There are lots of people in the Rooster Teeth community that are the most amazing artists I have ever seen!

...I am not one of those people.

but I am making some chill stencils that will soon adorn my fancy smoothie tumbler so that it no longer has Popeye creepily smiling out at me.

I know it's a one in a million chance, but I would be over the moon to win the giveaway for the office tour. No hopes are getting up, but at the same time all of my fingers are crossed!!

I go to a tiny little college. And yes, I mean canadian college so not like university. It's in a tiny little town and has about 1200 students. I was in the middle of lab with my tree sciences prof and this guy walks down the sidewalk wearing a Rooster Teeth Hat! In this sea of camo and Highvis clothing and hicks and people who are in LOVE with Duck Dynasty, he was there looking like a more normal version of me! I yelled "Sick Hat!" at him, but I don't think he thought it was for him. WHERE ARE YOU HAT MAN?!

I sound like a crazy person. What else is new.

    • The Tongariro Crossing and Mt. Ngauruhoe

I haven't been on the site in about a month and a half. That is because I went backpacking in New Zealand! I went all around the north and south islands, trying to fit as much as I could in but there was one highlight that stands out the most. I did the alpine crossing called The Tongariro Crossing. Sound familiar? That is where Mt Ngauruhoe is...aka Mt. Doom! As we drove up the road towards the beginning of the trek, I couldn't help but think that I was driving where Chris and Kerry had struggled to walk. Then the guide told us that almost exactly one year ago, Mt Tongariro had errupted. I so I inadvertently went to the place where they buried the ring on it's one year anniversary. As I climbed I thought about that footage and saw myself in all of the places they were until finally I saw the place where I thought they had gone a bit off the beaten track to bury the ring.
Unfortunately, I still had 17km of alpine crossing to go and I was doing it with a group so I had only minutes to look for the ring. Unfortunately, didn't find it. BUT! I did get a bit further....

The Tongariro crossing goes through the saddle between Mt. Tongariro and Mt. Ngauruhoe. The straight track should take about 6 hours to complete, but there are two detours. One to the summit of Tongariro and one to the summit of Ngauruhoe. We were set and ready, so we started our first detour up to the summit of Ngauruhoe! It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Every step you take into that earth slides right back down, so despite taking huge steps, you feel like you're progressing inches at a time. Finally, our group took a break at the cloudline...and our guide had us turn back. There are no trail markers once you get about a quarter of the way up, and if you get lost at the summit and go down the wrong side, it can be deadly. So we had to settle for 3/4s of the way up. I took the most blackened and gross rock I could find and continued the rest of the way.

If you're up for it, that was one of the most rewarding hikes I've ever done. You can feel how tired the hobbits must have been, coming so far only to have to climb and work for it. Inch by inch. New Zealand was the best country I've ever travelled through, if you ever get the chance...go!!
