their huge loving family. Even when my dad and her aunt ended their relationship when I was a senior in high school, Michelle and the others continued to keep in contact with me, which they clearly didn't have to do.

She is so smart, nice, funny and (obviously) gorgeous. She is genuinely beautiful inside and out. It’s so upsetting that this happened to her. She was supposed to go to Reno for memorial day weekend, but her friends say they haven’t heard anything from her either. She is NOT the type to take off like this. She is so close to all of her family, especially her brother Michael so she wouldn’t just ignore calls.

Police are following a lot of leads, including a woman who has been disgruntled with Michelle for a while. Unfortunately, from their investigation they believe that she is no longer alive. Unfortunately, the police have been VERY scant with telling anything to her own family (GRRR) so the family is somewhat upset that they're claiming she's dead without giving much detail as to why they think that.

TL;Dr: Michelle Le, a friend of mine, is missing. For information you can check out this facebook page: www.facebook.com/find.nurse.le

There is also a flashlight vigil in San Diego (north of downtown, in the Rancho Bernardo area) for anyone who wants to attend and show support. I will be there, along with my sister.

If you have or even just hear ANY information contact Hayward police at (510) 293-5051. Remember that you can report anonymously!

And, of course, to everyone out there: PLEASE BE CAREFUL! There is a lot of evil in the world, and it’ll strike even the best of us for NO reason.

If anyone is interested in going tomorrow night or interested in helping in any way, let me know. smiley12.gifsmiley12.gif
