Back in San Diego from RTX. I do miss Austin's awesomeness, but not really the heat. It's a full 30 degrees cooler here from the 95 + degrees it was in Texas. However, Austin was totally awesome. While I love San Diego more overall, I think I enjoyed Austin's downtown a LITTLE bit more. Mostly because downtown S.D. has too many clubs where hipster douchebags and border-line prostitutes wait way too long in a line to dance to shitty club music and pay $9 a cocktail. I don't think I saw a single danceclub in downtown Austin. They just have bars were people hangout and have fun, which was AWESOME.

So anyway, less tangent more about RTX: We got in late Thursday and checked into the double tree. The hotel was awesome in layout (all the rooms in a square with connecting balconies outside so you can walk to your friends' rooms) but had the most TERRIBLE cell phone reception ever. I think since the hotel was tall and big, so it blocked it pretty bad, it felt like the 90's where you go outside and hold your phone over your head while standing on one foot just to get 2 bars! LOL

Friday we woke up late (jet lagged! smiley4.gif ) and we hung around Austin. We then went to Round Rock Texas for stuff that Ryan had to do while I spent time at the Rooster Teeth-endorsed Salt Lick barbeque, which was DELICIOUS! The sauce they had was kind of an orange color, which I thought was going to be weird but it was AMAZING!

Friday Night was obviously the kickoff party, where we saw not only the RT staff (including the elusive Dan Godwin and John Mike Reed smiley0.gif ) but also game developers Certain Affinity, Bioware and Twisted Pixel as well as Frank O'Conor from 343.

After that, the hall was opened up to a mass free-for-all of mingling with the RT staffers and RTX'ers.

This is probably my favorite pic of the night, and possible the entire trip:

I talked to Gus about future RTX's and he said that next year will be a LOT bigger, so hopefully everyone who wants to go will be able to

Saturday included a screening at the Alamo Drafthouse, which was everything that RT makes it out to be in the podcast. It's awesome to have a theater that also serves DELICIOUS food to your seat. Ryan and I (very hungover from Friday) just had a milkshake and some breakfast, but it was awesome! Before the screening they showed a mixture of cheesey old cartoons (Captain N? *Groan!*) and some old RT stuff (It's doomsday, doomsday...).

Once the screening started my mind was BLOWN by the amount of amazing stuff! Never-before seen Drunk Tank animated adventures (the best one so far, IMO), shorts, Fails of the Weak, slow-mo guys, and of course RED VS BLUE! We got to see the first 20 minutes of season 9, and it was the fastest 20 mins of my entire life! It went by way too short because of the awesomeness! I can't wait to see the season this summer.

After the screening was a huge party in the lot next to the RT offices and RT office tours. Another laid back day and awesome time.

Saturday night wrapped early, giving us time to visit Austin some more. Ryan and I went downtown and checked out the building of the old RT offices ate at the Roaring Fork (SO DELICOUS!) and then had s'mores at our table at Halcyon. After that we went to Buffalo Billiards and met up with Jack and Joel for some drinks and games. Jack is an absolute MONSTER at air hockey. He handedly OWNED 5 people in a row. I went up for game six and ALMOST beat him, even coming from a 3-point deficit to tie the game 6-6! Alas, Jack's skills were too much and he beat me 7-6. smiley4.gif It was a ton of fun, though.

Sunday was, of course, the zombie shoot. I won't give specifics, because the staff asked us to maintain the surprise for ya'll, but, as with all RT stuff, you guys will be surprised and amazed. It was a lot of work, and the sun was beastly that day. People were dressed in full costumes and masks, but they were total troopers.

So I hope you all enjoyed this long ass journal. Just to let you know, I will be posting more pics (and even links to videos I took) here and some EXCLUSIVE pics and videos in the Rooster Teeth Times group so if you want to join and/or put it on watch to check that stuff out.

These past 2 weeks have been kicking my ass with University stuff, family crap and trying to tie-up loose ends at work JUST so I can go to RTX! smiley4.gif Now that this issue is up (and hopefully not fraught with typos! smiley5.gif ) I can get back to the avalanche of family and work stuff I'm grinding through.

LUCKILY, I'm heading to Texas tomorrow! WOO hoo! If you want to get a lot of tweets and twit=pics of RTX, be sure to follow me on Twitter

And, of course, if you want RT times updates and teasers, be sure to join the RT Times Group . The next issue will obviously be a massive recap of RTX and I will post a LOT of pics in the group only.
      Enjoy issue 6
