Man...this year has been something. I'm not sure what else I can say. This year was so busy, I haven't really had time to think about all that happened. Hope I have more time to just chill out and have fun, I've had even stress for a while.
But I don't really want to just complain and think of the bad, so...good things. Got a promotion at work (on the 15th), so that will be pretty good once I get my next paycheck. Moved into a house with roommates at the beginning of last semester, so out of the terrible roach invested apartment. I actually have room for most of my stuff now, I have a place I can relax alone, but I also now have 5 cool roommates to hang with all the time. Legend of Korra was pretty good. Kind of sad that it is over, but at least it went out well. Never think I would ship them, but I'm glad they are happy together. Passed Physics so I never have to worry about that again. Passed Stats 50, so I only have 1 more math class to worry about. Took a graphics course, so I finally understand what a shader pipeline is, which feels nice.
There was probably other stuff, but this year was a blur for me. I'm going to step up to mind, toast with my roommates, crash and get some much needed sleep.

Happy new year to everyone, and hope the next year is awesome for everyone.

I might be kind of excited for the next season of Legend of Korra. I admit Korra has been meh for me for the last 2 seasons, but the season finale really had me going. I was not sure how they were going to follow it up, but man, this trailer looks cool.

School semester started. I thought this semester was going to be hard. So far, slowest I've had in a while. Even my Game architecture class has doing nothing but show that all controllers are the same to a computer, yes even a DDR pad (and no the teacher didn't dance).
Had a lot of down time because of it. When my roommates are home that means we play Project M, since we all got interested in the competitive scene of SSB after watching the Smash Brothers Documentary.
When they aren't home, mostly netflix and comics (green lantern). A few weeks ago, we watched the Bronies Documentary on netflix and that got me interested enough to watch a few episodes of the show. So I do that when my roommates are here, or watch more Project M tournament videos.

      Obvious spoilers

So....pretty good. Since I don't have cable anymore, I missed all the week long lead up to it on BBC America, but glad I missed most of the hype/spoilers.
Great episode, loved all the interplay between 10/11 and most of the interaction with War Doctor. Still feel Clara is kind of a Mary Sue, and "Bad Wolf" was kind of a weird way of bringing Rose "back". Kind of wish 10 got to see her, just for the reaction alone. I loved the kind of half adventures we got to see with Elizabeth. Kind of like in "Doctor's Wife".
With the retcon...dunno. I guess I felt it was alright, at least how they did it with all 13 doctors, even though it was mostly stock footage, especially eccleston :( I really wanted to see him back. I know about the rift between him and the studio, but a man can dream. I saw the parody episode with all the old doctors, and it just kind of made me sad that they weren't in the episode. It shows they got them back, but not into the episode proper.

As for the Night of the Doctor Hell yes!!! 8 is back. I will admit to never seeing the movie (not on netflix), but damn was that a really cool mini-episode. I want to see more of him now.

Saw It with a bunch of friends I haven't seen a lot since last semester. Pretty damn good movie. Glad I could finally see a Simon Pegg movie in theaters. Also went back and rewatched Hot Fuzz with my roommates, one of which hadn't seen it before. It was great seeing his reactions.

In other news, school started up. Yay. At least my CSC classes seem interesting, if one a tad to elementary right now and the other in an area I will probably never go into.

I think I might have to give in. This semester is taking its toll on me and wearing down my resolve. I loved feeling superior to my friends, holding it over them that I alone resisted temptation. But I can only take so much.
That's right, I think I might have to admit defeat and start taking that wonderfully addictive drug, Caffeine. Or more specifically, caffeinated Coffee.
I never really got into drinking coffee, but with how tired I am recently with work and school, I think I might have to start just to keep up. But I'll be honest, I really don't drink coffee because I can't really stand the taste regularly, and the 'fruity' coffees I like (mochas, etc) are expensive and I;m a cheapskate.
I'm not even really sure if what I am typing makes any sense right now. I probably shouldn't be writing this, I have HW I should be doing if I want to have the possibility of having time off this weekend. But hey, who needs Math anyway?

PS: I got the last wheel of time book, got it signed by Sanderson, and finished it. I felt kind of sad now that it's over. smiley2.gif RIP Robert Jordon

Ya, its finals week at school and the weekend before I decided to get Saints row and play way to much. Also went to Barnes and Noble. They were having a sale on British TV shows; 50% off. I didn't stand a chance. Basically spent all my money (which I should be saving for Christmas gift buying) and spent it on Doctor who and Red Dwarf. Hey, I saved 60% on them (member card), so I think it balances out. Might have to borrow some money against my future earnings (full time working over the break), but I should make it back easily.
Got my hard final done today (math) and just have to wait for the rest of Wednesday. Not a breeze but nothing to worry about. German Mythology (kick ass), CSc 60 (finals are hard but it curves), and History (always a cake walk for me).
Already got my classes locked in for next semester, best selection I've had in my years at college.
Been writing some more and trying to reach out friends I haven't seen this semester. Though I still haven't done any work on my side programming projects. Maybe over the break.

Just watched the Machinima series about Rooster Teeth. They talked about the social network side of it, which made me feel bad I barely appear here anymore. I guess I don't really do much this semester, especially since getting sick last Sunday. I've barely done any programming except for school or work, and I've gotten almost no writing done in weeks.
But screw the self pity, I saw movies last weekend!! I saw Skyfall on Saturday with my Dad. The opening cinematic was pretty cool but nothing to right home about. Overall the movie was pretty good, better then Quantum of Solace. I could actually see what was going on in the fight scenes. The villain was pretty good, though the hacking stuff was all a bit cheesy and overdone. The last action fight was pretty damn good, especially since he doesn't have any gadgets to help him, just his smarts, Macgyver style.
Then on Sunday I saw Wreck It Ralph which was AMAZING! Besides all the cool cameos and video game in-jokes, the world was cool and pretty well though out. Everything fits together pretty well and made me start thinking of other things that happened our could in that world. The story itself was pretty good, at times being pretty gut-wrenching and other time surprisingly scary . I know I would have had nightmares about the Insect Turbo if I saw it as a kid. Over all I think its a must see!
Also got in some Halo 4....not sure I like a lot of the changes, but it still is pretty good. The Story in the Campaign is interesting, even if the actual game-play leaves a lot to be desired. To much 'find/destroy/press these 3 things' which invariably makes more bad guys appear. The multiplayer was fun enough, though I don't think it has enough good maps. Also not very happy with killcams and that you have to unlock almost everything, including emblems!! I still can't use the same emblem/background combination I've used for the last 3 games. Arg. But I'm still playing, so what does that tell ya?

Oh, and in the Infonaut documentary, they talked about RBX, which kind of made me bummed. I decided to wait to go because of lack of funds the last two years, plus waiting until I'm 21. But now I've already promised to go to PAX with a friend, plus we are trying to go to Fanime. I've been saving up for 2 years, but I still don't think I have enough money to go to 3 conventions in a year. Well hopefully I get up the courage at least to talk to them at PAX this year; I chickened out at PAX 2011 and just quietly bought a shirt and left. After getting there and back, I just hope I have enough money this year for one.

PS: also on a weird Power Rangers kick. Not really going back and watching it (though I've watching an episode or 2 on Netflix), but watching rewatching Linkara's history of Power Rangers as well as deciding to watch some of the Sentai series its based on. So far I'm about half way through Boukenger, which is pretty good, though some of the resent episodes have been filler. The characters are cool, interesting, and best of all, not written like either goody goodys or like 12 year olds. Hell, one of them is ex special forces and has used assault rifles in a episode. Not your American Power Rangers. I saw some of the Power Rangers it was turned into and it was pretty bad. I stopped watching a while ago so I might be biased, but I'm not a fan of the Disney made series. I don't feel like watching it now that I'm sick, but it's already clearing up, so I'll probably get back to my 2-3 episode a day schedule pretty soon.

    • Finially going to write about PAX

Ya, I've been back from PAX for two days, but I actually had to go from that strait back into school so I've had a bit of catching up do do.
Well, first off PAX was amazing. I'm still recovering from it and I may have made a friend drop a class to go with me, and I now I have no money and still have to repay for my flight there.....ok, that sounds bad. BUT!, but even with all that it was worth it. The little geek no man's land that I'm from has constricted my geekdom to long! I needed to be with my people, and damn was it all that and more.
I arrived to Seattle on Thursday with a friend, everything went pretty smoothly and we got to our hotel. I knew there were going to be pre-pax game nights, but we didn't really have any ways to get to them. Of coarse the next day we found out we could have taken a free shuttle from our hotel to them, but oh well.
The first day of pax arrives, we actually meet the actors playing the Marines from Aliens in the lobby of our hotel, and we talked to them a bit throughout the weekend. The line for PAX was huge when we got there, and we got there at least 2 hours early. Got our shwag bags and talked with a few people and threw around a beach ball. The first place we went to was the Flying Frog booth. They make some great board games, and my friend was really excited to see them. We bought some retro video games somewhere else (I also got a Saturn analog controller). I went to the Halo universe, Mega 64, Roosterteeth, and Angry Video game Nerd Panels. I got my copy of Friday the 13th signed by the AVGN and NESpunk, as well as getting a hell of a lot of T-shirts. Got a code for Poker Night at the inventory from the Telltale booth. At night, went my friend had already went back to the hotel, I went to the Loading Ready Run Panel and their movie night. I liked there stuff, but didn't realize how much until I was psyched to be able to be there. They are awesome, and if you haven't watched there stuff, do it now!
The next day we Finally actually got to see Aliens: colonial marines, and I got to say, the game looks pretty good. I've only ever seen aliens, and I wasn't that big on AVP, but I definitely will keep an eye on this game as it gets closer to coming out. The event was so huge, that I really didn't know where half the stuff was. I didn't get to the Roosterteeth booth until the second day, and never got any of my stuff signed :/ but I did splurge and buy the remastered box set, the recollection box set, and a Drunk tank shirt. I also saw a little of the Minecraft Adventure update, as well as Cobalt, both looked pretty good, though clearly, 1.8 isn't done yet. I hadn't gone to the Keynote nor the Q&A, but I would be damned if I was going to miss the continuation adventures Acquisitions Inc. I got it like about 2 and a half hours early, and got a pretty good seat (my friend didn't want to go). While in line I finally figured out how the 3DS street pass works. Acq Inc was pretty awesome, worth the wait. I was a little disappointed about the lack of fighting going on, it seemed more goofy then their past games, but damn was it funny.
On the last day, I was walking by the coffee show in the convention, and I spotted one of the guys from LRR! I will admit it took me awhile to work up the courage to talk to him, but I did and he also pointed me towards there booth, which was pretty out of the way in the band section. I don't know why and I probably would never have found it if he hadn't told me. So I went there, and there were huge lines to see JoCo, Will Wheaton (also don't know why he was there) but there was no one in front of the LRR booth. I thought they might be on break or something, but finally decided they were not, I went up and said hi and bought some of their dvds. I would have bought t-shirts to, but I was already out of room in my luggage. I got into line and got two CDs from Jonathan Coultan and right before it was my turn to go up and get stuff signed, I remembered my story of how I heard of him. I'm surprised I had the courage to tell him (if you can't tell, I am very nervous around celebrities). I then went back and got my LRR stuff signed by the guys, even though two of them were not there :/ They were really cool guys though, also actually pretty funny in person as well. I did some more stuff and eventually it was almost to go down and wait for the last shuttle to pick us up so we could get ready to go to the airport. I wanted to go back and see if the other 2 guys from LRR were back, but if I went I might me late. I started walking anyway, but lo and behold some of them walked right past me, including one of the ones I missed. I ran up to them and he signed my DVD. They were really nice about it, then I had to frantically run downstairs to go, before I missed the shuttle.
The plane back was pretty uneventful, except my friends check- in back was searched by the TSA again (it was also searched on the way there, and he is...well he looks like the person the TSA would profile against) . I Crashed that night at my new dorm, having to get up the next day for school.
Now that I'm writing all of this, I feel sad that it's over, as well as all the missed opportunities there. I barely went to Halo fest at all (I didn't find it till the second day) I missed a lot of the panels because of lines, I didn't hang out with as many new people as I would have hoped, and I didn't meet as many celebrities as I wanted to (mainly through my own stupidity). I definitely learned what to do and don't do next time, even if that won't be for a few years.
Man....now I'm a bit bummed. I going to go watch AT4W and think about ways to become an internet celebrity myself :p

And you know what that means!
PAX is here (my first one) and my and my friend are psyched. I know I'm not going to be able to do half the stuff I want to but I don't care! I did some fundraising and got enough money together so I can actually buy things after getting the tickets and the flight. If anyone is going, hit me up. Of coarse I am going to try to go the the RvB panel, but I know it is going to be packed as hell.
Well I got to get off and do some more last minute preparing.
