Well I'm finally done with exams, until the end of the school year. I'm slightly worried, because I have no idea how I did on them and I'm trying to at least keep my GPA at 3.9. I don't know why but this year I just don't feel like I'm putting forth enough effort for these things. I haven't even taken my ACT's yet and I was hoping to get my application into MTU by the end of this school year so I would be more likely to get some really good financial aid. There are all kinds of things that could be causing this, but I really can't figure out what they are. Then again I think I might be ranting about this stuff because I feel slightly depressed for no good reason. Who ever first said that you junior year in high school was your worst high school year was right, well at least in my case they are right.
Anway we finally have the car so we no longer depend on public transportation, known as the Marq Tran around here, to go places. Which is a very good thing because riding that bus sucks and the driver for the route that I have to ride to get home is unbelievably mean, I would call her something else but I don't feel like using words like that right now.
I still have so much that I have to do for the yearbook and newspaper that is isn't funny. What makes it bad is that the pages for this yearbook deadline have to be submitted to the factory Monday. I don't really have anything else to say right now, this was more of a rant than is was anything else and I don't know how it turned into that.

If you can't tell I couldn't think of a title again. Well the past week has been a pain, not to mention it's filtered into the weekend and next week too. To make it simple, I have a LOT to do this weekend and next week is exams, plus I have two pages for the yearbook that I have to finish by the end of the week and almost 400 papers to go though before I can do them. Oh and there are so many things that I need to do for Science Olympiad before the 11th of next month it's crazy.
On a lighter side of things, my dad is going to give me some money for so I can get things set up to use my XP and Linux computer at the same time. I was originally going to get a cheap video card for the Linux machine that would support a higher resolution than 800x600. But after thinking about what DharkXero did with his recent build I decided to get a better video card for the XP machine and put the one in the XP machine in the Linux machine. That way I get a video card better suited for games in the system that games will run on and I'll have a pretty good video card for the other system. I've figured out that I have way to much of an emotional attachment to the parts that are in the XP machine staying in the XP machine. I know it's weird, but give me a break, it's the first computer that I built.

Other than finally having a working car for the scrambler constest in Science Olympiad, nothing really happened this past week. I did finally actaully get Firefox installed on the my Linux computer, or as close to it as I'm going to get, but I did that earlier today. I also got AIM installed, but AIM for Linux sucks, at least it seems like it does so far. I'm not using it right now though, I need to get a KVM switch, a switch (in network terms), and a new video card for it before I start using it a lot. I might be able to get those after my dad files his taxes. We are also supposed to be getting a car or something soon, considering that we haven't had one for about 1 and a half years. Anyway everything else is basically the same as always.

    • Yeah... Tired and Happy New Year

Well the Halo 2 went off pretty well. We didn't have as many people as we could have or would have liked to have, but for my house 12 or 13 people was still pretty good. We ended up just sitting around talking around 4 or 5 in the morning and then went to sleep around 7 or 8. We got up around 11, ate, played some more, then people started leaving. I am so tired from that, and I think I drank to much MD last night considering that I don't really drink pop at all anymore. I'm going to sleep well tonight, I hope. Although, there was one round that I was doing freakishly well for me. When the round started I decided that it was going to be a screw around round for me and I ended up going on this long killing spree, I don't remember how long though. It was fun though and worth it though.

On a different note, Happy New Year and all of that stuff. I'm tired, this journal is probably full of spelling mistakes or the spelling is better than it usually is, I'm sore for some reason, and I feel like I'm forgeting to do something right now.

    • Another Halo 2 party

Well I'm going to be part of another Halo 2 party, but this time it's at my house. Me and hopefully 15 other people are going to bring in the New Year killing eachother. We will probably only have some where in the area of 10 people there but it'll will be awesome. I was thinking about having one here sometime, but I wasn't expecting to have one this soon. Yeah, it wasn't my idea, but I'm glad my friend that thought of it asked me to have it here. There isn't much else to say about that right now, but I'll be sure to tell how it went.

And if anyone could tell me how to install programs on Linux it would be much appreciated.

Well I finally got Linux to install on my second computer and yes that's what I'm using to type this journal. So I have finally done what I said I would do, I am leaving a journal on RvB from a Linux computer. Now I just need to figure out how to install things, I'm using Red Hat and I don't really feel like looking it up, at least not right now (I'm using Firefox right not but it's not technically installed on the system). The reason I don't want to look it up is because I forgot that the video card in this computer doesn't support any resulotions above 800x600 and the color is crap. So everything looks pretty bad right now. I'll get a better video card from somewhere, but until then I'm going to use this computer very little for day to day use. I'm also hoping to get a KVM so I don't have to move cables from one computer to another.

EDIT: From XP computer, so I don't forget, Marry Christmas.

Well today school finally let out for break. I need this break so badly, to bad it isn't longer. Oh well, I only had one class today that we actaully did anything educational in and that was just a quiz. I also had a lot more given to me than I thought I would. One of my female friends gave me a teddy bear because we got into a conversation one time about soft, fluffy stuff and I said I didn't have anything like that in my room. That same girl also gave me a bunch a CDs that she burned for me and a CD case that holds like 24 CDs with it. Then another one of my friends gave me Angels & Demons. In case you don't know it it the prelude to The Da Vinci Code, and I really like that one so that's why she got me the other one. I also got a few other small things, but nothing as major of those things. So it was a pretty good day even though I had to get up early.

I'll get to working on the Linux computer tonight or tomorrow, I have a few more ideas before I try the next distro that I have. I'm hoping that I'll get Fedora to work, but I'm not going to get overly confident about it. It's probably a good thing that I have a nice large stack of CD-Rs waiting to be used + 5 more.

    • Frustration Consumes Me

A guy in my computer maintenance and repair class gave me a 20 Gig hard drive that he had no idea if it worked or not and leant me a CD drive so I could try to install Linux on the hard drive he gave me. Well I put the drive in and it has a slight tick of death (nothing that the Russian method of fixing things wouldn't fix, yes that means I hit it with something, but it wasn't turned on and after that it worked). Well I then actaully got Linux to install on the hard drive and it started to load Linux, but with how my luck is, it freezes everytime it gets to a certain point. Last time it frooze I just left it turned on and switched the monitor, keyboard, and network cable back to this one. I have no idea if it is still frozen or if some how finished loading, but I'll figure that out later. Right now I'm just unbelievably frustrated with how close I got to having it work, just to have it fail again. I'll just keep trying and eventually something will work, I hope.

    • Damn Freezing Rain

To explain the title I have two words: Power Outage. Yeah I had freezing rain Wensday morning and it when the wind started to kick up around 4:30 it cause one of the main transmission lines for my area to break. It took them over 5 hours to find and fix the line, keep in mind the power lines up here run through the middle of no where and there is snow every where. Surprisingly though, it only dropped to about 58 degrees in my house during that time (my dad keeps the about at about 64-66). Anyway, that's the longest power outage that I have been in during my life (and the coldest) so I figured that I would say something about it.

    • Still no title.

Well last week was a stressful as I thought it was going to be and that stress is going to continue into this week. I have a project that is going to have at least 14 pages to it due by Friday and I though it was due next Monday, so I was planning on having two weekends to do most of the work on it. Then I have to have one thing for the yearbook and another for the newspaper done this week too, not to mention all the homework I might get. Well at the least I have a break from all this stress Friday night. My school had a dance that I wasn't planning on going to for the lack of a ride and the lack of money. Well I ended up getting the ride and the money so I went. To make long story short, in an attempt to get one of my friends, Skylar, off of the backs of another one of my friends, Michelle, and me, it was actaully a date. The guy has been telling her and me to date even though he really means go out, so we decided to be smart asses about it and go to the dance as a date (her idea but I saw it coming). It would be nice if it works but, I have a feeling that it might only make it worse. Either way though, I had fun and it gave me a much needed break from the all the stress. That's not saying anything about the fact that it was nice going on a date with her in the first place. To make something really long and complicated extremely short and simple, the only reason I haven't asked her out is because I decided I'm staying single this year and apparently she is to, I don't know why she is staying single though. Anyway I've had to almost completely give up on trying to install Linux for right now, I haven't had the time and I can't find a CD drive other than the one in this computer that works well enough to get Linux installed and it's rather inconvenient to take that drive out. Well this journal turned out to be longer than I though it was going to be.
