UPS can ship two 12 ton fish from Taiwan to Atlanta in less than 48 hours, but it takes them 5 days to ship an ATX motherboard from New Jersey to Virginia. Anyone else see anything wrong with that?

I'd like to start this journal entry by saying that the following people are awesome:

      USSArizona
      Shura0107
      Mira Mira

Actually, most of the people reading this are awesome, but I felt that those listed above deserved special recognition. All three of them offered to sponsor me at one point, but I turned Mira Mira and Shura down, thinking that I would be able to get a stamp and send in the money for my sponsorship myself. However, due to the incompetence of American postal system personnel, I was unable to acquire a stamp. They wouldn't sell me one 39 cent stamp, but they were very willing to sell me a 10 dollar book of stamps. Since I probably won't need a stamp for at least another six months, I refused to buy an entire book of stamps and gave up. Shortly after this, USSArizona offered to sponsor me. So after a brief exchange of 1's and 0's between his computer, the paypal/bank server, and the redvsblue server, I had my star back. smiley0.gif

I'm watching one of those low budget film recreations of H.G. Wells The War of the Worlds, when one of the characters looks towards a town which is currently being besieged by Martian tripods. The man standing next to him says something about his old girlfriend living in that town and goes on to mention the town's name: Stafford, Virginia. I find this somewhat disturbing, considering that I am currently sitting in a nice, cozy house located right smack in the middle of Stafford, Virginia. Definitely one of those "hey, I can see my house from here!" moments.

There is an envelope sitting within my desk containing an order form and ten American dollars. This envelope is also addressed to Rooster Teeth Productions in Buda, Texas. It is addressed property, according to the regulations set forth by the United States Postal Service, and it contains a return address. It does not, however, wield a stamp. A freaking stamp is the only thing keeping me from renewing my sponsorship. My parents won't buy any, since they no longer have a need for postage, due to the advent of online bill paying. So tomorrow, on the first day of spring break, I shall embark on a journey. A journey to the post office, which is approximately two miles from my house. I'll have to walk, since riding a bicycle in the vicinity of the major highway that lies between my house and the post office is considered suicidal. I looked up the average human walking speed on Google (3 mph), and I figured that it would take me about two hours to walk there and back. If I don't get hit by a car during the trip, I should have my sponsorship in a couple of days. *clicks in futility on the non-existant insert simily bar*

According to dictionary.com, today (March 15th) is an ides. Ides is also defined as:

"In the ancient Roman calendar the fifteenth day of March, May, July, and October, and the thirteenth day of the other months."

This has been a filler journal. Had this been a real journal, paragraphs of ranting and/or various other kinds of content would have followed this message. Thank you for your cooperation.

Well, it’s been two weeks since my last entry… I haven’t really been busy, but I haven’t had anything of great importance to say either. I bought “The Sims 2: Open for Business†Expansion pack in the hopes that it will hold me over until Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion comes out, at which point, I will disappear into the virtual realm Tamriel for weeks at a time. In other words, when March 20th gets here, “yall†won’t be seeing me for awhile.

      Until My Next Entry,
      Eric

South Carolina, mate. The things rot. Haha.

I need to edit it to say "First jack-o-lantern in memory" or "first jack-o-lantern I have ever made by myself." Apparently we did them in my youth prior to moving to the Carolinas and prior to my ability to retain memories. Meh.

That is not really the issue.
The problem comes with the fact that they will still be able to monitor internet usage through their server, so I would still be caught, especially since no one else would be using the net.
      But thanks for the suggestion!

    • Natalyaold

The thing is, there really aren't loads of scientists supporting both sides. They talk about it in the movie, and elsewhere, but the scientific community is in general agreement about global warming. I'm not kidding. That's why it's so distressing that no one is doing about it. It's upsetting that politics gets in the way.

I can understand that thinking about the world getting screwed up is terrifying (it is to me too!), but wouldn't you rather try and do something about it, or at least educate yourself about it, so that maybe it won't be so bad, and maybe it won't have to be as scary?

    • Natalyaold

It's not talking about when the world is going to end (I thought that was going to happen when the sun blows up in lots of millino years, anyway - scary!), but about how we can stop the planet from being ruined. And yes, there wlil always be politics in everything, but it's important to see past the political issues of anything and just understand what is going on.
